EASY SOLUTION to get Max Payne 2 running on a modern PC!

This will guide you through the steps to make Max Payne 2 run on newer PC's.

5 Easy Steps

1) Download ReShade 0.19.2 Public Beta (UPDATED LINK)

Put "mediafire" where the missing part of the url is (in between both periods). For some reason Steam removes the media fire link.

2) Extract the file you just downloaded and then run the "ReShade Setup.exe".

3) Click on "Select Game" and then choose the "maxpayne2.exe".

4) It won't be able to Auto-Detect the DirectX version so manually select the "Direct3D8".

5) Now click "Run MaxPayne 2 Application" and it should work! It might give you an error the first time you try to run it. That just means you need to launch it directly from Steam and it will work.

You can now run Max Payne 2 from Steam whenever you like!

This works for both Max Payne 1 and 2.

OPTIONAL - Graphics Mods and "SweetFX 2.0 (Running on ReShade)"

If you want you can you can use SweetFX that comes with ReShade for Max Payne 2. This was never possible before ReShade existed. I've been using SweetFX with a couple mods for Max Payne 2 and it's actually a pretty great improvement graphically.

This allowed me to start the game, but now the frame stutters whenever I move my mouse, and the game freezes for a solid 5 seconds everytime I quicksave or pause. Does anyone know a way to fix these things?

Im so glad for this guide, my steam says I have 53 hours in the game but thats just because it glitched saying still open even after force quitting Steam, never got to actually play, until I followed this guide and now it finally actually plays

Max Payne 2 already runs out of the box on Win 7+ so if you cant run it, its a problem with your install of windows/drivers

Guess I'm just unlucky one.
All combinations of cracked exe files, fixes and compatibility modes only got me as far as the intro sequence during which I'm getting the BSOD (funny, eh?).
Your fix actually got me into the main menu, but within a minute of a first cutscene I also got the BSOD.

My system is 64bit Win7 Professional and I have a Radeon card with current drivers. Unfortunately MP2 didn't get such a great-working community patch as the MP1, which is working flawlessly on my PC.
