May I present: "Got Medieval?" -- PA's worst dungeon. The new "permanent solitary" feature led me to wonder, how far can we push the idea of an evil prison? I'm not an evil person, but I had to run this thought experiment. The goal and the result is a prison with over 1200 solitary cells (with an active death row), where no needs are fulfilled except for food. And even the food isn't all that (one bucket a day of slop).

It surprisingly runs at a profit of over $100k a day. The prison runs surprisingly fast for its population, certainly faster than other 1k+ prisoner prisons I've downloaded. I think it's because of the relatively small size. If you play, you must know what types of prisoners are going to cause trouble, and shunt them off into the supermax area. Mostly Legendaries, Stoics, and Instigators. Now once there, they don't really survive that long with FreeFire on, but who's counting?

Currently, there are four major bugs that significantly affect the operation of this prison. Some, or all, are being fixed in Alpha 32, but be aware:

1. The kitchen is completely bypassed for any prisoner that eats guard-delivered food (which means everyone in this prison). Ingredients are delivered, but never used, and the cookers are never turned on. Instead, meals are delivered directly to serving tables from the outside! See http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=8387.

2. Prisoners in permanent solitary/lockdown are never released. Their name flashes "released", but they stay in the prison until you remove the punishment. Very annoying, so every so often I just edit the save to reset everyone's time served. Luckily this is being fixed in Alpha-32: http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=8191. It's much more fun to play when there is a constant outflux and influx of new prisoners.

3. Doctors constantly bug out on injured or dead prisoners. Fixed in Alpha-32: http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=8139 and http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=8157.

4. Injured prisoners can glitch into walls and become trapped. You need to bust down the walls to let them out. http://bugs.introversion.co.uk/view.php?id=8385

Alright, enough of that experiment. My next prison will be the exact opposite... I'm going to see how far I can take 1200 MaxSec and Death Row prisoners in the other direction, with luxury, rehab, and a healthy work regime.

Alpha 32 version is out... ridiculously enough there is no way to update an existing prison, you must create a new item:

Thanks for the mention in the alpha-32 video guys. :) I will update this prison by the end of the weekend for the new alpha. Kitchen will definitely need a redo now that it can be used for solitary prisoners.

I wonder if you can box prisoners up in a room with no doors.
Just wall them off.

Actually, they'd probably die.

I don't normally comment on prisons like these, but I wonder about the pit style prisons. Just a massive holding cell and no cells at all. Near full time in lockdown. Basic necessities and guards... many armed guards... Hrm.... that could be tough if you get the 25 death warning. Better make sure all needs met during lockdown...

I say if you wanted to be cruel build a fence into a perminant solitary prison and all prisoner's die in 24 hours its hard but when you get the rutine going you make loads and you don't have to worry about anything apart from paying guards

It took me a few days to make this. I felt quite guilty immediately afterwards, so I went ahead and built a luxury max-sec prison that honestly is a lot more fun to play. But I will come back to this with Alpha-32 because I'll certainly have to redo the kitchen.

I am honestly curious if it's possible to create a _less_ humane prison than this one, though...

I did the same idea with pernement solitary and made all my cells outside i got to 200 prisoners before i decide enough was enough, when prisoners were sleeping in there own puke (the new solitary is so over powerd)
