Introduction
The Pomson 6000 is a primary weapon for the Engineer class.

It fires a projectile beam that saps enemy medics and spies of their ubercharge (10%) and cloak (20%) respectfully. This mechanic weakens the farther the beam travels, up to the point where it saps nothing at all if shot from a far distance. As it hits a medic or spy with ubercharge or cloak in their meter, it makes a distinct sound, almost like a high pitched 'powering down' sound. This sound is different to the firing sound therefore it is easy to notice.

This beam also shoots slightly underneath the crosshair (where you are aiming). It is then reasonable to account for this matter by aiming slightly higher than usual, but this will only be applicable if one is fighting an enemy on uneven ground, i.e. a hill, mound or other elevation difference.
Damage Information
The damage of the beam (which we will call units of damage (UoD), with accountancy for damage falloff as the beam travels, is as follows:

Point-blank: 72 UoD

Mid range (about the range of a sentry): 60 UoD

Far range (anything beyond mid range, spawn to first point of badwater basin): 32 UoD



A Kunai Spy (A spy using the Conniver's Kunai) has a health bar of 70, thus allowing you to one shot them at point blank, or to do 2 mid range shots. Each connecting shot will lessen the cloak meaning they wont get away very far.
Cons and Solutions
As the Pomson is a very misunderstood weapon, often being shunned and left to rot, ridiculed and mocked, it may seem very hard to find good and applicable pros about this weapon, so in this section we will discuss some issues and pointers.


Con 1. The Pomson's projectile beam gets blocked by teammates

This issue can be solved by simply not shooting around large groups of teammates, and if so, to shoot between teammates and use teammates as a meatshield, whilst squeezing every so often to the front to shoot.


Con 2. Projectile is too slow, often leading to missed shots

This is another one of the large problems with the Pomson people face, however, it can be solved. Treat the Pomson as a rocket launcher in terms of range, timing and predictability. You wont hit every shot, true, but it is possible to be efficient with this weapon.


Con. 3. The Pomson is not needed, what is it for ect.

Every weapon is needed in some way, personally I consider the Pomson a 'support weapon' as it benefits not just the engineer using it to cause damage to players but its ability to steal Uber and cloak helps out your team, regardless of the falloff.
Tips and Tricks
To get the most out of the Pomson, consider these following tips, alongside the solutions we looked at above.


.1. Treat the weapon like the Rocket Launcher.

Predict as best as possible where your enemy will go, do not take too long to consider where to shoot however. You may think you'll only catch oblivious enemies, but it is possible to fight effective enemies all the same.


2. Medics and Spies can be good targets.

You don't have to always go for the Medics and Spies, but to help your team it would be good to focus on these classes to slow down their plans. Spy checking is also effective due to the Pomson not requiring ammo, and as hitting a spy makes a distinct sound.

A spy using the Dead Ringer requires a full cloak meter to fake their death, if you take off a bit of that cloak they will not be able to escape.


3. Do not rely solely on the Pomson.

The Pomson is able to be used on its own, however, when fighting sentry guns or heavies it would be better to equip the Pistol as a secondary to balance the slow firing of the Pomson. Build a sentry if you can in the area you intend to fight or push before going all in with a Pomson.

Fire random shots towards oncoming enemies to cause them to try and avoid the beams, this will also allow you to see how they move and they will be easier to predict.

If you have good aim, use the Wrangler instead of the Pistol for more accuracy. As these items do not require ammo it gives you more time to focus fighting. The Gunslinger can also be used for extra health and in turn more time whilst fighting, and providing a mini sentry to assist alongside the Pomson.

As with most weapons, try out various items and see what fits you best.

Conclusion
The Pomson is certainly a weapon. Whether you agree or disagree with it's existence is up to you. This guide is not to push an agenda or to criticise opinions but to show a kinder side to this, perhaps misunderstood weapon.
