Амон — высокий молодой мужчина с чёрными взлохмаченными волосами, синевато-серыми глазами и изогнутыми длинными бровями. За счёт усердных тренировок и занятий Котаро обладает атлетичным и очень мускулистым телосложением. Как и большинство следователей, при исполнении Амон носил костюм с галстуком. Когда он собирался на расследование, то поверх стандартной формы надевал светлый плащ. Неизменным атрибутом Котаро является христианский крестик на цепи, который он практически никогда не снимает с шеи.
Амон — человек с большим чувством справедливости, преданный своему делу. Похоже, что его ненависть к гулям появилась в тот момент, когда Амон увидел истинную натуру своего приёмного отца, Донато Порпоры. Этот инцидент привёл Амона к мнению, что этот мир неправильный, а истребление гулей – первый шаг к его исправлению.

Amon is a tall young man with tousled black hair, bluish-gray eyes and arched long eyebrows. Due to his diligent training and activities, Kotaro has an athletic and very muscular physique. Like most of the investigators, Amon wore a suit and tie on duty. When he was going to investigate, he wore a light raincoat over his standard uniform. Kotaro's invariable attribute is a Christian cross on a chain, which he almost never removes from his neck.
Amon is a man with a great sense of justice, dedicated to his work. It seems that his hatred of ghouls appeared the moment Amon saw the true nature of his adoptive father, Donato Porpora. This incident led Amon to believe that this world is wrong, and the extermination of ghouls is the first step towards correcting it.

He feels responsible for the death of his partner, Kureo Mado.

After the fight with Kaneki, he showed interest and curiosity, wanting to understand him. However, their future meeting ended in a battle, as Kaneki was unable to remember their first meeting due to his insane state at that time.
