Introduction

Achievement Breakdown: (40)
Story: (7)
Island Completion: (13)
Miscellaneous: (20)

Sonic Frontiers is the first open-world Sonic game in the franchise and features exciting combat and a combination of 2D and 3D stages. The majority of the game is played in 3d but certain agility games and Cyberspaces are done in such a way that the camera only shows a 2d portion of the world. The achievements are rather easy to obtain and don't require any significant grinding. It will take you approximately 17 hours to get 100%.

There are no DLC, difficulty-related, or missable achievements. You can continue playing your save after beating the final boss. It'll place you in the moment right before initiating the boss fight.
Long Term

Achievements: 11
Miscellaneous: 11

NOTE:
There are no difficulty-related achievements. You can get all the achievements by playing the game on "Easy" difficulty (which can be adjusted in the settings).

I see reports online that the amount of Koco/Hearts you need to upgrade your skills will increase depending on your difficulty. I recommend playing on Easy for your playthrough.

The following achievements are not obtained on any specific island and instead are long-term goals for which you should keep an eye out during your journey.

Achievement #1:
Swatch of Destruction
Destroyed 100 breakable objects.

During your journey through the 5 islands, you'll come across wooden + metal boxes and various other destructible containers. I recommend destroying all containers you spot along your journey as they can drop various types of loot like skill shards, ally tokens, and more.

Achievement #2:
Ticket To Tranquility
Earned 100 Purple Coins.

Purple Coins are essentially fishing tokens. Each island (other than the 4th) will have a fishing spot located somewhere on the island and will cost varying amounts of currency to cast your rod in that fishing spot. Each island will have a progressively more expensive cost to cast your rod. Purple coins can be found randomly by exploring the world. Alternatively, they are most easily obtained during Starfall events where you play a slot machine-style minigame where you get a minimum of 1 Purple coin per play (you get more if you get 3 of the matching icons).

I do not recommend going out of your way to grab the Purple Coins scattered throughout the world as the Starfall events will be your primary way of getting these tokens. Be sure to grind out at least 600 Purple Coins by the end of your run via the random Starfall events (this is very easy to do).

Achievement #3:
Koco Leader
Gathered 200 Koco.

You will need to collect 200 of the tiny bipedal creatures you will often find around ancient "stone" buildings (like the portals). These creatures blend in very well with their surroundings and often come in very small clusters (a handful at each location). If you go for this achievement naturally by exploring the island, you will probably get this by the second island. But the most ideal way of getting Koco is by buying them for fishing tokens. There is a cap on the number of Koco you can buy at each fishing slot until the final island where you can buy infinite amounts.

Achievement #4:
Easy Prey
Defeat all enemy types.

There are 22 enemy types in the game. You need to kill at least one of every overworld enemy AND cyberspace enemy. This is very hard to miss as the other achievements force you to explore the islands which ensures you will encounter these monsters.

Here is an excellent guide that goes over every monster and its location in the world.
Monster Guide[psnprofiles.com]

Achievement #5:
Threats Identified
Defeated all guardian types.

There are a total of 18 guardian types you need to defeat across 4 islands. Once you have defeated one of each type of guardian, then this achievement will pop. I've listed every type of guardian found on each island and where they are located in the maps found in the respective island "Completion" sections below.

Achievement #6:
Combo Crackerjack
Performed Phantom Rush 50 times, outside of the training simulator.

Phantom Rush is the second skill you can unlock in the skill tree costing a total of 4 skill points (including the cost of the previous skill). Once unlocked, the game keeps track of your combo, and upon maxing out the bar, it turns purple and enables Phantom Rush. Once this skill is active, doing a regular attack will generate a large number of phantom Sonic's that also attack the enemy.

To obtain this achievement, you need to get your bar purple, attack the enemy to "use" the skill, and then let the bar zero out thereby removing the Phantom Rush ability. You need to do this 50 times.

Don't bother grinding this out until you beat the game. The easiest way of grinding this out is to attack the legs of the Asura mini-boss found on the first island. Attack the legs until the bar fills up, then use the Phantom Rush ability. Let it expire and repeat until the achievement pops.

Achievement #7:
Unrivaled Aptitude
Unlocked all Skills.

Purchase all skills in the skill tree. This achievement should come naturally during your playthrough as you'll be killing a lot of enemies. I recommend getting this as soon as possible (kill all monsters in your path) as it makes the rest of the game a bit easier when you get to use the more powerful abilities.

Achievement #8:
Hypersonic Hedgehog
Raised Speed Level to MAX.

Achievement #9:
Hearty Hedgehog
Raised Ring Level to MAX.

NOTE:
I see reports online that the amount of Koco's you need to upgrade your skills will increase depending on your difficulty. I recommend playing on Easy for your playthrough.
Max out the Speed and Ring levels. Speed and Ring levels are increased by returning Koco's to Elder Koco. As stated earlier in the section, it's not worth the time to explore the entire island and look for every Koco. Instead, rely on fishing and spend the fishing tokens to buy as many Koco's purchasableon each island. Of course if you happen to come across Koco's in the wild, then grab them, but don't go out of your way to find them all.

Achievement #10:
Herculean Hedgehog
Raised Power Level to MAX.

Achievement #11:
Hardened Hedgehog
Raised Defense Level to MAX.

NOTE:
I see reports online that the amount of Heart's you need to upgrade your skills will increase depending on your difficulty. I recommend playing on Easy for your playthrough.
Max out the Power and Defense levels. Both the Power and Defense levels can be increased by returning red and blue hearts to Hermit Koco. These hearts can spawn randomly from crates, enemies, and digging up treasure (among other methods). Grab as many as you can during your journey and return them to Hermit Koco as they can greatly help in your journey by speeding up fights and keeping you alive. Similar to the Koco grind, use the fishing spots on each island to buy as many hearts as you can (each island other than the final one has a cap on how many you can purchase). Ultimately, fishing will be the best method of gathering these hearts.
Gameplay Introduction

Achievements: 18
Story: 2
Miscellaneous: 16

Your first introduction to the game after the cinematic will be in Cyberspace. Cyberspaces are compact stages where you are always tasked with the same 4 objectives:
  • Reach the end
  • Complete the stage within "X" amount of time to get S Rank
  • Collect at least "X" rings during your run
  • Collect all red rings (these persist across all your runs so if you collected a red rin once, you don't need to do it again)
  • Complete all other goals
You do not need to complete all objectives in a single run.
I recommend doing them in 2 runs. The first focuses on reaching the end within the "S" rank time limit while the second run focuses on getting all the rings. Remember, you can always turn around and try to grab missed rings during your second run since the time doesn't matter.

Completing the first objective gets you one key while completing all of them gets you 4. These keys will be used later on to unlock Chaos Emeralds that are sealed within ancient monuments. Each monument will need a varying number of keys to be unlocked (some don't need any keys and are instead quest-locked).

Every island will have more keys than you need to unlock Chaos Emeralds. You don't need to play every Cyberspace stage. Simply unlocking the portal at which they're accessed will be enough to get the achievements.

Achievement #12:
Superior Ranking
Achieved Rank S time, for the first time in a Cyber Space area.

Achievement #13:
Perfect Run
Completed all Missions in one Cyber Space area.

Repeat the intro Cyberspace stage until you've gotten all objectives. As mentioned above, I recommend doing Cyberspace stages in two runs, the first focusing on speeding through the map to get the "S" rank time, and the other is to get al the rings (gold + red) at your own speed.

Getting "S" rank time will get you a "Superior Ranking" and getting all remaining objectives will get you a "Perfect Run".

If you're struggling with completing all the objectives, feel free to skip over this Cyberspace. There are easier ones found later in the game. Keep in mind that Cyberspace 1-2 (the second one on the island) is the most difficult stage in the game and isn't worth the time trying to 100%.

Upon escaping the Cyberspace, you're placed into Kronos island.
One of the very first things you will see is a "Challenge". Challenges are bite-sized puzzles scattered throughout the world. Upon completion, they unlock a bit of the map and also drop a random reward. You'll need to complete all Challenges on the island to fully unlock the map which will also grant you the ability to teleport to any unlocked Portal.

Achievement #14:
Speed Demon
Activated a Power Boost for the first time.

Grab all the rings on your journey until you max out your ring capacity (counter on top-left of the screen). You will need to get 200 rings to supercharge Sonic to start. Once Sonic is supercharged, hold down R2 on your controller to boost and unlock the "Speed Demon" achievement.

You can also mass-farm rings by using the Cyloop skill to generate small circles on the ground. This will spawn a random number of rings that magnetize to Sonic. This is the recommended way of getting rings and ensuring Sonic remains in his supercharged phase.

Rings are kinda like your health bar and are especially important during the final boss fights for each island as the higher the ring capacity will mean the longer you can continue to fight the boss.

Achievement #15:
Unknown Threat
Defeated a guardian for the first time.

Very early on upon loading into Kronos Island, the game will have you fight your first guardian (miniboss) called "Ninja". Beating Ninja will grant you this achievement and also make progress towards the "Threads Identified" achievement obtained near the end of the game.

Defeating a guardian will drop Portal Gears. These are used to unlock Portals and access different Cyberspace stages. Portal Gears can also be obtained in many other ways like destroying boxes, digging them up from treasure locations (via Cyloop), fishing, and defeating normal enemies.

You will need varying amounts of gears to unlock all the portals on the island. The counts are listed in the following "Completion" sections later on including their locations.

Achievement #16:
Journey Begins
Completed the Kronos Island tutorials.

Soon after defeating Ninja, you'll experience the next few tutorials scattered throughout the early parts of the map. Upon encountering the last one, this achievement will pop.

Achievement #17:
Combo Convert
Performed a Phantom Rush for the first time, outside of the training simulator.

Around this time, you should have defeated enough enemies to unlock the second skill in the skill tree (costing 3 skill points, 4 in total including the first skill). I unlocked this achievement by attacking the "Bubble" enemy (see "Monster Guide" in the previous section), but it's much easier to wait until you see the Asura guardian that appears right beside the third portal and attack its legs. The guardian is immune to any damage other than the weak points on its head so you can easily farm out the combo bar to activate Phantom Rush. This is the same strategy to grind out the "Combo Crackerjack" achievement that requires you to do this 50 times.

Close to the third portal, you'll find Amy trapped in a prison. Use Memory Tokens to help her break free. Memory Tokens change shape depending on the island you're in, but on the first island, they take the form of hearts. Memory Tokens are littered across the map so they will never be in short supply.

After releasing Amy from her prison, she will appear across the island in her "ghost" form. Speaking with Amy will require Memory Tokens which you can easily farm out from treasure chests scattered throughout the map or by doing the dozens of agility games. Speak with all Amy instances you come across on the island.
In addition, you must also speak with Sage (the AI girl), which also requires Memory Tokens. You'll need increasing amounts of tokens to speak with each instance of these characters. Once you've spoken to all of them, you no longer need to get more Memory Tokens.

Achievement #18:
Celestial Rain
Encountered a Starfall for the first time.

Starfalls happen randomly during your playthrough but the first one you encounter should be on Kronos. The game plays a cinematic every time a Starfall happens so it's impossible to miss. Upon encountering one for the first time, this achievement will pop.

When these events occur, do your best to grab as many fallen stars as you can. For each one you pick up, you'll have the ability to play a slot machine. Press DPad-Up on your gamepad to lock in your choice for each of the slot machine columns (3 in total) and if the row matches, then you get a jackpot. The reward is always varying amounts of Purple Coins. If the row doesn't match, then you get 1 Purple Coin. Be sure to take advantage of these Starfall events as best you can and farm up Purple Coins.
Kronos Island Completion

Achievements: 26
Story: 3
Island Completion: 3
Miscellaneous: 20

NOTE:
You don't need to get every Memory Token/Portal Gear/Koco etc, on the Island. I've listed the requirements of the Portals/Emeralds below so just aim for that and move on if you're only going for the achievements.

All maps are sourced from MapGenie[mapgenie.io].
Portals & Gems:
Achievement #19:
Kronos Island Memories
Repaired all Portals on Kronos Island.

There are a total of 7 portals to unlock on Kronos costing a total of 7 Portal Gears which can easily be obtained from defeating guardians or by obtaining them randomly from trash mobs or destructables. You don't need to enter the portals to get this achievement, simply unlocking them is enough.

There will always be 7 chaos emeralds to collect on each island. Some will cost keys (obtained from Cyberspace stages) and others will be quest locked. You will need 20 keys in total to grab all the purchasable emeralds on this island. Note that the game doesn't take away your keys once you've purchased an emerald, so you don't need to keep track of how many more keys you need to get.

Achievement #20:
Big Encounter
Completed the fishing tutorial.

The fishing portal is located on the NorthWest peninsula. Once you enter the portal, you'll find Big and he'll give you a tutorial on how to fish. Completing the tutorial will get you this achievement. Fishing the the most OP mechanic in the game allowing you to easily grind out Red/Blue hearts, Koco, and other collectibles. I recommend spending your fishing tokens and tickets on the Red/Blue Hearts first, and then the Koco (and then anything else you're missing).

Achievement #21:
Angler's Club
Landed all catches at one fishing spot.

Every cast you put into the pool will get you the next fish in the batch (for that pool). Occasionally, you'll get treasure chests that grant you golden tickets (essentially a free purchase for anything in the fishing shop). In addition, you may get teleport scrolls for Hermit and Elder Koco which are pretty handy. These are not required for the achievement.

I strongly encourage you to fish at every fishing location on each map until you max out the Red/Blue hearts + Koco's to help boost your stats. While doing this at the first location, you're likely to catch all the fish types in the pool and get this achievement. Just keep throwing your rod in until the achievement pops (takes about 32 casts).

Hermit & Elder Koco:
Achievement #22:
Elder Koco Encounter
Spoke with Elder Koco for the first time.

Achievement #23:

Achievement #27:
Ares Island Memories
Repaired all Portals on Ares Island.

There are a total of 7 portals to unlock on Ares, costing a total of 8 Portal Gears which can easily be obtained from defeating guardians or by obtaining them randomly from trash mobs or destructables. You don't need to enter the portals to get this achievement, simply unlocking them is enough.

There will always be 7 chaos emeralds to collect on each island. Some will cost keys (obtained from Cyberspace stages) and others will be quest locked. You will need 24 keys in total to grab all the purchasable emeralds on this island. Note that the game doesn't take away your keys once you've purchased an emerald, so you don't need to keep track of how many more keys you need to get.

The fishing location on this island is very tricky to get to (found on its own island on the far right side of the map). You'll need to go to the NorthEast corner of the map where the soil is dark brown and follow that along the edge of the map until you find an entrance to an underground structure. Going inside, you'll find a path to the fishing location and also the challenge located nearby.
