Boreal Dreams v2.0

Description
Nestled somewhere in the far north and wreathed in mist, this beautiful boreal landscape is ready for development. Will you bulldoze over the natural beauty or build a city that compliments it?

A fictional map, three (long) evenings work.

Resources: All (Oil in the northwest)
Transport: All (Ships to the south)
Map Difficulty: Probably quite hard!

If you want everything you will have to use a unlock all tiles mod. If you are playing with the normal restrictions you will have to make some decisions. I suggest making the starting area a corner tile of your eventual nine tiles rather than keeping it as the central tile.

I made the base for the map by combining heightmaps from areas of Iceland, the Galapagos, Snowdonia and the exact spot my house is on, lol. I had to paint the rivers in photoshop using the burn tool because even though they were on the cartographic map, they didn't seem to show up on the heightmap!

All the beaches, dry rivers and a lot of the hills and mountains I then made in the editor.

Have fun!

p.s
Please leave some feedback if you enjoy the map and any suggestions so that I can improve for future maps. Also, ratings are welcome!

Version 2.0 Update: This version *does* now have the proper road connections. I scoured the entire highway to find the piece that was facing the wrong way in the old version. Tested the map, still building my city on it and its working fine. To the north of your starting tile there is an intersection which goes west and east. The west leads off of the map for imports and exports, the east is not connected (and the tool-tip might pop-up to tell you this), it is intended for your own use should you expand to this tile and wish to continue the highway eastwards.

Hey, would it be a possibility to re-create this map for Snowfall?
Thanks.

Thank you WoodMan fo rthe grea tmap. Please take my following comments as constructive feedback.

While I enjoyed the layout of the map, I felt that the rivers were not deep enough. I ran into issues with water pumps drying out some areas fairly quickly. Other than that, it was a great map. Looking forward to an update.

Thanks Pilz! I've since learned a little more about th game mechanics, including water, can take that into account for future maps. Cheers!

I normally don't like the boreal maps, this one rules though.
It's my favourite right now.

One small point: the current of the main rover could be a little stronger.
Excellent job woodman!

(now go and make more maps)
