Description
This mod has been completely overhauled! There have been massive changes to the quest logic, so existing users might experience bugs with the quest. I HIGHLY recommend you do the following:
  1. While in-game, save your game in a new slot.
  2. Exit the game and disable The Hatchery.
  3. Load the save you made in step one.
  4. Once more, save your game in a new slot.
  5. Exit the game and enable The Hatchery.
  6. Load the save you made in step four.
This should fix all problems. However, I have noticed a bug where a specific quest marker points to a house in Riverwood rather than the Hatchery. If you encounter this bug, please let me know. I couldn't figure out how to fix it in development and don't even know if it will persist for the release.

Welcome!
First of all, thank you for taking the time to look at my mod. This is the first serious Skyrim mod I've made, so I appreciate any feedback I can get.

So, what is it?
The Hatchery adds in a building called--you guessed it--the Hatchery. The Hatchery is located just outside of Riverwood, and it allows players to use the Imbuing Chamber without having to go all the way to Solstheim and go through White Ridge Barrow again. Simple, right?

The Hatchery itself also acts as a player home; you'll have access to a bed, chest, grindstone, workbench, anvil (because I couldn't fit a full forge inside), smelter (outside), tanning rack, alchemy lab, enchanting table, and, of course, the Imbuing Chamber.

Other Features
To accompany the Imbument Chamber, the Hatchery has a chest called the Imbument Chest, containing all the materials you need to craft all of the spiders--3x of each, for the most part.

Also available for your use is the Skittering Burrow, where an arachnid known as the Loquacious Spider dwells. If you're running short of Imbuing supplies, you're able to buy them directly from the spider. The spider is almost fully voice acted, but I recommend you enable subtitles regardless.

You can also visit the in-cave Skittering Breeding Grounds to kill Albino Spiders and stock up on your spider pods. The spiders respawn every five real-life minutes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If the Loquacious Spider won't speak to you, save and exit your game while still in its burrow and then re-load that save.

The Hatchery also has an in-game guidebook written by a powerful mage known as Ardimis Belhri who is responsible for, among other things, the Hatchery's Imbuing Chamber. His guidebook, titled simply "The Hatchery - Guide," outlines the house itself and the crafting recipes for all of the throwable spiders added in the Dragonborn expansion pack.

Just in case you're missing an eye or something, the Hatchery also has a map marker. The Skittering Burrow, however, does not have a map marker; you can either find it yourself or allow The Hatchery's main quest to guide you there. The quest can be started by reading the guidebook (or by talking to the Loquacious Spider if you find the Skittering Burrow without the book).

Updates

(12/31/14 @ 5:58 PM) First of all, Happy New Year's Eve. Looks like this mod got 14 subscribers and two favorites in a little less than tweleve hours! Not too bad for a first mod, if you ask me. Now that we have the obligatory pleasantries out of the way, I'm planning on adding a new feature to the Hatchery called the Breeding Grounds. In the Breeding Grounds will be a large group of Albino Spiders that respawn at a regular interval. These spiders are, of course, meant to be killed for their spider pods. You will be able to find the Breeding Grounds immediately outside of the Hatchery.

(1/1/15 @ 4:14 AM) More New Year's bullcrap? You betcha! Let me cut to the chase: The Hatchery has been updated with the aformentioned Breeding Grounds! Everything I promised is there, so check it out. The in-game guide book has been updated with info concerning the Breeding Grounds as well.

(1/1/15 @ 6:52 PM) Here is something I'm working on:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/r4sanyp9srl4ttv/2015-01-01_00021.jpg
(Would've directly embedded, but Steam apparently doesn't like that. Just put the link in your browser).
More details on release.

(1/2/15 @ 8:17 PM) That preview I posted yesterday was a teaser for today's update: the Mercantile Content Update. Mercantile adds in Fenraldr Bloodfang, who can be found at his home to the east of Loreius Farm (yes, there is a map marker). You are able to buy Imbuing supplies through Fenraldr just in case you're running short of something. Also, be aware that I've changed the spiders in the Breeding Grounds to respawn every five real-life minutes as opposed to the previous two minute respawn time.

(1/5/15 @ 9:53 PM) My wired Internet connection is down, and there's no telling when it'll be fixed. This means no updates until then. Hopefully, that will be soon.

(1/9/15 @ 8:54 PM) I'm just now seeing that the Hatchery has broken over 100 subscribers! I honestly didn't think It'd get this far, but it did! As soon as my wired Internet is back up, I'll release a special 100+ subscribers update.

(1/11/15 @ 6:07 PM) Wired Internet's back up, which means work on the Hatchery is resuming. 100+ subscribers special update coming soon...

(1/17/15 @ 2:13 AM) Here it is: the 100+ Subscribers Special Content Update! This update added three main features. Firstly, Fenraldr has been treated to a(n almost) full voiceover job by yours truly. Secondly, you can now summon Runica Bloodfang, a powerful undead warrior, to help you in your journeys. Finally, there is a friendly spider in the Breeding Grounds by the name of Arachne. There's still quite a bit more (I added in some backstory details mostly- just look around Fenraldr's house), so just play the update and have fun!

(4/28/15 @ 7:23 PM) Been a while since I've posted down here, but I just released a small Hatchery update that adds in some special dialogue for Fenraldr--namely, combat dialogue. Check it out.

(5/26/17 @ 12:38 AM) It's been forever since I've updated this mod. Most of my passion when it comes to modding has gone straight to Metal Shouts, but I couldn't stand to outright leave my very first mod in the dust without so much as bringing it up to (somewhere near) the standard of quality I apply to Metal Shouts. To that end, I removed Fenraldr and replaced him with the Loquacious Spider. Fenraldr had no place in the mod and made me cringe a little (not to mention, I didn't want anyone to think of his less-than-appealing depiction in The Hatchery when seeing my username). My voice acting was truly abysmal. Though it is true I voiced the Loquacious Spider in this most recent update, I can assure you it's not as bad as Fenraldr's voice acting was. Removing Fenraldr allowed me to write an entirely new backstory for the mod--short though that backstory may be. All of the details now focus on the Imbuing Chamber and the Loquacious Spider, both of which are interlinked by a common element. No extraneous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like Fenraldr's family. I'd like to think The Hatchery now has a personality of its own, though it is nowhere near as colorful or bombastic as Metal Shouts's. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the newest incarnation of The Hatchery.

sup bro, i have an idea, is it ok if you can make another mod, you create a building or house or something but it is a dwemer factory creating dwemer warriors like the dwemer spider, ballista, any ancient dwemer guardians? and it is like the same as your creation now. There could even be a story from it like, long time ago the dwemer decided to create guardians to defend themselves against raids and attacks even from the Daedric princes whom they scorned and laughed at for they do not believe them and their ways, when they have finally finished building a factory and build a few guardians to protect their home, it was too late of them to defend themselves and have gone extinct and ever since the dwemer mechanicals still have defended their home to the day of the final dragonborn and the return of the dragons, anyway bro, i dont know if it is a good idea, you can create if you like, still love your hatchery mod and i love it, i use it a lot lately and depended on it, brofist.

@engsterdrew

Honestly, I never understood why people are so scared of spiders. But thanks, I'm glad you like the mod.
