As Wheatley clumsily leads Chell through the testing facility, they accidentally wake up GLaDOS - which Chell had previously shut down - in its chamber. In doing so, your body is released from your stasis pod; a pod that has been forgotten and left unattended since the early 1970’s. As you awaken, you suffer memory loss of your reasoning and purpose. Over 60,000 years have passed since you were put in stasis but your visual cortex has been changed unknowingly, providing you a distorted view of the new world (It still looks like the 70s).
