Beware New Form Of Scamming!!!

Summary

I recently ran into a scammer on steam in regards to Counter Strike: Global Offensive. They attempted to scam me, but ended up scamming my friend instead. They take advantage of peoples' kindness and blindside them with this sneaky new method.

How They Scam

They add you and request help for something like a tournament. Once they convince you to help them they will give you a link to a rather legit looking website. (In my case the website was vulcan.cc which was featured on numerous well known sites like PC Gamer and such.) The site will have have a link for you to download a client. That client might be a keylogger or something even more malicious like a trojan virus. Once you download that "client" the scammer will have access to your email and Steam login information. They then steal your CSGO inventory and ignore/block you.

How To Protect Yourself

It happens so fast in ways that are extremely sneaky. Follow these simple steps to prevent people from scamming you!

*Never click links from people that just added you!

*Avoid helping strangers on the internet!

*Block and report people that attempt to scam you!

*Don't give out personal information to people you do not know!

*Change your Steam password every now and then!
