How to Desert Scourge (and not die)

Arena (you need one to not die)

You need an arena. It should have necessary things.
You expect me to list them?
Campfires, Bast statue, platforms (obviously), star in a bottle (for mages/summoners), and sunflowers (not needed but nice).
(this may be too small for some players.)

Armor/Health

I recommend that you use an ironskin potion and a swiftness one. Speed is crucial for fighting the boss. For health, you should have 200+ hp. And for armor, Tungsten will do(even in revengeance mode), (and)even for mages and summoners. For rangers, you should probably use fossil armor. If you are hesitant about going into the underground desert, kill some cnidrions. They drop sturdy fossils.

You also should have the magic carpet. You can get it by finding it in pyramid chests or crafting it with 10 silk, 2 Antlion mandibles, and 5 pearl shards (Obtained by defeating desert scourge)
If you don't have magic carpet, and haven't beaten the scourge, just look for pyramids.
If you can't find one, you can use alternatives such as cloud, blizzard, or sandstorm in a bottle. You can use rocket boots, or search the skies for fledgling wings.

Strategy

There are two main moves; both include bursting out of the ground.
The reason why you need an elevated arena is because if not, it will sneak up.
The minimap is very helpful for seeing when it is about to attack from the ground.
The most common move, which it does 2 times (and after it summons the annoying mini scourges, sometimes 3) is just plain bursting out of the ground. The magic carpet is very useful for this boss fight.

How to Trick it

Say that the scourge was coming from the bottom left. You would stay there (in the right) for a tiny bit then go as fast as you could to the left. If you don't have magic carpet, this is why having a long arena is crucial, and also having a lot of speed.
The other attack you don't really have to move. Its like the same but it bursts faster and shoots a bunch of... green... stuff?

If you don't have carpet just make long arena.

The Nuisances

The nuisances are extremely annoying. The key is to go over them. Even if you take damage from their tails, they won't do as much damage. They do not go into the ground as much, and the magic carpet will be crucial for defeating them. If you don't have it, then unless you figure it yourself, you're doomed. For if you do have it, this is what to do.
Say you were flying to the right. They are right behind you. Before they even get to you, you estimate when to go left. If you do it right, you should avoid taking damage. If not, I don't know what to tell you. Cloud, blizzard, or sandstorm in a bottle is useful for jumping over the nuisances, and rocket boots work as well.
