Being a Thief without getting caught
Von Marcos_DS
Many games allow you to get away with theft as long as you are not caught in the act. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 however, that won't be enough: If you are seen at or close to the area of a crime, you might still get a bounty even if nobody saw directly. This guide shows how to avoid getting caught

How to avoid getting caught
Many games allow you to get away with theft as long as you are not caught in the act. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 however, that won't be enough: If you are seen at or close to the area of a crime, you might still get a bounty even if nobody saw directly.

Here is how to avoid getting caught:

1) If you steal something, avoid being seen or heard in the area by anyone. Otherwise they will put 1+1 together after noticing the theft, even if they notice the crime much later.
2) To make sure you are not seen, its best to commit crimes in the dark of night (after midnight to avoid people coming home from the taverns).
3) Wear low visibility clothes (early on: be naked)
4) If someone saw a glimpse of you (watch out for the bunny icon top center of the screen), don't commit a crime in the vincinity
5) People will investigate if locked doors are suddenly wide open - so always close the doors behind you
6) Get the silent lockpicking perk at lvl 6 to avoid people waking up from the sound of lockpicking
7) Avoid choking people out: unless you get a perfect choke (down them on blue sword icon, before green shield pops), they will still remember you afterwards
8) Hide your stolen loot into your chest asap till they loose the stolen icon. Even if you were not seen or heard, guards might search you if things went missing.
9) Don't forget to let your dog wait outside town. People know Mutt is your dog, so if they see him they'll assume you are around (and guilty if something goes missing)

And that's it, have fun stealing everything!

Never got an arrest warrant except in the very beginning but then again i didn't have Mutt with me. Just tried taking him with me and it seems people will know its your dog, so added a point regarding Mutt being best left outside town for thievery.

most of that is written in the ingame manual and most of it doesn't reliably work.
I reached Semine in the night, stole a horse and sold it. Nobody saw or heard me (I didn't encounter a single NPC doing it). After selling I checked the map and Semine showed the "arrest warrant" symbol. Similar things occasionally (not always) happen when stealing.
Occasionally i get the arrest warrant just for picking the lock on a door while passing (free skill up).
Seems like if any NPC complained about and scared away your dog all your actions will be flagged as seen or noticed, regardless of whether anyone saw or heard Henry (even if they scared the dog away at lunch while you comitted a crime 12hrs later at midnight)...
