Lex Talionis II

Description
Compatible with EU IV 1.13.1

Lex Talionis II is a sort of spiritual successor to my EU III mod of the same name. LT II is a total overhaul mod that focuses on improving domestic affairs and giving the player more options, while also producing a more challenging and rewarding experience. As of right now, the mod is primarily centered on Europe, but this will likely change in the future.

I had a link to a download of the mod's manual on here, but Steam removed it. The manual is located in the mod's folder, but if would like to read it without subscribing then you can find a link on our forum thread (link above)

FAQ
Q. Why the name Lex Talionis? It doesn't really seem to make sense.
A. When I first started creating LT for EU III, it was originally just a mini-mod focused on improving espionage. Lex Talionis was a very fitting name for this mod, however LT continued to grow larger until it eventually became a total overhaul mod. I became quite fond of the name, and decided to keep it for the EU IV version.

Q. Why is the mod not considered version 1.0 or higher? Is this a beta?
A. No, this is not a beta. All the mod’s current features should work without issues (though some are lacking flavor). The reason that I don’t consider it version 1.0 is because the mod is missing several of the features that I had originally planned to have done for the initial release.

Q. Is this compatible with mod ___ or mod ___?
A. Probably not, LT II changs a lot of files. So some minor mods may work with it, but most mods won't work properly.

Q. Why can’t I get any claims in the beginning of the game?
A. The history files aren’t set up for children. So the only characters available for marriage will be rulers, heirs, and distant family members. Since very few rulers or heirs are female, this creates the situation where almost all marriages in the beginning will involve a distant family member, which won’t give claims. After about two decades of game play, there should be daughters who are of age and available for marriage. I plan to eventually add accurate histories of the children of rulers for the first bookmark.

Q. Why do some events have options with no effects?
A. Your ruler’s traits change based upon the actions and policies of your ruler. Thus if an option doesn't have an effect then it is likely a flavor option that will in some way impact the traits of your ruler.

Q. I got an event that states that the nobles are unhappy, which didn't make sense since the nobles in my country are pleased with my ruler.
A. That was likely a vanilla event. LT II’s features have not yet been integrated into vanilla events and decisions.

9/9/2020 Update - Figured I would post this here for anyone that missed my previous comments. I'm no longer working on this mod. I've already given my permission for two other mod teams to use my work, and even gave one of them all of code that was written but never made public. So far I haven't heard anything from either team about their progress.

Finally! A good dynasty mod which is a mechanic that has honestly been the red-head stepchild of the devs and game!

Hey i'm representing Victorum Universalis, a total overhaul mod, and I was wondering if we could incorporate some of your code into our mod. This mod has some absolutely amazing ideas overlooked by everyone including game devs and I want to bring it to new light with VU.

I'm not sure what the issue could be, as it's been working for that version of the game for years without any issue. Only thing I can think of is that it's part of the mandatory security updates for the game's multiplayer, perhaps those were for all versions of the game rather than just the mod recent one. If that is the case, then unfortunately the mod won't be playable anymore. I'll have to test for myself, and if that ends up being the case then I'll just take the mod down. Thanks for making me aware of the issue.

Your dynasty system is remarkable, and really ahead of anything modders have done since. I yearn to see it in a modern overhaul, could you point me in the direction of the mod teams who you gave permission to use your work? Thanks.

I'm no longer working on this mod. I announced this a while back, but just realized that I never updated the mod's description about this, thus I've updated the "Announcement and News" section. Have a good day :)
