Abysm (v.489)

Description
Abysm is a mod designed to enhance Torchlight II without radically altering balance or game mechanics. My goal is to offer high quality content that blends seamlessly with vanilla Torchlight 2 content, and stays true to the original game's design.

Abysm includes a simple balance adjustment to the Vitality stat, increased view distance for interior locations, improved skill respec, extra level 'chunks' (by Abe), and one item: The Abysm Map.

This mod will not bind to your character.

ABYSM BOTTOMLESS DUNGEON

-The Abysm Map is sold by Compass the Map Seller, and used like any other Mapworks Map.
-Abysm is a bottomless dungeon, with 20 level variations occurring in random order.
-The dungeon starts at your current character level, and increases by 1 level per floor.
-Level 100 characters will also find level 125 Abysm Maps for sale.
-Abysm floors are, on average, smaller than regular Mapworks dungeon floors, and more densely populated.
-Custom spawn classes for each level, with monsters that make sense together, thematically.
-A comprehensive selection of Torchlight 2 creatures, to be found (and murdered) in their natural habitats.
(Since all levels of Abysm are interior, aesthetically pleasing environments were chosen where 'natural habitat' was not possible.)
-Horde levels - A few of the levels are short (minimum map size, 1 chunk), but have a massive amount of enemies.
-Chance for a boss to spawn on any floor (aside from Horde levels). There are 20 different bosses.

IMPROVED SKILL RESET NPCs

-The Skill Reset NPCs will now allow you to respec any and all skill points.
-Skills cost considerably less to respec. At character level 100, a level 15 skill costs 12,500g.

I've changed the UI into a scrolling list that allows you to find and reset any skill point you've spent.
(Up to 144 skill points. 12 more than maximum, for custom classes/mods that give extra skill points)

INCREASED VIEW DISTANCE

-Increased 'Camera Mult' (maximum zoom-out distance) for all interior zones throughout the game, giving better visibility in dungeons.
-Increased 'Active Distance' (draw distance for enemies) for interior zones throughout the game.

In the vanilla game, most exterior zones have a Camera Mult of 1.2, while interior zones are set to 1. I've increased the Camera Mult and Active Distance of interiors to match that of exteriors.

BALANCE CHANGES TO VITALITY

-Vitality stat provides twice the armor bonus compared to the vanilla game. This brings the bonus in line with other stat bonuses like the Strength bonuses to Damage and Crit Damage.
-Vitality provides twice the health bonus compared to the vanilla game.

A character with 500 Vitality will have about 60% higher armor values and 1800 more health than he/she would in vanilla TL2. This does not undermine the value of Dodge/Block/Reflect, or the almighty Limoany and Riechliu Skulls, but players like myself who prefer more balanced character stats will enjoy a modest increase in survivability. Your character's increased Health and Armor will revert back to normal if you stop using this mod.

EXTRA CHUNKY (v5) by Abe

This adds some wonderful variety to the maps that I can't imagine anyone would not want in their game. This is not my creation, but I feel it is a perfect fit with Abysm, so I have gone ahead and included it. Full credit goes to Abe for his fine work.

COMPATIBILITY

While Abysm was originally intended to stand on it's own, and simply improve upon the few areas of the game I felt were lacking, I do my best to keep it compatible with other mods.

In most cases, mod load order probably won't matter with ABYSM.
However, if you are using Synergies and ABYSM together, place ABYSM below Synergies in the mod load order.
Likewise if you are using another mod that alters, for example, the Skill Reset NPCs or View Distance (and you want the other mod's version in your game) then place ABYSM below that mod in the mod load order.

FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS WELCOME!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I ran into the Netherlord the other day. Pretty cool.

@Allerdyne: I started with the bosses that could already be found in Mapworks dungeons, and then added others from throughout the game. To be honest, I don't remember which parts of the game they all came from. They were just bosses that I thought were cool, and fit in with the levels I had created. Like the original game's Mapworks bosses, they are a kind of generic version, with a different name and loot table, possibly some different abilities.

The description mentions 20 different bosses. Can someone give me an idea of which ones? Any of the bosses found at the end of each act?

Almost essential mod for endgame purposes. Should you ever get back to enhancing this gem (and I hope you do), maybe add even more dungeons for additional diversity. If outdoor areas are out of the question, maybe some of the more exotic dungons from the original campaign can be considered. Examples: Lost Okwari Caves, Wellspring Treasury, Ice Labs. Players don't get to see these so often during regular playthroughs, so adding those might feel like new content to some degree. Anyway, great job!

@MoraedoN: It should be. The one that is higher in mod list will take precedence.

Thank you!

Abysm does a great job adding additional end-game content while staying true to the gameplay and balance of the vanilla game!

The level 125+ Abysm dungeon, with increased monster density, does wonders providing fun and challenging content for a max-level and well geared character!

Which of the files inside do I delete, so I just have the Abysm dungeon feature without breaking anything in the mod when I compile it myself?

I would absolute LOVE this mod if it were just a bunch of cool new mapworks maps, but i don't download it because i don't want the imposition of respec changes (i want other respec mod) and stat changes
