The Undaunted

Only players who’ve seen enough battle can take on pledges—you’ll need to be level 45 or higher to obtain them. When you reach 45, the Undaunted will contact you via in-game mail and invite you to their new enclaves, which are located near capital cities. Once you arrive, you’ll be able to start picking up pledges and sharing in the spoils of conquest. Just sign your name in the pledge book to swear your dedication to taking on some of Tamriel's deadliest enemies without flinching! You'll get your first reward (a bronze key—more on those later) just for showing up at the Undaunted enclave.

There are two types of pledges: Non-Veteran and Veteran. Non-Veteran Pledges are available right away at level 45, and Veteran Pledges open up at Veteran Rank 1. You can have both a Veteran and Non-Veteran Pledge in your quest log at the same time, but you can only complete each kind of pledge once a day.

Pledges require you to complete a particular dungeon, and always have optional objectives your party can try to complete for better rewards. When you’ve completed the pledge, you’ll return to the enclave for your reward: a bronze, silver, or gold (depending on performance and the type of pledge) key that unlocks special chests at the enclave, along with reputation with the Undaunted. To get a gold key, you’ll have to complete difficult optional objectives in a Veteran Pledge, so make sure to bring allies who are up to the challenge!

The Undaunted chests can contain a variety loot, from valuable Ornate items and soul gems to the unique shoulder pieces fashioned from the bosses you’ve slain (you can get the helms that go with them from the bosses themselves).

Monster Helm Sets

Monster Helms are unique sets that are thematically based on iconic bosses from each dungeon. These monster helms represent both powerful equipment and trophies, and the helms from each set are acquired by slaying the namesake boss within each set’s respective dungeon. The helm itself drops directly from the boss it represents. The shoulder piece from each set comes as a potential reward from the Undaunted pledge chests as mentioned before, so it’s important to do daily pledges in order to give yourself a chance of acquiring the piece you need.

The item set bonus values are varying depending on the item level and item quality. Some set bonuses like weapon or spell critical are static, however. All Veteran Dungeons prior to City of Ash cap at a maximum veteran rank of VR12, meaning that the helm piece which is dropped by the boss within the dungeon has a maximum possible level of VR12. The shoulders which come from the pledge chests are scaled to your character’s Veteran Rank, and thus can be obtained up through VR14. Most completed sets will be comprised of a VR12 head piece and a VR14 shoulder piece.

It is important to note that all Monster Helm sets are random in both their armor type (Light/Medium/Heavy) as well as their trait (Reinforced, Infused, Divines, etc…). In order to get the “perfect” set, players will need to put a lot of time into farming and hope for a bit of luck on their pledge chest rolls!

Undaunted Sets
Alternatively to potentially obtaining monster shoulder pieces from undaunted chests are Undaunted armor sets which thematically represent the Undaunted guild style. These can only be obtained by completing the daily pledges and opening the chests. Gold Chests have a chance on purple Undaunted gear and Silver Chest have a chance on blue Undaunted gear. Much like the Monster Helm sets, the traits which come on Undaunted armor pieces are randomized, so it’s possible to get any of the combat traits for each set piece. Unlike the Monster Helms, the armor type for the first two sets, the Undaunted Unweaver and the Undaunted Infiltrator are both fixed. The Unweaver set only ever is found in Light Armor, the Infiltrator is always Medium. It has been confirmed, however, that it is possible to obtain the Undaunted Bastion set in any of the three base armor types.

City of Ash Sets
City of Ash sets are three armor sets unique to the new Veteran mode of the City of Ash dungeon. Like Undaunted armor sets, these always come in a pre-defined type. For example the “Burning Spellweaver” set is always found as Light Armor. It is (as of yet) unknown whether the traits on these pieces are randomized or static.
