YEAR 1 WALKTHROUGH GRIM FANDANGO

A walkthrough for Year 1 in Grim fandango! I might add the other 3 aswell!
I have tried to keep this guide as simple and spoiler free as possible. But it still MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS!

YEAR 1 - El Marrow

NOTE: In some parts of the guide small pieces of the story might be mentioned! Other than that i will ONLY write what to do!

First thing you have to do is pick up a letter from the pneumatic tubing system.


Then head over to the other side of Manny's office and pick up a deck of cards on the table.


While holding the deck of cards in your hands, press enter to take one out.


Get out of Manny's office, go down the hall and go over to Eva's desk. Use the card on the holepunch and get it full of holes.
You will need this later!


Put the card in your inventory. Now get into the elevator to the left, It will take you down to the garage. Walk over to the small shack on the other side of the garage and knock on the door.
Behold.. Glottis!
Convince him to be your driver. You will be given a workorder to modify one of the cars.



Head back up to the office area. Then take the other elevator down to the lobby, use the big door to exit the building.


Head to the right and you should see and hear a big carnival, go towards it.
Go over to the bread tent and pick up some bread. Then talk to the clown and ask him to make you a Robert frost ballon animal and also ask him for 2 Dead worms.
You will need these things later!


Now go left of the tents into the alley. At the end of it you should see a long rope made out of ties, climb it!


Walk along the edge and climb the window into the office. Go over to the computer and change the automatic response to the following...Ah, cripes, Eva! Just sign it yourself, will ya! I'm busy!


Now go all the way back to Eva and give the workorder to her.


Take out your scythe from your inventory and cut open the bag!


Now you're back at the office so and you can now enter Domino's office. Go in there and have a chat with him


Your main mission right now is to steal one of his clients!
Start out by going down to the lobby again and into the packing room.
You will meet another nice fellow in your way there, just follow him and you'll get to the packing room.


Remember the two "dead worms" you got from the clown earlier?
Fill one of them with liquid from the red tube and the other from the blue tube


Now get out of the packing room and go to the left, this will take you to the server room.
Pick up the fire extinguisher.


Now head back to your office and shove both the balloons you filled with liquid into the pneumatic tubing system!This will disable it.


Now head back down into the server room and you will see that it's being repaired. While the door is open, interact with it and you will lock it!
Feel free to have a chat with Brennis for an achievement!
Leave the room and Brennis should be done with the repairs. But as he closes the door it dosen't completely shut. So get in there!


Remember that card you punched a bunch of holes in?
Take out the card and use it on the tube.


Now talk to Meche and then head out of your office, down to Eva's desk. You will be taken to your boss's office!


As you can see you are now trapped in Glottis shack! Go to the door and knock on it and a mysterious figure will start talking with you through the window! Tell him that you're not loyal to the Dod.


Now that you're in the LSA headquarters, have a chat with both Salvador and Eva.


In order to continue you need to give the LSA two thing: Pigeon eggs and a fake set of your teeth.Take the elevator out of the headquarters and climb the rope of ties again


This time, Walk to the left of you boss's office and keep walking to the end of the ledge. You will notice Domino's office is empty. So open his window and climb inside.


First head to his deskdrawers and take the chunk of coral wich happens so look alot like grappling hook.


Then go to the other side of his desk and start punching the speedbag a couple of times until his mouthpiece falls off. Pick it up, climb out the window and go back to the rope.


Go a little to the right of the rope and pick up the loose end of it. While holding it press the inventory button and take out the coral. Use it on the rope and Manny will tie the coral to it. Pick it up and press enter. Now you can climb onto that ladder!


Walk along the roof towards the pigeons. In order to get their eggs you must scare them off.
If you have a Robert Frost balloon you can do an achievement.
Take out the robert frost balloon and put it in the "bowl" thing. Then take out the bread and put it in the bowl aswell, Manny will grind it up into Tiny pieces.
A few pigeons will start eating it and BANG! the balloon exploding will scare off all the pigeons!


Now grab their eggs, get off the roof and climb down to the alley again

YEAR 1 - The Petrified Forest

Now head into the garage and go back to Glottis shack.


Use the mouthpiece on the machine in Glottis shack and it will get covered in gue.
Then bite it! Now you have a perfect mold for your teeth.


Go and talk to the eye on the wall to get back into the LSA headquarters.


Give the birds eggs to Salvador and the Mold to Eva.


Welcome to the Petrified forest!
Go Right and you will find Glottis being quite upset.


Go in the direction Glottis threw his heart. Then to the other side of the net.
You should see a bunch of bones laying on the ground to the right.
Pick one up and throw it at the net!


Now use your scythe on the net and you will send the heart flying all the way back to where glottis is sleeping.


Pick up the heart and shove it back into his chest.


You will now enter the bonewagon with glottis, but before you go anywhere, jump off.
Grab the sign that glottis accidentaly drove into and walk to the top left corner of the area. You will enter a huge open space in the woods and the puzzle is to place the sign in just the right spot for a hidden door to open See picture for location. After opening the gate head back to the bonewagon!


Drive you and Glottis to the far right and you will go to the tree farm.


This puzzle is very simple, start out by pulling the lever. Glottis will get an idea about unbalancing the tree with rocks. As soon as he climbs to the top of the tree, pull the lever again. Glottis will now spin around like crazy.


While Glottis is spinning you need so sync the pistons. The two on the left needs too pump completly synced, and the same goes for the ones to the right. So they end up in a marching rythm(Left...Right...Left...Right See picture so you know exactly). To do this just run over the hoses with the wheelborrow.


The tree will break down and you will get a nice addon for your car!


Remember that door you opened with the sign earlier?
Head over there with the bonewagon and drive down into it.


Now you will see a sign in the middle of a screen. Go over there and read it and Manny is going to shake down an old key. Then get back on the bonewagon and you will automatically ride further into the woods.


Go down towards the gate and enter. You will get scared off, then enter again.


You'll need to get rid of those things to get out of the woods.
Start out by picking up atleast 3 bones from the "dam". Then head left.


Now it's time to get rid of the demon beavers!
You'll see one beaver walking above you at the top of the screen. Take out one of the bones you picked up at the dam and throw it into the tar/water. Quickly pull out the fire extinguisher and wait for the beaver to roar(When it stops roaring, it jumps after the bone!). Immedeatly when it stops roaring/Mid roar, Use the extinguisher and Manny will put the beavers flames out!
Do this 3 times so all the beavers dissapear from the dam and then get back to Glottis.


Welcome to rubacava!
Go up the stairs to the cafe and chat with Cleso about why he's here. He will give you a picture of he's wife.


Then go back down the stairs and into the mist.


After the cutscene go down and show the photo to Velasco.
He will tell you the woman sailed away with another man, tell him you don't believe him and you will get his log book.

Go back up to the cafe and show the book to celso.
First year Completed!
