How to play versus in single player on any difficulty.

Would you like to play with bots on expert difficulty as infected?

Playing versus singleplayer

1. Enable your console in settings.
2. Start any map you want on any difficulty or you can type in console
map l4d_vs_
and choose any map you want.
3. Open console and type
sv_cheats 1
sb_all_bot_team 1
mp_gamemode versus

Thats it. Enjoy your game.

Playing coop as infected.

1. Enable your console in settings.
2. Start any map you want on any difficulty.
3. Open console and type
sv_cheats 1
sb_all_bot_team 1
mp_gamemode versus
4. Join team infected and then type in console
mp_gamemode coop
5. You can change difficulty with the voting.

When you die, you will not spawn as ghost like in versus mode, you need to spawn the class you want to be. You will spawn where you were looking at as spectator mode.
z_spawn hunter
z_spawn smoker
z_spawn boomer
z_spawn tank
As I remember, with will not spawn by itself, you need to spawn her too
z_spawn witch
But you cant control her.

Differences between coop and versus

There are some differences between infected in coop and infected in versus mode. Here are some of them.

Hunter
Hunter has special ability. If you press LMB without crawling, hunter will jump forward. Hunter-bots are using this for escape only, but this jump also push survivors for a medium distance.

Smoker
Smoker deals no damage to survivor when he is pulling survivor. Also, the cooldown of this ability is much longer than in versus.

Boomer
Boomer explodes if he jump from high height.

Tank
Sometimes tank makes a "taunt" after succesful punch.

Map
If you think that there are no differences between coop maps and vs maps, then you are wrong. For example, on first map in "No mercy" campaign "Apartments" there is a small alley between street and back street. If you climb on the right building in coop mode, you wil see, that there are no textures of the roof. But you will see them in vs mode.
Another example. Campaign "No mercy", second map "Subway". There is a hole right above the saferoom. There are 2 rooms in vs map, but only one in coop mode.
Also, you cant see infected ladders in coop maps, unlike the vs maps.
So, vs maps are more easier for infected.

Don't think people were confused, instead they think that this method of solo versus is useless if it doesn't allow you to receive achievements. I don't think there is any way of forcing versus mode in solo without sv_cheats if you're not using any plugins

Apparently, some people don't realize that sv_cheats 1 disables receiving achievements, and because of that, playing singleplayer versus is, in fact, completely fine, as you won't be getting any achievements out of it, and so, the only reason why you'd want to play it is to just have fun.

Lol thank you for this but I totally disagree with you too. Using SAM and actually farming yourself for achievements ain't the same thing. Tbh if I see a user using SAM i'm gonna report them just because I think it's ignorant as hell.
