He didn't make Sauron. Besides making him to his steward. Sauron was Maia and therefore "made" by Ilúvatar.

Because he was faster. But eventually he stumbled in one of the many holes, stamped by Morgoth's hammer "Grond" - and then Morgoth got and killed him - though not before Fingolfin was able to injure Morgoth. A wound that never healed.

The story of Beren and Luthien happened after the fight between Fingolfin and Morogth.

just a pointer not judging but by the time Fingolfin fought Morgoth he(Morgoth) had only two Simarili (because of Beren and Luthien).
