The station does exactly what i want it to do - thx again
I think that the game engine has taken the station as the closest it can get to the port when routing cargo trains. When the train gets there, it finally figures out that it is not possible to do so. It then despawns.
As I say, try putting a cargo station close by, with a road connection to the port and see if that helps.
So it looks like the cargo trains are trying to reach the cargo port (and then giving up when the get as close as they can).
