As an admirer of this beautiful game, I have prepared this work with great care and dedication for each and every player, veteran or new, I hope you enjoy every part of this journey that awaits you and let's see who will survive until dawn. The most complete guide of all characters of base game & DLCs.

INFORMATION

• 1 - There are currently 165 official playable characters. The base game has 48 characters of which 19 can be obtained by discovering secrets. The DLCs have a combined roster of 117 characters, 40 of them being secret ones.
  
• 2 - Some of these characters require an achievement to unlock for purchase.
  
• 3 - For access the Secrets menu, you need defeat the special enemie Sketamari in The Bone Zone and finish the stage.
  
• 4 - The cost of character increases in +10% per each character already purchased.
  
• 5 - In some cases, using codes will not activate the achievement in the game menu, requiring you to meet the character requirements.

SECRET CHARACTERS - PART I

Secret characters are "secret" in that their unlock conditions are only present in the secret menu, and said menu only gives somewhat ambiguous hints. The unlock methods include killing certain (hidden) enemies and finding Easter eggs in reference to other video game franchises.

BASE GAME

Exdash Exiviiq: Unlock this character by typing code |x-x1viiq .
Toastie: You will only be able to unlock this character after Exdash are unlocked, killing any of the following: The Stalker, The Drowner, or The Trickster |tramezzini.
Smith IV: You will only be able to unlock this character after Exdash and Toastie are unlocked
Type "spam" in the main menu - this will start a hidden 30-second timer. Go to the character selection and enter "spam", go to the stage selection and enter "spam", and enter a run and enter "humbug". When you leave the run, Smith IV will be playable.

Random: On any of the normal stages, opening the coffin for the second time will unlock Random |igottagettotheedgeofsoul.
Boon Marrabbio:
How to unlock:
Obtain the Yellow Sign.
Enter Mad Forest and remove the Skull O'Maniac and Pummarola stage items. This can be accomplished by picking them up (even if they are discarded after) or by obtaining them through leveling up and then maxing them.
When these conditions are met, Pies will start to appear and lead you to a specific part of the map (left on the grid of the Hollow Heart and above the Metaglio Left), where a shadowy enemy will appear; it will slowly move toward you even if you do not go there. Defeating it plays a jingle that signals you have unlocked the character.

Avatar Infernas:
After clearing Eudaimonia Machine by defeating the The Directer and obtaining Greatest Jubilee, enter Inlaid Library with inverse mode toggled on. Travel very far right past the Gold Ring, until you see The Trickster in front of a piano. You must kill the The Trickster while he is at the piano: If you stray too far away from the piano, The Trickster will relocate, and your attempt won't succeed. Once you've killed The Trickster (at the piano), interact with the piano (just ram into it); Doing so will pause the game and open up an interactive pop-up menu with clickable piano keys. If you have Peachone and Ebony Wings (Vandalier and Cosmo Pavone's birds do not count), the birds will show you which keys to press. To avoid evolving Peachone and Ebony Wings into Vandalier you may wish to Banish one of the bird weapons after acquiring it to prevent it from leveling up to level 8.
You will find yourself in a dark area with large amount of Undead Heads and Undead Eyes and nine coffins. Travel around the area and find Avatar in one of the coffins (his coffin location is randomized). After opening the coffin containing him, all other enemies will disappear and he will start attacking you. Defeat him to unlock him in the roster. Once Avatar is defeated, the White Hand will appear and end your run.

Minnah Mannarah:
How to unlock:
Obtain Yellow Sign.
Enter Dairy Plant and get the cheese, which is visible on the map as a Floor Chicken. It can also be attracted using Mad Groove (VIII).
Once collected, 7 werewolves will spawn. Defeating all of them plays a jingle that signals you have unlocked the character.

Leda:
To unlock Leda, follow these steps:
Start a run in Gallo Tower using a character with high movement speed (such as Red Death). Applying hyper mode to the stage is helpful for the added movement speed bonus.
Travel south until the screen is completely dark on the edges. You will know you are in the correct area when the music is replaced with ominous wind and the letters in the background change from runes to "IAMALIVEHERE".
Continue to travel south, zig-zagging to ensure that you see all areas of the floor. You will soon encounter Leda, who can be difficult to spot amongst everything else on screen with your limited vision. (She can also be hidden inside the wall.) Be careful not to pass her - she is too slow to chase you, and will not teleport to you if offscreen.
Defeat Leda to unlock them as a playable character. She has quite a bit of health, so it may take a while. Once you have defeated her, the screen will once again be illuminated, and a small jingle will play.

Cosmo Pavone:
To unlock Cosmo, the player must have already collected the Yellow Sign and unlocked Zi'Assunta Belpaese by opening her coffin. Then the player must enter Cappella Magna with a character with 0 eggs as part of the "pure heart" requirement. (Note: toggling eggs off does not count as having "0 eggs")
In Cappella Magna, the player must collect both Peachone and Ebony Wings (which must not be united into Vandalier). After obtaining the weapons, go north beyond the Crown and Tirajisú where a Nduja Fritta Tanto can be found near a balcony. Collecting the Nduja Fritta when all of the conditions above have been met spawns Cosmo on the balcony, and the gate blocking it is removed. Cosmo can then be approached, and a flash similar to Rosary appears.
Alternately, if The Ender has not yet been defeated, activating the Ender battle while standing near the balcony causes all the walls and gates to disappear, and you can walk over and collect Cosmo immediately after the battle.

Peppino:
On Il Molise, use Celestial Dusting to attack the plants, healing them instead. Upon restoring 100,000 health points to the plants, it plays a jingle that signals you have unlocked the character.
Using O'Sole will make this trivial, as it does not take damage from the plants.

Big Trouser:
In Moongolow, collect all 16 standard stage items and raise them all to max level. The character will be unlocked after the stage is left after fully upgrading all 16 items.
Because Tiragisú is lost once both of all the revives have been used, one attempting to unlock Trouser must leave the stage after all accessories have been leveled fully. Ending the run through death will result in not having a Tiragisú at the end.

SECRET CHARACTERS - PART II

Gains Boros:
Due North of spawn in The Bone Zone (beyond Silver Ring), there is a ring of flowers which heals the character by 8 every 0.5 seconds. By staying in the ring for 10 seconds, a jingle is played and the ring disappears. The healing from the ring will continue.

Gyorunton:
Gyorunton is unlocked after surviving 15 minutes in Boss Rash with only one weapon.
The easiest way to do this is to unlock the relic Mindbender, which allows you to limit how many weapons you can pick up. Alternatively, Game Killer (0) can be used to avoid leveling up entirely, so you can avoid taking more weapons. Running an invincible character like Ghost Lino[Emergency Meeting DLC] or Megalo Menya Moonspell[Legacy Of The Moonspell DLC] also lets you idle through the entire time.

Mask of the Red Death:
The player can unlock this character by killing The Reaper.

Bats Bats Bats:
Revisit Bat Country after collecting both Relics on the stage, where three pressure plates labeled "A", "B" and "C" exists. In the stage go to the ring of Gold Rings on the east tracked by arrows on the screen. The character will be unlocked after picking up all 9 Gold Rings.

Rose De Infernas:
As described by the developer: "Go to Astral Stair with any mode/character and step through doors 46 times. Doesn't have to be done in the same run, the counter keeps accumulating. Touch the coffin that appears after touching the 46th door."

Scorej-Oni:
Walk roughly 20 tilesets (map tiles) to the right on Tiny Bridge to encounter Scorej-Oni as an enemy. Defeat it unlocks it as a playable character. A sign that Scorej-Oni is nearby is the faint sound of thunder sporadically playing in the background, though this may be difficult to hear if there are many sound effects playing at once.

Gyoruntin:
Gyoruntin is unlocked by attempting to move left in the Carlo Cart stage. Even if this has no visible effect, Gyoruntin's coffin should eventually spawn, guarded by several Tri-Anchors. Defeating the Tri-Anchors then standing on the coffin will unlock Gyoruntin.

SPACE DETTE: unlocked by locating a special pillar with Pummarola outside of the normal playable area in Space 54, right from the beginning of the stage. The pillar can be found by moving south-east from the starting area. This can be done with characters that ignore walls (For example, Gyoruntin).|loveknowsnobounds.

SECRET CHARACTERS - PART III - ODE TO CASTLEVANIA

The secrets related to the following characters become available once you find the Pile of Secrets.
Young Maria Renard:
While playing as Maria Renard, equip the Gemini (I) Arcana, equip both Peachone and Ebony Wings, and evolve them into Vandalier.|yourfaultforbeingsomean.
Familiar:
As Julia Laforeze, obtain two Familiar Forges in a single run. It can be done on Ode to Castlevania by picking a Familiar Forge from Candybox, then picking the one as a stage item up.|friendlevania.
Innocent Devil:
As Julia Laforeze, obtain two Familiar Forges in a single run. It can be done on Ode to Castlevania by picking a Familiar Forge from Candybox, then picking the one as a stage item up.|forgemasterfriends.
Blue Crescent Moon Cornell:
While playing as Cornell, equip Dextro Custos, Sinestro Custos, and Centralis Custos and evolve them into the Trinum Custodem to transform him, and then kill 100,000 enemies.|azurecroissant.
Ferryman:
In the Ode to Castlevania stage, evolve the Sonic Dash into Rapidus Fio and walk onto the water near the castle's entrance.|hehhehheh.
Master Librarian:
Buy everything from the Master Librarian's shop at least once. In order to unlock and access his shop, the Wood Carving Score must be collected by defeating the Treant at the bottom left of the Ode to Castlevania stage next to the entrance to the castle's bottom path, all of which is accessible only after unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula. Obtaining the Wood Carving Score then allows him to appear on any stage permanently.|rockingchair.
Hammer:
Evolve six Ode to Castlevania weapons from the Coat of Arms in a single run.|whatwouldyouspenditon.
Wind:
While playing as Eric Lecarde, activate his critical-health ability, where he becomes engulfed in blue flames for 20 seconds, three times in a single run.|nospoilers.

After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Stella Lecarde and Loretta Lecarde will appear in Ode to Castlevania stage as a bosses enemies, locates in the top of the clock tower, between Abbadon and Metaglio Right. Defeating them with Sanctuary unlocks them and Stella & Loretta Lecarde as playable characters.

Brauner: Defeat 2,000 Bloody Paintings in the Ode to Castlevania stage using Blood Astronomia (XXI).|everyonesacritic.
Soleil Belmont: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Soleil Belmont will appear in Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, locates in the Art Gallery (the middle-left of the front building). Defeating him with Sanctuary unlocks him as playable character.|prodigalson.
Dario Bossi: Finish a run as any character in any stage with only fire weapons. Fire weapons include:

The weapons cannot be chosen through Candybox, Super Candybox II Turbo, Morning Star, Coat of Arms, Belnades' Spellbook, or the Ebony Diabologue, even if no other weapon is taken for the whole run. Note that Candybox dropping from a chest will also prevent unlocking him during the run. Also note that Arma Dio will also prevent the unlock, due to being coded as a weapon despite giving a passive.|aguniinagony.
Dmitrii Blinov: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Menace appears from his summoning circle as a boss enemy in the Ode to Castlevania stage, located in the right side of the Sewer (underneath the first section of the front building) inside Dracula's Castle. Then defeat it while playing as Celia Fortner.|menacinghaircut.
Celia Fortner: Equip both Luminatio and Umbra, and evolve them into Universitas.|withlight.
Graham Jones: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, defeat all of the bosses in the Ode to Castlevania stage across any number of runs. Required bosses include those that can appear on the map before Dracula is unlocked. Therefore, Legion, Beelzebub, and the bosses that are unlocked after obtaining the Pile of Secrets do not count towards unlocking him.|umbraleclipse.
Joachim Armster: After unlocking the Serpent Gate, Joachim Armster will appear in the Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, located in the right room of the Crystal Cave. Defeating him as Sara Trantoul unlocks him as a playable character.|cantholdthemall.
Walter Bernhard: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Walter Bernhard will appear in the Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, where his summoning circle is located on the bridge between the front building and the middle building. Then defeat him as Rinaldo Gandolfi.|itsallhisfault.
Carmilla: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Carmilla will appear in the Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, where her summoning circle is located directly east of the Capra Gate. Evolve the Hex into the Nightmare, and then defeat her with it.|weepingmask.
Count Olrox: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Count Olrox will appear in the Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, where his summoning circle is located in the left room of the Dinner Hall, in the far east building of the castle, and then defeat him with Dark Rift.|dontdisturbdinner.

SECRET CHARACTERS - PART IV - ODE TO CASTLEVANIA

Cave Troll: Defeat 3,000 Cave Trolls in the Ode to Castlevania stage.|chupacabra.
Fleaman: Defeat a certain number of Fleamen in the Ode to Castlevania stage.|finalboss.
Axe Armor: A certain number of Axe Armor enemies must be killed with the Stellar Blade, the evolution of the Discus. The Cathedral (the top part of the far east building) contains a room that only spawns Axe Armors. This spacy prayer room is located in the bottom-left area of the Cathedral with a pseudo-high / standing cross in the middle where a caped, praying statue at the base. There is also a Mirror of Truth pickup. |missaxalotl.
Frozenshade: A certain number of Frozen Shade enemies must be turned into jewels with the Jewel Gun and/or Gemma Torpor. The room where Joachim Armster is located on the right side of the Crystal Cave is a perfect place to do this, as only Frozen Shades will spawn there. |coldshoulder.
Succubus: After unlocking the Beast Gate in the Ode to Castlevania stage, the Succubus will appear as a boss enemy, where her summoning circle is located in the Gallery in a room containing Dominus Anger. Evolve the Hex into the Nightmare, and then defeat her with it. |thatsnotlisa.
Keremet: After unlocking Vlad Tepes Dracula, Keremet will appear in the Ode to Castlevania stage as a boss enemy, at the top floor of the Laboratory (the top part of the front building). Defeating it as either "Jonathan & Charlotte" or "Charlotte & Jonathan" will unlock the character.|cauldronking.
Alamaric Sniper: A certain number of Alamaric Sniper enemies must be killed with the Stellar Blade, the evolution of the Discus. The top of the Cathedral (the top part of the far east building), as well as the bridge next to the entrance to the Clock Tower, are the best places to do this.|gothangel.
Blackmore: After unlocking the Scorpion Gate in the Ode to Castlevania stage, Blackmore will appear as a boss enemy from his summoning circle, located in the hidden section of the Library (inside the top part of the middle building). The room where his summoning circle is located in also contains an Arma Dio. Then, defeat him while playing as Barlowe.|bizarreshadeadventure.
Malphas: Malphas will appear as a boss enemy in the Ode to Castlevania stage at the 25:00 minute mark, and then defeat him while playing as Quincy Morris.|karasuman.
Death: In the Ode to Castlevania stage, enter the boss fight against Death (which is only accessible while playing as Richter Belmont) with Clock Tower equipped, which is the union of Endo Gears, Peri Pendulum, Myo Lift, and Epi Head unlocked after unlocking the Serpent Gate.|sewardzead.
Galamoth: After unlocking the Beast Gate in the Ode to Castlevania stage, Galamoth will appear as a boss enemy from his summoning circle located in the center of the Labyrinth. Evolve Dominus Anger, Dominus Hatred, and Dominus Agony into Power of Sire, and then defeat him with it. |sizematters.

• Special Drop: Rock Riot weapon, essential for early progression.

(3) - Giant Bat

• Location: Cross the bridge to the east, follow the hallway until the rune appears.
  
• Reward: Unlocks the Stallion Gate, providing faster castle navigation.

(5) - Giant Medusa Head

• Location: After the Giant Bat, head east and climb the staircase to find the rune.
  
• Reward: Standard chest.

(6) - Slogra and Gaibon

• Location: After defeating the Giant Medusa Head, head west. These two bosses are activated simultaneously.
  
• Drops: Two separate runes, each with unique treasure.

• Lolo, Hiss, Meow, and Purr: Unlocked by first collecting a total of 30 cats summoned by Ameya Aisling, across any number of runs, and then taking Gatti Amari. Upon exiting the run where the player has both of these requirements met, Lolo, Hiss, Meow, and Purr will be available for purchase. If the player has 30 cats prior to the run where they take Gatti Amari, no cats need to be collected during the run.|maidofmagic.
  
• Kina: Unlocked by ending a run in Emerald Diorama (stage) after starting in The Junction, and never using any of the portals. This can be achieved quickly by leaving the stage, but dying will also unlock the character.|bugandafeature.
  
• Imakoo: unlocked by defeating Living Anguish, the boss in Providence (south world) as Diva No. 5's Virginia alternate skin while the player has Song of Mana or its evolution Mannajja. @Jck Adx sorry for not explaining better! chicken had always been a thing, the roasted chicken looking item that heals us from light sources. it's that we had to eat 500 of it to even open the coop, which is where we get the passive item used to evolve Gazebo's weapon to unlock him, who is needed to eat "as much food as possible" for the Darkanna III.

I just got the Darkanna myself from just afk farming with the Arcanna that pulls all light sources to you, but I'm still not sure exactly how much we had to actually eat for the Darkanna III.

Actually, wouldn't eating a lot of chicken be to unlock the new card III from Darkasso? I don't remember any other level before CooP that had chickens for me to have met the requirement.
