Min-Maxing For Optimal "Fun"

"Fun" is having a process that maximizes output with minimal effort
Basic Gameplay loops, item uses, best gifts to give, and how to get unlocks faster

Getting started

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a relaxing game where you befriend the cute Sanrio characters who arrive with you and unlock the secrets of the island.

But you want don't want to "Relax". You want to WIN. And how do you win? By doing the MOST you can EVERY day until there are no more peaks to climb, depths to swim, friends to make, or fish to....fish.

Here's how you start

Day 1: Do the tutorial quests and talk to as many characters as you can. Not every character can be talked to immediately. Grab any and all objects on the ground. You'll run out of things to do quickly day 1.

Day 2+:
Login each day
Follow the Basic Gameplay Loop and prioritize high level gifts
Complete as many quest you can and use "reset" items to get even more quests

Focus on Quest to unlock new things

The Island Mystery and The Right Tools quests will unlock new locations and tools. "Locked" quest cannot be completed at that time and may require additional friendship levels, tools, etc.

Game play loops + Daily Limits

The standard loop of gameplay will be

1. Gather materials from the island via gathering and minigames
   
2. Use materials to complete quests or
   
3. Craft and cook the materials into gifts
   
4. Give gifts to level up your relationships
   
5. Complete quests to get new features, tools, locations, etc.

Daily Limits:

The Daily Reset Timer is 11 p.m. PST

Items will spawn once a day. They respawn at the Daily Reset Timer.
A maximum of 3 gifts per character can be given each day, resets at the Daily Reset Timer
3 mini-game vouchers can be found each day at the plaza

To Min-Max:

Gather as much as you can each day
Use all tickets you have to play minigames
Gift as much as you can

Congratulations, your "fun" is done for the day.

However,

You can power level by using Friendship Blossom's, Friendship Bouquet's, and Island Bouquet's, usable from your inventory. You can usually hold a maximum of 3 of each of the normal and 10 each of the deluxe, but they function the same. These are usually given as login rewards, so play daily to receive them.

After daily 3 gift maximum is reached, use this to reset a single characters gift limit, allowing 3 more gits to be given

Reset's ALL character's gift limits. This is should be used after all characters have been given the maximum 3 gifts on that given day.

Reset's ALL ITEM SPAWNS on that given day. Should be used after you have sucked the island dry, but want to gather more.

Use Bouquets AFTER you unlock all locations/ characters OR once you hit max stacks.
Use Blossoms to power level specific characters.

Frienship Blossoms can be used to power level specific characters friendships. I recommend the characters Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, and Badtzmaru (or Kerropi and Kuromi) for early level progression!

Gifting Basics + Best Gifts

Giving a gift to a character rewards you with resources like flour, strawberries, and more.

Gifting has 3 components:

1. Tags
   
2. Likes <3
   
3. Rarity

Every giftable item has at least one tag, displayed as an icon, and each character has 3 different tags they like. Match the tag to the like and you can give that character that item! Match multiple likes to receive more resources in return!

Rarer items [denoted by color] will level up your friendship faster.

Every character will have a "Favorite" gift that matches all three of their likes.

Giving a character 3 of their favorite items is the fastest way to level up their friendship

However....
Some gifts will be locked behind quest and upgrades

To Min-Max, we give everyone three gifts everyday and we will give the highest liked <3 item we can until we can make their favorite consistently.


This guide will only focus on Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, and Batz-Maru as their companion ability assist in Min-Maxing. However, you should give EVERYONE the best gift you can each day.

Travel Improvements/priorities:

This guide won't go over the full list of characters, but Kuromi and Keroppi should be prioritized for early map exploration tools.

Kuromi: After completing the quest "Powering the Gate" you can find Kuromi in the Spooky Swamp. Immediately gift her pumpkins (Found in swamp) to unlock the quest for fast travel to make travelling easier.

Keroppi: After completing the quest "Powering the Gate" you can find Keroppi in the Spooky Swamp. Immediately gift him lotus blossoms (Found on lillypads) to unlock flippers that allow you to travel across water.

Kuromi @ Friendship Level 6: Gift Kuromi Jack-O-Lanterns [Crafting Bench: Pumpkin x5)] At level 6 she will give you the quest to unlock the snorkel that will allow for under-water travel.

Always use the buddy system

Remember your ABC's
"Always Be Chums"

Friend's make everything better, but friends who give us bonuses make it even better-er.
After certain levels, you can ask your friends to follow you. Each gives unique bonuses!

Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, and Batz-Maru have companion abilities to ensure every day is not only a great day, but an efficient one as well. Make sure that you always have a chum following you as the benefits, big and small, are always worth having.

Now for a glorious day of Min-Maxing

Hello Kitty @ Friendship Level 2:

25% Chance of creating additional food when cooking
Start your day by saying "Hello" and bake, bake, bake away. Hello Kitty has a chance to give you +1 item per item cooked. This works on Ovens, Pizza Ovens, Coffee Machines, Dessert Machines, and Soda Machines. Plan your gifts and decide early if today is a double-gift day, then cross your fingers for free food.

Chococat @ Friendship Level 5:

30% Chance to craft an additional item
Once your cooking is done, head over to Chococat and craft for your quest, gifts, and anything else. Nya.

My Melody @ Friendship Level 4:

25% Chance to receive extra items when gifting
Time to drop the cat and pretend you're Santa. Team up with My Melody and dole out those high-tier gifts! This does NOT give bonus relationship status. My Melody's ability has the chance to get more items (+1 Strawberry, +1 Sugar Kelp, etc.) when gifting.

Quest time:

Leveling through gifting will more than likely unlock a quest. If it has a Grey Lock, you will not be able to complete it yet. Wait for the next day or use a Friendship Blossom/Boquet to get extra friendship levels.

Crow Time:

Team up with a pal (Pochaco, Hangyodon, etc.) and grab every shiny thing you can. Everything is useful, but keep an eye out for sticks, iron, and food specifically. If you are short on an item, use the Island Boquet to respawn all the items on the island.

Badtzmaru @ Friendship Level 9:

One Free Game Ticket per day
Everyone is happy and it's time to unwind. Your cool bro Badtz-maru says first one's on me. Get them apples. Catch them chickens. You deserve it.

Rest Time:

Sanrio's empire wasn't built in a day. You have done all you can. Time to put the controller down.

Misc. Things and Last Remarks

Once you have unlocked most of the island befriended more characters, you'll naturally find some things that make farming easier. Most are self-explanatory but I will speak on a few things that can Min your Max.

Collector Null: My Melody @ Friendship Level 3 unlocks the collector null. Once assigned, the null will INSTANTLY take all of that item, removing them from the island, but will give them out the next day. This is handy at the end of the day to see what you missed while gathering.

Fwish Fountain and Recycling Plant: Once unlocked, you can throw in fish and items respectively into these places to receive random dyes, fwish furniture, and Coral Keys + Coral Seeds. Higher rarity fish and items will yield better rewards. In general, try to donate 10 of the same item at a time.

Potions: Use them for a speedy material run and island challenges.

Late-Game Friendship: My Melody can be swapped for Hello Kitty during gifting once you have a surplus of materials. Hello Kitty @ Friendship Level 12 lets friendship grow faster.
