How to write a review for DisplayFusion.
От Special
Normally this game only gives you about a minute worth of "play time" according to Steam during the install process, which unfortunately is not enough time as Valve has set as a minimum amount of 5 minutes needed to be played before one can write a review. Following this guide will allow you to get that required time needed, so you can write your review, because face it, this software is awesome and you want to write about it.

The SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) way
First order of business is that you'll need to download SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) from Gib's website. http://gib.me/sam/

I also want to say that SAM is portable (no installation needed) and is completely safe, no one has ever been VAC banned from using it, but as a precaution. Exit any active VAC protected games if you are running any, better safe than sorry. DisplayFusion is NOT VAC protected so there is zero risk of getting banned here.

PRO TIP: Be sure to put on sunglasses before going to Gib's website.

Now run SAM (Steam will also need to be running) and a window like below will open.

Step 1. You'll need to enter the App ID for DisplayFusion.

PRO TIP: App ID's can be found for anything by looking at the end numbers in the Store Page URL. This is DisplayFusion's store page URL.

Step 2. Click on "Add Game".

Step 3. Click on the banner for DisplayFusion.

Step 4. You are done, if another window popped after clicking the banner then you are now idling time.

If all is right, check your Steam Profile and you should see that you are "Currently In-Game DisplayFusion".

When you are finished just close the windows to exit SAM.
An alternative way
There is another way to idle time that doesn't require SAM, but this way requires a little trial and error on your part to find a game that you own and have installed that can be used, some work and some don't.

First right click a game in your Steam library list and go to Properties > Local Files tab > Browse local files...

What you are looking for is a game that has both a steam_api.dll and steam_appid.txt file in the install directory of the game.

NOTE: If a game has a steam_api.dll in its directory, you can create a steam_appid.txt with the correct value, even if it didn't have the file originally.

Many games have these files, but some will just not work for this method because of Steam DRM, this is where the trial and error part comes in for you, you'll just have to try them out.

PRO TIP: Try indie games, they seem to work for the most part. Some games that are known to work are:

10,000,000
Defense Grid
Dustforce
Jamestown

I'm going to use the game 10,000,000 as my example.

Step 1. First open up steam_appid.txt with any notepad like program and change the AppID number to DisplayFusion's AppID number 227260. Save it and close it.

Step 2. Now run the game from the explorer window, NOT from within Steam. If the game does not use Stream DRM then it should launch normally.

If the game is running and to see if this method has worked, check your Steam Profile and you should see "Currently In-Game DisplayFusion".

After you're done just close the game, and revert the steam_appid.txt change.

Awesomenauts is a game with steam_appid.txt and it's free, and it's the game I used to be able to get a few hours of DisplayFusion to be able to write a review soon. I suggest using that method instead, as SAM is too risky.

Not only that, but Awesomenauts gives an error message upon starting with the wrong appid. Just keep that error message open and it will count hours for you. Absolutely no performance is taken due to the error preventing Awesomenauts from launching.

I have had Display Fusion for almost 10 years now and over time as its launched and installed, I have amassed 2.6 hours is "Play" time and thus I can now write a review for it. I have been using Display Fusion before they were on steam. One of the best pieces of software out there for users of Multi monitors

SAM is safe. I use it for stuff exactly like this, and multiple of my friends use it for Achievements they can't get.

SAM is not considered a cheat?
