Rocket League Ranks Explained

Rocket League Ranks
Ranks are divided into tiers, and each rank (except for Supersonic Legend) has three divisions (I, II, III). Players progress through these divisions by winning matches and earning MMR.

Season Rewards
At the end of each season, players receive rewards based on the highest rank they achieved in any competitive playlist. You must earn a certain number of wins at that rank to qualify for the reward.

The ranks, from lowest to highest, are:
  1. Unranked (before placement matches)
  2. Bronze (I, II, III)
  3. Silver (I, II, III)
  4. Gold (I, II, III)
  5. Platinum (I, II, III)
  6. Diamond (I, II, III)
  7. Champion (I, II, III)
  8. Grand Champion (I, II, III)
  9. Supersonic Legend (top rank, no divisions)

MMR (Matchmaking Rating)
  • MMR is a hidden numerical value that determines your rank.
  • Winning games increases your MMR, while losing decreases it.
  • The amount of MMR gained or lost depends on the skill difference between teams.
  • Each playlist (e.g., 1v1, 2v2, 3v3) has its own separate MMR.

MMR Ranges 1v1
For 1v1 (Duel) in Rocket League, the MMR ranges are slightly different compared to 2v2 or 3v3 playlists. This is because 1v1 is generally considered more challenging, and players tend to have lower MMR in this mode compared to team-based playlists. Below is the up-to-date MMR range for 1v1 ranks as of recent seasons:

Key Notes
  1. Lower MMR in 1v1: Players typically have lower MMR in 1v1 compared to 2v2 or 3v3 because the mode is more mechanically demanding and less forgiving.

  2. Placement Matches: New players or those who haven't played 1v1 in a while will start with an MMR around 500-700 after placement matches.

  3. Supersonic Legend: As with other playlists, this rank is reserved for the top 0.1% of players, and the MMR threshold can vary depending on the season.

Tips for Ranking Up in 1v1
  1. Focus on Mechanics: Improve your dribbling, flicks, and shadow defense.

  2. Play Patiently: Avoid overcommitting and wait for your opponent to make mistakes.

  3. Practice Consistency: Work on hitting accurate shots and saves consistently.

  4. Review Replays: Analyze your gameplay to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.
