Uncensored Red Crosses

Description
No more sad gray crosses. Screw copyright and screw international conventions! I want health markers in my game to be R E D.

Note that this does modify ui_icon_equipment.dds atlas, which means that any mods that touch icons in any other way (adding new ones, changing existing ones) will be conflicting. You should be able to adjust the load order in menu to ignore icon changes of one of the mods.

thanks OP gonna subliminally message myself to commit war crimes against aid workers that are just there to help using this mod that way i can undermine their cause with copyright technicalities.
its the copyright technicalities that get aid workers shot, you see; its not the frequent contact with paramilitaries uninitiated to or unsympathetic to their cause because of lack of communications access and international political knowledge. after all, people have access to video game systems and downloads when they don't have access to the internet, much less pamphlets saying "we are not here to fucking kill you, we are literally doctors for anyone who needs us"

@Hera Well it literally became the universal symbol because of them

If we're being technical about it:
White cross on Green background: First Aid
White Cross on Red background: Swiss Flag
Green Cross on White background: Assorted health and environmental safety organizations
Red Cross on White background: International Red Cross aid organization

A red cross means neutral party/help everyone, They will save your life if asked, not just the opponents'. It started as an aid society in Switzerland in the 1860s, and the symbol is intentionally the inverse of that nation's flag. The symbol for first aid was developed much later, with multiple informal notations until an ISO standard in 2003.

Yeah, I know this is probably just screaming in a void, but it feel like I should at least try to help others learn.

How did this organization get the rights to the universal health pack symbol?

Complex issue but easily fixable in even combat video games and real life military which still use red cross on medic uniforms.

Remove Red Cross from uniforms use a black cross or the Rod of Asclepius. On medical supplies, crates, and so on in video games and real life use the red cross.

how this helps? Removing it from combatants ensures no issues of red cross people getting attacked by mistake. Putting it on supplies specifically ensures that people know that those supplies will help so that even a moron can attempt to help a wounds soldier. Crates of medical supplies that are air dropped will be known for what they are as well. Finally video game medical crates and healing stations can be made to look like they have been left behind, set up in advance , and so on.

@⚜︎Dmitry Light I agree with what you say, video games teach that if there is a Red Cross then there is a health, putting Red Cross in video games should be made as free advert for them, and these copyright and/or Interational conventions issues/nonsence about the Red Cross should be stopped by them, otherwise people would stop recognise Red Cross as a symbol of humanitarian aid in real life

Fuck the red cross

The mod is fine, but people are completely misinformed about the underlying issue. The Red Cross has specific restrictions that it follows to ensure that it isn't considered a 'combatant' and is never (ideally) targeted by either side. Having it in games with things like combat medics with SMGs and sidearms implies that the red cross also goes on armed combatants.

Given that part of their job involves going into warzones unarmed, and that a misunderstanding could easily result in the death of human beings, I don't mind sacrificing it in *video games.* Even if the chances of it leading to the death of another actual human being are slim, they are non-zero. That's still to high a chance for me to be upset about an icon in a video game having the wrong shape/color.
