[CSGO] Making a CSGO Autoexec

Getting started! Part 1

Firstly you will need to open a text document.
This can be notepad, word, wordpad or Notepad++
In this tutorial, I will be using Notepad++, however, 99% of what I do is exactly the same across all word processing applications.

Now, lets say you want your autoexec for the purpose of binding the keyboard character "V" to call a vote in competetive.

Write on the first line:
bind "v" "callvote"

Skip a line and write:
"host_writeconfig"

The command you are running is "bind", the letter you are binding is "v" and the command you are running when you press that button is now "callvote", which is the command to call a vote! This will be better than having to press ESC and pressing the callvote button.

'host_writeconfig' is a command... It does complicated stuff I don't get, but trust me, it just needs to be there xD Ill assume it writes your autoexec to the default game cfg, but don't quote me on that.

Well done! You just wrote a CSGO script!

Getting Saved! Part 2

Alright! So now we have a script that is just floating in a text file, we need to save it to put it in a context that CSGO can read and recognise.

Click 'File' > Save As

Name: autoexec
Save as type: Normal Text File (*.txt)

Find the place you saved the file > Click 'Organise' in the top left > Folder and Search Options > View > Find the box that says 'Hide extensions for known file types' and UNTICK THIS BOX

Click Apply and close that window. Now, right click on your autoexec file and click 'rename' and remove the '.txt' extension and replace it with '.cfg'. This will convert the file from a text format to config that CSGO can read!

The Final Step! Part 3

Alright! You have a nice little cfg file, however, it's not in the right place.

Go to your main computer drive
Program Files (x86) [FOR 64 BIT WINDOWS]
Program Files [FOR 32 BIT WINDOWS]
If you dont know, just find the Program Files that contains a folder titled "steam"
Steam > SteamApps > Common > Counter-Strike: Global Offensive > CSGO > cfg
Program Files > Steam > userdata > YourSteamID* > 730 > local > cfg

Here, you will find heaps of .cfg files!
If you cant find this place, keep searching.

Once here, drag and drop your autoexec into this folder (or copy and paste).
Now, right click on the cfg file called "config" and click 'properties'.

UN-TICK the box that says "Read only", click Apply and close it.
Now open up the 'Config.cfg' file with a word processor and go to the bottom of the file.
Make a new line and type in the command "exec autoexec"
Now, whenever the game loads up it will automatically run your autoexec.cfg file!

Now, when you load up CS:GO, you will find if you press the 'V' key, you will be able to call a vote!
