Introduction
The Automaton Tank[helldivers.wiki.gg] is the Main Target of this guide.

The Automaton Tank is a heavy armor unit that most player would more likely to first encounter on Hard (5) difficulty[helldivers.wiki.gg] on certain type of mission but will start appearing more common on selective type of mission from Extreme (6) difficulty and higher. There might be a low chance it show up on Medium (3) Difficulty and Challenging (4) Difficulty mission, but those are very RNG spawn.

Difficulty Appearance: Most likely to encounter on Hard (5) difficulty on certain type of mission; Extreme (6) difficulty and higher (Depend on Which Missions and difficulty Level)
Shredder Tank[helldivers.wiki.gg]
Difficulty Appearance: Most likely to encounter on Hard (5) difficulty on certain type of mission; Extreme (6) difficulty and higher (Depend on Which Missions and difficulty Level)
Barrager Tank[helldivers.wiki.gg]
Difficulty Appearance: Suicide Mission (7) difficulty and higher. (Depend on Mission and Certain Situation/Circumstances on the Mission)

How do You Eliminate a Automaton Tank?
  • Hit it's Vulnerable/Weak Spot with a correct selected weapon.
  • Drop or Call down Something directly on it
  • Hit it with an Orbital or Eagle attack
Where are the Vulnerable/Weak Spot on the Automaton Tank
  • The Vent behind the turret (Annihilator Tank & Shredder Tank only)
  • The unarmored part of the turret (Shredder Tank only)
  • The Turret (Barrager Tank only)
  • The Rear of the Tank

Note:
All Weapons Test are tested under a restricted self-made guideline in a control setting. If the weapon or stratagem do not met the guideline, they will not be listed here even if they can eliminate the target eventually. What will also not be listed are any "Defensive" stratagems as these stratagems require set-up to be uses to their full potential. Just think of this way; if the Support Weapon version can do it, then the Sentry Gun version can do better.
Unorthodox Ways
The player themselves must Drop Directly on to the Automaton Tank's Vulnerable/Weak Spot or Call Down another Player Directly on to the Automaton Tank's Vulnerable/Weak Spot to destroy it.

All weapons listed here may require more then one shot depending the weapon

***Anti-Tank Weapon Is a needed but not required when trying to eliminated the Automaton Tank.
**Heavy Armor Penetrating weapon can only damage and eliminated Automaton Tank when targeting certain spot.
*Medium Armor Penetrating & Special weapon can only damage and eliminated Automaton Tank when targeting certain spot.

  • The rear unarmored part of the turret (Shredder Tank only)
  • The Turret, Front and Back (Barrager Tank only)
*Most Weapons with Medium Armor Penetrating or Higher could damage and destroy the Automaton Tank attacking this area
How To Immobilized the Automaton Tank?
  • Destroy one of the the Automaton Tank's track with Medium Armor Penetrating or Higher weapons
  • Automaton Tank can still attack even when Immobilized

You can destroy a Barrager tank with a couple of shots from the Anti-Material Rifle at the turret's barraging front.
Also, a simpler and easier way to destroy all three tanks is to just get a Recoiless Rifle and shoot the turret, thus blowing it up.
