Fenrir and you
Fenrir is a interesting concept, Similar to Ra in that his form somewhat dictates his playstyle, rather then a simple power increase, rather he will shift form range/zoning (human) to melee(wolf).

Idealy this would make him quite balanced able to be a good switch hitter. In this guide i will simply give you a list of thigns you are able to do with fenrir, with slight noob gameplay tips.
Fenrir humanside

Fenrir's human form is that of a SUPER BUFF guy who apparently uses a bow (why that combo i do not know). But gameplaywise he is a ranged/zoning character. lets breakdown his abilities

ranged attack: his arrow shot, it has a lobbed trajectory and with one hit tends to stun/knockdown opponents. This is the basis of his zoning game, able to freely interupt opponents movement and actions while switching targets. 6 shots

special 1: arrow volley, he covers a VERY wide horizontal plane with arrows, good to initiate even from afar as it keeps pressure on the enemy as it covers such a wide area. great for when the enemy teamates are too close together as well. you get 2 shots then must manually reload this to use it again.

Special 2: bouncing grenade, he tosses a blue sphere that bounces, you must press the ability again to detonate it in a largeish explosion. Its difficult to use and i would never suggest using it on its own but rather finishing a combo with it (as it stuns/slows enemies). The most basic combo is land your ranged attack and immediatly follow it up with the bouncing bomb and detonate it, low damage, just an example of the windowframe to use it. 3 shots in this

Shield wall: isntead of a simple down+melee attack combo he has instead a energy wall he places and ducks behind, you can shoot and throw grenades over this, and instantly dash cancel out from it but it is very weak, only absorbing one attack from anything, so if a attack has fast multiple hits you are going to get hit. in almost all situations you are better suited to dodge or guard the attack. so dont bother

human form chain grab: All characters have typically...forward melee, side melee, and back melee (tho fenrir doesnt have this), human chain grab however is when you initiate any of his melee combos then after the first or second hit you hold down and attack again, he will throw a chain out and wrap it around the enemy, shocking him/her. This is useful because as with his grenade explosion, it slows enemies. if you keep repssing melee it will tick damage on them and hold him in place longer, useful, but also puts you at risk of being hit by a wary teamate.

Basics on human form

Human form is slow slow SLOW. the only time you shouldnt be dashing/canceling is when you use his dash sprint (i am unsure if other characters can do this) wich steadily drains his stamina but allows him fast movement. as such its not a form where you really want to try to simply run around in. Rather you play him as a zoner. what do i mean? i mean learn to LOVE dash canceling, guard canceling, and canceling the animation on his ranged attack to make yourself harder to hit. his ranged attack hits decently hard and has a good stun/knockdown. you can really hamper the enemy with constant interrupts.

but what to do when your being targeted? your so slow!

this is where yoru guards/dashes/and cancels come in handy. you can cut any animation shorter with a dash cancel basically...right after you shoot? dashcancel, right after you guard? dash cancel. you can also do the dash cancel right before. this will cut the animation on his ranged attack so you can do it faster. KEEP IN MIND that you cant dash cancel more then 3 times back to back without running out of stamina, you will be punished when you run out of stamina

a good strategy is to dash cancel a enemy attack, follow with a ranged attack, and then immediatly followed with a special 1...if you do this you can use special one as a special move cancel...you will cancel the ranged attack quickly and then cast your special one, you can also do this with special 2, tho the added time needed to manually detonate special 2 makes it more easily punishable.

Generally try to keep space, if you cant keep space, do a dash melee (or side direction melee). but DONT CONNECT...rather, side direction melee, into dash cancel, into neutral melee combo popup, followed by special 2, you will be at optimum range to detonate it and the enemy will have nearly no chance to avoid it, and will be subsiquently slowed as well.

let me try to illustrate it.

-> melee+dash cancel+neutral meleex3+special2+special2 activate

When do i go wolf form?

wolf form has access to fenrir's highest damage melee combo (224-230 damage, we will explain that later) generally i found wolf form most beneficial in two areas

1-to punish mistakes when enemies are close
2-to be more evasive when your being targeted by 2 enemies at once.

we will get into wolf form more later tho.

Fenrir's Wolf side

Fenrir's wolf form is faster, with a faster dash that also stops faster (read, jerky motion) and is capable of higher melee damage. it still has a projectile but it travels in a straight line as opposed to a overhead arc, meaning it can be blocked by terrain more easily. Generally wolf form is faster and more powerful, but is more melee oriented.

Fenrir basic attacks

ranged attack: shoots a large orb out of his mouth in a straight line, like his human form it knocks down/stuns. however it also travels in a straight line, meaning its easier to get blocked on terrain.

special 1: area chain stun, shoot all his chains out in a wide area doing electricity damage ticks, this stuns enemies caught in the area and slows them, can hit both enemies at once. I have yet to find how to effectively combo it in any meaninful way. a good quick area stun tho.

special 2: Chain grab, shoot your chains in a straight line grabbing/piercing the enemy and holding them in place. you have a few options at this point, you can SLAM them into the earth with a reverse backflip ending the hold, you can headbutt them with the forward melee knocking them away, or you can bring them in close for a full melee combo. generally for damage you want the full combo, however if your using this chain grab towards the end of a combo, just hitting once with neutral melee will be most damage (explain this more later, part of his highest damage combo)

combo 1: > or < combo, not realy a combo as so much a large area interrupt/knockdown. you side dash into a tail spin and can frequently hit both enemies. a decent tool if your trying to be evasive and avoid getting completly doubleteamed while your teamate respawns.

combo 2: forward combo, this is the fastest to initiate, and the hardest one to interrupt due to your dashing/teleporting during the animation, its also one of the lesser damage attacks.

combo 3:back combo, this is the slowest to initiate, it also takes out the enemy for the longest time, but also makes you easy to hit (as your just standing there on the ground eating his face basically).

combo 4: neutral combo, this is the hadest hitting of his combos, and is a medium ground between forward/back combo as far as being hit goes.

Highest damage combo chain: often best way to initiate. side attack into dash cancel into neutral combo into popup into chain grab into neutral combo hit...this does 224-230 damage.

when to wolf form

wolf form is a highly aggressive beast, and is best used when your forced into melee, proving that you are nto easily cornered and overwhelmed. from human form you have several ways to turn into wolf form.

transform 1: neutral transform, you transform, no frills.

transform 2: back transform, you transform into a claw up lunge causing a knockback, esily punished

transform 3: side transform, best one as its evasive, but instead of landing it (single hit knockback) do it into a dash cancel and then perform the highest damage combo i have listed above.

once in wolf form you will find that you have a faster base speed then human form, but no sprint, rather you have a extremely fast pounce as a dash cancel with a equally abrupt stop. this gives a jarring motion to some.

what if i want to get back into human form?

if for some reason you find you want to go back into human form you have a few options.

option 1: default transform...just transform into human form, easy enough if your not being pressured

option 2: dash cancel human form, you turn into a human while rolling as a specail dash cancel

option 3: dash cancel human form attack, the dash cancels can themselves be canceled into a ranged/melee attack allowing you to quickly keep rpessure and keep opening space.

the better question is...why do i want to go back to human form?

well if your being outzoned, lost your melee advantage, or are running out of uses on some abilities, you may want to switch back. if your on the offensive and want to keep your opponent from instantly adapting to your playstyle id suggest finishing a combo with the option 3, human form dash cancel into attack. This will QUICKLY get you into human form without losing pressure or mobility, and you can immediatly switch back to your range/zoning game. not the best damage, but can be better suited to keeping your momentum going.

wolf form is plain better then human form

if your just trying to melee id say yes, human form may seem slightly weaker, but has a much better zoning coverage with his bombs and special 1 ability.

thats about all i have, this isnt hte best guide, but i hope it helps a few people.

Of that I have nothing to contest. My biggest issue is I fight against a lot of teams that are 1 stock characters and they always gun for me if I'm the highest stock, which.. tends to be the case since the slayer release. So I had to adapt and use my sweep a lot more :P

thats a case in any competitive style game where you dont know the person your playing with and use voice chat. not hte fault of the class.

But being realistic, in early levels...you don't tend to have competent team mates, I've had a handful of losses that were no fault of my own.. such as not dying, having several kills etc. etc.
It is less and less the higher ranking I have... usually. But still happens

if your teamate is not pulling his/her weight then yes, the opposing team can just destroy them while simultaenously avoiding your ranged. however, if your teamate is semi competent and can actually put up a fight, you will often times catch players in your ranged attacks,w ich will stun/knock them down so YOUR team member can dish out the damage.

An addition, there is a time limit, zoning and range is fine... but not time effective, and in a game where the one that is the most threat tends to be the main focus... you'll sit back as your team mate gets destroyed by their barrages, your arrows are slow, and with any distance they can simply step out of the way, maybe even by attacking your partner. Wolf chain spin is highly effective for damage and lock down on any smaller character, like Lillith and Slayer, who rely heavily on speed. If timed right you can drop about half their hp in a single spin.. It tends to make them think hard on whether they want to rush at you again.
