How to customise Alien: Isolation Text and Audio Languages... Seperately...
Por Wolfe
So, I'm trying to learn German and thought it would be fun to just be able to listen to German dubbing on Alien Isolation while I play...
The problem is that when you change the language, EVERYTHING is changed to that language...
I am creating this guide for anyone who is still frustrated with trying to have text and audio in seperate languages but doesn't know how to do it!
CAUTION: there is some reprogramming involved!
Still a bit of a work in progress, but this is the basics I have found so far.

Step 1
For those who don't know how, this is the first step into customising the language options in your Alien: Isolation game.

Before we begin: The most basic change of languages can be done by right clicking onto your Alien: Isolation game in the Library of your steam account, select the last option (Properties).
Go into the (LANGUAGE) tab and you will be able to select your preferred language there.
NOTE: This will change ALL audio and text into the desired language.

If you want to have audio in one language, and text in another, please continue with this guide!

In the (Properties) menu, you will find the tab (BROWSE LOCAL FILES...), select that button.
This button will send you to the base files for your game. Much quicker and easier than manually searching your computer files. (I have my game on a seperate hard drive from my operating system, so it's at least much quicker for me.)

Once here, go into the (DATA) file.
Step 2
Once in the (DATA) file, there are only two files here that you need to look for: (SOUND) and (TEXT).

Now here comes the fun part, I'll walk through what I did to edit my German game, to have English text and interface text.

Go into the (TEXT) file, look for the language file you will be playing the game in.
For me, I want to play in German, but still want to know what is being said, so (GERMAN).
Copy the selected language file and dump it somewhere for safe keeping. This will save you some worry later if you wish to restore it without having to re-download the entire game.

Once your backup has been made and saved somewhere seperate, go into the (GERMAN) file of your game, delete its contents.
Step 3
Now that you have deleted the contents from (GERMAN), go back into the (TEXT) file.

Look for the (ENGLISH) file, go into it and select all of its contents.
Right click on the collectively selected contents and click (Copy).

Time to return to the (GERMAN) folder.
Once there, right click in your empty folder and select (Paste).
Last step
Now all you gotta do is go back to steam, go into your game properties and select the German language for German audio, but English text.

From here you can exit out of properties and play your game.
Thank you!
If anyone can read/speak English and any of the supported languages, and would like to translate this guide so that others can listen in English while still having the comfort of their native language to fall back on, don't hesitate to contact me!

I will be editing this guide to also include how to change just the subtitles in game, once I figure out which files I need to use.

Otherwise thank you for looking through this guide, I hope it has helped, and happy gaming!!

@ZoidbergForPresident I went with the long and fully comprehensive guide for those who might not understand the quick version, and I knew this would be just at least one confirmed method, otherwise, glad I could help

Actually it can be explained quite faster.

SOUNDS folder for sounds
TEXTS folder for text

For english voice over:
Don't touch the sounds folder and put your game in english
Rename the SOUNDS folder of your language (for instance FRENCH) to ENGLISH

But thanks to your guide existence I fixed my issue quite rapidly so thanks for that! :)
