How to install a HUD [I'M SURE ITS OUTDATED]

A simple guide just to explain how to install a custom HUD in tf2.

What is a Hud ?

SO, what is a HUD ? (for you Gibus Guy who just started the game...)

A HUD stands for Head Up Display, The HUD gives you informations about what is going on in the game.

Example :



With the default HUD, you can see what weapon you are using, your health, your ammo, the time, the objectives, the chat, your killstreak, your character model, the kill list, ...

Installing a HUD

So, now you know what is a HUD, it's time to put it into your game !

You just need to open the files of your computer and navigate to your Team Fortress Folder
( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf )

In the TF folder, you have the game ressource. Create a folder named "Custom" in the TF folder.


This folder is the AMAZING CUSTOM THINGS FOLDER. All your custom stuff goes in there, including your HUD !

So, to install a HUD, you just need to place the folder you downloaded into the Custom Folder that you created ! Isn't that simple ?

as long as you stick to trusted sites and locations like huds.tf or gamebanana you should be fine. but if you experience issues you can just take the hud out of the custom folder
