How to build a CS:GO Team
By oGlock
Have you ever been pissed about playing MM alone? Your friends are on a total different skill-level than you and/or you have no friends who play the game? Well, if you have those thoughts, you have probably thought of building your own team with the same skill-level you have.
This guide is a simple guide for people who are new to Teams in CS:GO. I will talk about my experience building my own Team and what you need to do.

Create a Steam-Group

First of all, you have to do the basic things, such as creating a Steam-Group. You should already have an idea on how you want to call your team. For this example the name is ''CSGO Kings''. You also have to put in an abbreviation for the Team's Name (This abbreviation will be shown in the game). For ''CSGO Kings'' the abbreviation could be ''CSGOK''. The group should also be private, so that not a random douche can join the group.
This is all just simple stuff. Let's get to the next step.

Requirements

Well, there are also some requirements you have to have for building your own team.
1. You need to either have Skype or an own TS-Server, so that you can communicate with your Mates.
2. You need a headset for:
2.1: Playing the game (lol xD)
2.2: The Microphone to talk to the players.
3. Be mature, don't rage if you lose 16-0.

The Roles

First of all you need to find people for your team. Each player should be around the same age as you and everyone should have their own role in the Team. For example you need one guy who is the AWPer of the team. He is the only person who gets an AWP when you can buy one. I will list the different roles in a team and I will explain them:
  • IGL (In-Game-Leader): He is the person who makes the calls, he tells you where to go in the beginning of the round and he is mainly the guy who invents tactics for different maps.
  • AWPer: He is the guy who needs to have decent AWP-Skills. If your team has enough money at the beginning of the round, he is going to be the person who gets an AWP.
  • Rifler: He is the person who rifles for the Team. This person should be able to play with the ''Standard'' Weapons like the AK, M4A1-S / M4A4, Galil and Famas. He is going to rush with the Team if the call is to rush a bomb-spot.
  • Lurker: The Lurker is the guy who watches the back of his Mates. If the team slowly makes their way to a bomb-site he will protect them from behind or goes to the other bomb-site to catch potential rotators.
  • Entry Fragger: The Entry Fragger is the guy who rushes first. It's his job to get the first kills and not to die directly when entering the bomb-site.
  • Stand-In: A Stand-In isn't really needed if you are just playing MM, but if you want to go further with your Team and want to compete in Leagues or Tournaments you need a Stand-In who can jump in if one of the main-players isn't able to compete.

Where can I find players?

After you understood all the roles in a Team and you think you are ready to start something new, you need the players. As already said, the players should be around the same age as you and should have the same In-Game-Skill.
You can either hit Match-Making and add some people who are good or average and you can ask them if they are interested to join your team. This way isn't that great, it might work out, but it could be a big waste of time as well.
I suggest visiting the website www.csgoteamfinder.com (This Guide isn't sponsored by them or some sh*t), then go to the category ''Players''. On the left site you can put in some details on the players you are looking for. You can also select the Rank the players should have you are searching for.
You can also just add a new Post at the ''Teams'' Category. You will talk about your plans and the requirements the players should have. The players should all have the same requirements as you. You should also add your Steam-Profile-URL, so that the guys who are interested in your team can add you.

Try-Outs

Now we are at the point, where you (got) added (by) some interesting profiles and you have to try them out. Best would be playing MM with 4 of the players you added/who applied. You will stick with the people who played best and the ones you like. You should not be interested in Trollers or Ragers. If you have more people who want to join you will always swap the bottom-fraggers, until you found the players you like.
This part is the longest, but it's also fun.

After you found all your new Mates

After you found all your new Mates invite them to your Steam-Group. If you have a Logo, send it to them, they should all have the same profile-picture. (it's not needed, but it looks better ;) ).
Make up times you all will be online and you can play together and TRAIN (<- next step)

Training

This Step is only for teams who want to compete in leagues or tournaments. If you play MM you do not need to train.
Make up a schedule and what you want to train on each day (Spray, 1v2 and so on, Smokes on different maps, etc.)
After the first/second month of being a team you can start with small tournaments.

Tournaments & Leagues

There are tons of organizations which offer tournaments and leagues. For Beginners, I recommend playing FaceIT (play.faceit.com). There are free Tournaments, but also tournaments for people who bought Premium/Unlimited.
Later, you can move on to ESL, CEVO and/or ESEA.

That's it.

That's actually it. If you have some questions you can ask in the comment-section below.

Wondering about this guide, is the real and famous professional CS:GO teams like Tyloo, SK.Gaming, G2 Esports, Fnatic, Astralis, NiP and Virtus.Pro are following this guide?
