Astral Vessel - Passive Skill Trees Customizable Character [BETA]

Description
Astral Vessel is a new character built from the Passive Skill Trees mod that you can customize. From appearance, to starting items, to powers gained from their unique skill tree.
Comes with lots of support for mod items and costumes as well.

Vessel begins as a faceless and mostly featureless character that you get to customize using its unique Passive Skill Tree.

Customizable appearance
Choose from a variety of hairstyles and faces from existing characters/items, change the character and hair colors, and pick a few starting accessories (costumes).
You can also customize the character's on-hit and on-death sound, picking from a variety of monster grunts, glass breaking sounds, and more, as well as altering its pitch.
To change Vessel's appearance, open their skill tree (V key to open skill tree, then Q key to switch to Vessel's tree), allocate the "Vessel-Shaping" node, and press Allocate on it again to open the customization menu.

Constellation System
Constellations are the source of Vessel's power, and a feature unique to their skill tree. These are divided into 8 different types, with powers of a different nature each.
  • Divine: angelic/holy/order.
  • Demonic: unholy/evil/chaotic.
  • Occult: ritualistic/necromancy.
  • Mercantile: shopping/wealth/fortune.
  • Elemental: fire/ice/poison/status effect.
  • Mundane: normal/everyday.
  • Mutagenic: biologic/mutations/disease.
  • Cosmic: space/zodiac.

Each constellation type has its own tree, accessible from Vessel's main tree. Each of these trees contains many constellations, which are clusters of related nodes that grant you a wide variety of different effects.
As you level up, you'll be able to spend your skill points into these constellations.
Constellations are divided into 3 tiers: Lesser, Greater and Empyrean. Lesser ones are generally found in the center of its type's tree, and upwards in the tree you'll find Greater and Empyrean.

Allocating nodes for a certain constellation grants you 'Affinity' for its respective type (e.g. "Divine affinity", "Demonic affinity", etc.).
Some affinity is required to allocate Greater and Empyrean constellations.

NOTE: Take care when respeccing constellation nodes, as this will reduce your affinity for that type!
This can cause items and higher tier constellations to become inactive as you can no longer afford them.

Starting Items
At the center of Vessel's main tree is the "Stellar Nexus" node. This lets you access the starting items menu, where you can choose what items to start with.
Each constellation type has its own pool of available starter items related to its sphere, such as angelic/holy items for Divine, or evil items for Demonic.

Items have an affinity requirement, which is generally based on their quality, though certain outliers can be cheaper or more expensive than others.
This means that to get items of a certain type, you'll have to invest skill points into that type's tree to gain affinity.
There's 4 slots for starting items, 2 of which are initially locked.

Additionally, starting items do *not* count towards transformations, so have this in mind if you select multiple items that originally contribute towards a transformation.

Unlocks
Many features and additional power are initially locked until you achieve certain completion marks. Initially:
  • Up to 2 lesser, 1 greater and 1 empyrean constellations can be allocated.
  • Active items cannot be chosen.
  • Starting trinket nodes in constellations cannot be allocated.
  • Up to 2 item choices of up to quality 2 are allowed.

In Vessel's main tree, there's an info node that allows you to review the unlock conditions and status when hovered. Make sure to check it to see what additional powers you may gain from unlocks.

Loadouts
The Loadouts system allows you to have multiple different builds to switch between. These save your customization, items and constellation allocations, and you can freely switch between them.
To do so, press Allocate on the "Loadouts" node in Vessel's main tree, and select the loadout you wish to switch to.

Character customization and items are applied once on run start. Changes to these will be visible after starting a new run.

Additional Interactions
  • Soul of the Vessel (soul stone): triggers the effect of a random Meridion from the Sidereal tree. Additionally generates 200 energy for your selected Meridion, if you have one.
  • Vessel Birthright effect: Non-progression item pedestals have a chance to cycle between its item and a random item from a constellation pool you have affinity in. Higher affinity grants that type a higher chance to be picked.

Mod Requirements
Requires the Passive Skill Trees mod.
This mod requires installing Repentogon. You may install it from here[repentogon.com].
NOTE: you need to install Repentogon following the instructions in the link for the mod to work properly, it's not just a workshop install!
