Getting Started
This is a reference guide for the Pal Labor Research Laboratory, a building introduced in the Feybreak update. This guide assumes you are familiar with terms like Work Suitability, and how to find it on a pal's status screen. If you are a brand new player and want to know what Work Suitability is, here is an external link to a wiki page on Work Suitability[palworld.wiki.gg].

The Pal Labor Research Laboratory itself becomes available for unlocking at Player Level twenty and costs two Technology Points to unlock. After that, you will need:
  • 10 Ingots
  • 10 Paldium Fragments
Once built in your base, you can interact with the building to see all of the labor subjects and topics in each subject. There are nine research subjects, each one corresponding to a Work Suitability a pal could have. They are, in order as seen in the research menu:
  • Handiwork
  • Kindling
  • Watering
  • Planting
  • Generating Electricity
  • Lumbering
  • Mining
  • Cooling
  • Medicine Production
Only a pal can research topics. They will also need a Work Suitability level equal to or greater than the research level. For example, Handiwork Speed +1 will need a pal with at least one level in Handiwork to do research. Research for a subject goes up to level four, where a pal with Handiwork Work Suitability level 4 would be needed, such as Anubis. Each topic also requires materials in either your inventory or in a chest on the base. All boosts gained from research stack.

One of the materials spent as Research Cost across all of the labor subjects is the Ancient Pal Manuscript. There are primarily two methods for acquiring Ancient Pal Manuscripts: expeditions and turning in Successful Bounty Tokens to Vigilante Bounty Officers found in settlements. Bounties are shown on the in-game map, just like the Alpha Pals. You can think of them as "Alpha Humans" in a way, as they are field bosses, and drop Successful Bounty Tokens on defeat and respawn daily.

Nearly all information is available in-game. I'm just making this guide in hopes it might help with planning, or if someone needs to look to see what materials they need to get without running back to the base with the lab to check.

Advice and Closing
This guide is primarily a reference sheet for the labor subjects and materials needed to pay for the topics' research costs. If you need to find a pal with a high enough Work Suitability, there is a database with a Tier List[palworld.gg] showing the best pals for the different labors types.

While resource collection strategies are beyond the reason this reference guide was made, I want to give some advice about collecting some of the items.
  • The three pal sanctuaries are great locations for picking Beautiful Flowers, but merely being in the zone will get the PIDF on your case. If you go at night, the guards will be asleep. If they don't wake up due to dawn breaking, or getting hit by a stray attack from a nocturnal pal, then you won't gain a wanted level.
  • If you have gold coins coming out of your ears, it might be faster to just buy the fire, electric, and ice organs for the research, due to the large number of them needed.

More bullet points might be added later.

I tried to make sure the text was a one-to-one copy of what is shown in-game, with a note for corrections. The entries are also ordered row by row, from left to right. Mostly because that's how I took the screenshots after trying to write everything down with a pencil. Only for me to realize that I was just making more work for myself since I would be writing it down then typing it in the Steam editor.
