Witch Hunters (and others) of Qud by Aric

Witch Hunters (and others) is a creatures/quest mod, developed as part of the Nov 2025 Monsters Mod Jam.



Armed with flaming Psychic and Mundane swords, and wielding powerful hand cannons (two handed pistols), they subject themselves (or were subjected to) gamma moths, resulting in powerful mutations and debilitating defects. They brutally hunt the espers of Qud. There is additionally a legendary variant, the Witch Hunter General, who is the primary antagonist of a short quest.

They have unique conversations for mutants or truekin (though they may not be willing to chat).

The terrifying Xenomorph has appeared in Qud. Prowling the already perilous Moon Stair, these lightning fast, acid bleeding killing machines have been called the perfect lifeform. There's no quest around them, they're just dynamic encounters.

Lovecraftian. Psychic. Tentacled. All adjectives to describe the Mindflayer. Found rarely throughout the Moon Stair and Baroque Ruins, these hostile lifeforms haunt Baroque Ruins and the Moon Stair. There's also no quests for these, they're just dynamic enemies.


The Witch Hunter General has a camp, out in the Palladium Reef, where he waits to strike against an Esper who escaped him to the Freehold. Speak to Une, and they will point you in the right direction. Complete it for a unique reward, but don't underestimate the Witch Hunters, they are very dangerous.

Witch Hunters have a variety of special gear: hand cannons, unique two handled pistols; hats with terrifying Visage that provide those that wear it the menacing stare skill; and flaming mundane and psionic greatswords.

The Witch Hunter General also wields his own unique versions of these items.

Aside from bug fixes, I don't plan on any further work on this one right now.
