How to Main the Spy
By Skyzo and 1 collaborators
Now, when you open up this guide, you'll probably exepect that it is a very bad guide *cough*like other ones*cough*. But today, i'll show you how to let your nooby spy past behind you go (cue the obvious frozen jokes) and become somewhat professional at spy or how to main it. Being a spy can make you or break you, so here's how to prevent it from emotionally breaking you. Enjoy(and please leave a like for people like me who don't deserve it). I wish you all the best of luck when spying and trickstabbing and i hope you can see how much you can effect the game if you mastered this class, but never ever forget the joy of backstabbing if you want to enjoy this class to its fullest.

The Basics
First of all, you're gonna have to keep it simple for now because you don't know how to do trickstabs(those are for later in the guide) and will probably cause you many deaths. So if you wanna be a spy, you have to keep in mind the "lackeys" of the team, or the mostly immobile people on the enemy team because these people will be your main target(and get you these sweet kills and feel amazing). You also want to keep in mind not to mess with pyros that move to much, but i learned that the hard way. Also, make "engie nests" your primary target because engies move little to not at all, so free kills! You also want to train yourself to switch to the sapper fast to kill that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sentry and dispenser.
Target Choice and Mindgames
To be a relatively good spy, you obviously need to play mind games with your opponents. The first strategy you can use is feinting, which is faking moving backwards and then surprise them when you are actually in a staircase jumping above them and stabbing them( and get hyper *creepy smile*). Another strategy to substitute the first annoying strategy(like most pyros) is called "corner snapping", its pretty self-explanatory but needs time to master. The third cool trick you can use is being a "Medic Buddy" disguise(ik that was very cringy but please bare with me), which means that you get a medic to heal you while pretending to be a pyro(which is ironic considering you are trying to avoid them), a heavy(Vladmir Shootin'), or a demo(scottish cyclops).
L33T Tr3kstabbing
So after many hours of procrastination, i decided to show the majority of people who have just began spying how to do these "trickstabs" . Now i know that experience will be your best teacher, but if you try to apply these strategies, you'll atleast get a headstart. Also, if you were snooping around the other guides, you'll see that there are 3 traditional techniques: blind technique, stair technique, and corner stabs. Please do yourself a favor a don't do these(for the time being). You will have practice them at first and use an additional technique which i like to call "The Centipide" technique, which is pretty self- explinatory, you go behind in a corner and run up to a target and stab him(the big earner might save your life at these high-risk-high-reward situations), and do your self another favor and stab quickly, the last thing you wanna do is backstab a heavy and get his friends to shoot you. Another thing you DO NOT want are "engie nests", which are just engies with their sentries and dispensers, these people are top priority and require A LOT of practice to wipe out and require a dead ringer at exterme conditions to help you from the engineer's allies, just keep that in mind.
Worst Case Scenarios
As a spy, you will encounter a lot of bad situations and are very annoying if they keep happening which are:
-Being Trapped.
-Being Discovered.
-Being Overwhelmed with targets.
-Being Pyro'd. However, you can stop these kind of situations and if you can, spread awarness to stop these. Although preventing tight corners and doorways is a must, it can and does happen. You must take a risk and stab the one who trapped you and is a 50/50, you can sometimes scare the enemy off to leave you or he might whoop your ass and teabag you(Use a dead ringer if you don't like to take risks), as for being discovered you will jump and run and then cloak, this is a very common mistake so please don't cloak and run and cost you your precious cloak(even 1% cloak can make a difference). Third, if you are "overwhelmed" with targets ignore the medic and backstab his patients and stop his with your revolver, diamondback, or the ambassador. And lastly, if you are pyro'd you are officialy drop your mouse and consider yourself dead. That's what people would normally say when you get pyro'd. That's where a trickstab of your choice is used( the stair technique is favored in this situation though) , and don't forget to use your jumping and running and cloaking technique with a medkit. If you are wondering why i didn't propose a solution for being discovered, that is because there are many ways to counter this and only you can determine the best way to stop being discovered.
