Egypt Overview
Egypt, also known as cp_egypt or cp_egypt_final, is a community made, control point map divided into three sections (Much Like Dustbowl)
It was created by Sean "Heyo" Cutino and was released during the Scout Update, along with cp_junction (also made by Heyo) and arena_watchtower

The Objective of the game in Egypt is:
RED: Defend a tomb of Gold by halting BLU team's advance.
BLU: Capture all points and get to the tomb of gold before your time runs out.

They have two hazards, Celing Traps, and Fire from torches.
Ammo Drops- Small:2 Medium:6 Large:4
Health Drops-Small:4 Medium:7 Large:7

In an overall Statement, this map is very favorable to Scouts, Engineers, Pyros, and Spies, while being somewhat difficult for slower classes, such as Demomen,Soliders, and Heavies.

This information is found from the Official TF2 wiki, as well as the Author's Player Experience.

Authors Note

Egypt was my first map that I played, and it has been one of my favorites since i started tf2 in 2012, I have also met many friends on it as well. I hope this guide is very informative about one of the best made community maps in tf2 to date!

Stage 1
Stage 1 consists of Two Control Points, and Each Point has areas around it.
BLU's Spawn is rather large, Like most of the Blu Spawns in Egypt, the doors stay completely closed during setup, and lower afterward. This can cause leaving spawn as BLU rather difficult at first, especially in stage 1.

Point A

  • The A Control Point is located on a raised platform with ramps leading to it. It is near the BLU spawnpoint. There are ramps and platforms located around it, along with a few on the sides of the walls. there is a large set of Columns covering the Point. It is rather difficult for rocket and sticky jumping players to cross, so usually the ramps are taken.
Note: Once Point A IS Captured, the closer entrance for red team slowly closes. then the celing within it starts to fall, crushing anyone unfortunate enough to be trapped within it.

  • -A small Couryard leads from Point A, with a couple ramps and catwalks. Along with a set of stairs leading to the Point B tunnels, as well as a main Chokepoint to B.
  • -To the other side of Point A, a larger Courtyard curves around to Point B's Checkpoint.

Point B

  • The Second Control Point of the stage is around high ground, in a large, bowl like shape, with the point in the center. The main entrance is a very major chokepoint. It is a large area and a good place for Snipers and Engineers. The fact that there are a lot of access points makes flanking a very real possibility.
  • A Small Courtyard is at the end of large tunnels. It is only accessable by the tunnel stairs or jumping (If you are able.), making it inaccessable to many defenders,
  • Accessable mainly through the smaller courtyard of A, The Tunnels extend to the Control Point, and may be very useful for teams to flank eachother.

Here is a Demonstration of the Ceiling trap after Point A is Captured

Stage 2
Stage 2 is the middle length of the map, and is a slightly larger map than stage 1.

Point A

The Control point is located on a very high up structure, which has one connection to a bridge and another structured platform aligned with BLU spawn. There are two pathways to connect to the building.
One thing to note is that Control Point A is a very well Sniper area, for both teams.
RED Snipers can shoot any incoming attackers froma very high up, sometimes unoticable position. However, BLU Snipers may fire upon unsuspecting Defenders, including RED Snipers.
There are two pathways to the Point. One on the left leads to a more hidden route, which leads up a set of stairs and a ramp.
The Second is through a small Courtyard and up a large flight of stairs, which is more open.
Both ways will access the Bridge and Platform, as well as a ramp right next to the farthest-to-the-left BLU Spawn Door.

Point B

Point B consists of two sections. The Buildings and the Control point itself. The buildings are used primarily as a chokepoint for RED and BLU. It has three entrances, one being a gate which meets to the level of the point. The Point Itself is elevated with RED spawn, and accessable by two staircases on either side of it. The Columns and Arch are all accessable to many, and provide very profecient Sniper Cover.

Point B is one that provides enough room around it to be excellent for defensive sentry cover. However, It also has enough hiding spaces that a profecient Spy on BLU may be able to counter it.

Stage 3.
Stage Three is the Largest and final stage of the Map.

Point A

Point A is, like the first point on the second stage, is on very high ground. It features many points of access and plenty of hiding spots for spies and other classes.
It features a large opening above one spawn door, which RED may use to their advantage. Outside of the spawn is a large valley that leads to the many staircases to the large building in the center of the valley. The building has two bridges, one connecting it to a side ledge with a ramp and a small building to hide in, and another to connect it to the point.

By BLU spawn is another area to access the point. there is a winding, large set of stairs that lead to a top building, where attackers can fire upon the point, as a way to catch any defenders off guard. Overall, the A Point of this map is a very sniper, scout and spy friendly area. With plenty of hiding spots and plenty of open spaces.

Point B

The Final Control Point is sort of like the last point on the first stage. It is more of in a bowl shape, surrounded by high ground. A large Courtyard is where most fighting appears, and connecting it with Point A are a large series of tunnels, with two main entrances and one small one, through a gate in a more highly elevated area.

Once the Point is Captured, a door opens in front of it. The door has a staircase leading to a tomb, with a sarcophagus filled with coins, this being the treasure RED must protect.

i've had more fun playing egypt than a lot of other maps, even if it's generally a steamroll for attackers

Ahhhh, Eygpt!. I remember noobie old me (over 1 year ago) kill five people in one life as a demo by just raining a shell load of stickies on the first point. I need to play this map more.
