How to Reunite Aym and Baal With Forneus AND Keep Them in Your Cult
By MileHighGhoul
Looking to keep Aym and Baal in your cult AND finish out the story line (earn the rewards) for returning them to their mom? It's easier than you think.

Aym and Baal are in my opinion the best and cutest followers which is why it absolutely sucks that The Lamb needs to choose between keeping them in their cult or giving them back to Forneus. I personally like to finish all story lines in the games that I play but giving up Aym and Baal was non-negotiable.

Fair warning you will need to do some *minimally invasive* save editing. This wont affect your steam achievements and is very beginner friendly. I'll provide the one I used here but if you don't like clicking strange links you can google "Cult of the Lamb Save Editor" and find one that works for you!

I'll also provide a quick walkthrough on how to get Aym and Baal in the first place and the best (vanilla) way to maximize their traits as well as how to get the True Love Found achievement.

THIS GUIDE MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
I assume most people who are looking at this guide are either not bothered by the spoilers or are not on their first playthrough. I tried my best to keep it as objective as possible :)

I made this guide because when I was looking for how to do this myself literally nothing came up. I hope this helps !
How to get Aym and Baal
In order to recruit Aym and Baal you will need to give the dark or light necklace to a follower of your choice and then sacrifice them. Unlike many of the other story related unlocks this is not a permanent sacrifice and your follower can easily be resurrected. That being said choose your sacrificed follower wisely because both Aym and Baal will take on ALL of their traits.

This means there is a quick and easy way to get immortality, one of the best traits in the game, on two more followers!

The first step is to obtain both the dark and light necklaces by giving God Tears to Mystic Seller. The rewards gained from the Mystic Seller are random so you may not get either necklace right away.

There is no difference in recruiting one before the other so I personally would just use the necklaces as soon as you get them!
Choosing a Follower (The One Who Waits)
To pass down the immortality trait you need to give The One Who Waits the light/dark necklace and sacrifice him. Do this with each necklace to get both Aym and Baal.

It makes no difference if you use The One Who Waits for both brothers or if you sacrifice one brother for the next. As I said before you can easily resurrect them :)

You will probably see that they do not have the same traits in my playthrough. This is because I am a big cheaty cheat pants and I manually changed TOWW's traits before I gave him the light necklace. Oops !

Now that you have your super cute murder kittens you can make the choice to keep them or return them to Forneus.
True Love Found Achievement- Reunite Aym and Baal to Forneus

In your first playthrough you should definitely give them to Forneus for the achievement True Love Found.

If you have given away Aym and Baal within the last TEN saves you can check out my guide HERE to learn how to rollback your save so you are able to get them back. You can also use that guide to get the achievement and keep Aym and Baal in the same playthrough.

How do you get the achievement?

All you need to do is use the Demonic Summoning Circle to transform Aym and Baal into demons and go on a crusade.

While on your crusade keep an eye out for the shop cat room (yours will have "!" by it) and head there. Once you give Forneus her kittens you will not be able to get them back without exiting the game or rolling your save back. Follow the dialogue to give her Aym and Baal.

You have now unlocked the True Love Found achievement and unlocked two relics, the Blessed Tears of the Vengeful Father and the Damned Tears of the Merciful Mother.
Enjoy the cute dialogue and a job well done!
Keeping Aym and Baal AND Gaining the Rewards for Returning Them
This is the hard part of the guide- save editing!

You can find the save editor that I like to use HERE[cult-of-the-lamb-save-editor.vercel.app]

Make sure you back up your save files. I do this by going in file explorer and following this path ->
|This PC > OS (C:) > Users > YOURPROFILE > AppData > LocalLow > Massive Monster > Cult of the Lamb > saves| and then copying my save folder to my desktop. If you're like me and not that familiar with stuff like this you can check out a more in depth description on backing up saves in my guide on rolling back your save file HERE!

I have only ever had a problem with the editor if I try and edit a follower whose picture doesn't show up in the editor (pictured below). For some reason it causes them to change follower forms but doesn't seem to otherwise interrupt gameplay. Other than that I have safely and reliably used this throughout both of my 150+ day runs. This method does NOT affect achievements so you can continue your run without any issues!

All of the followers in this image are safe to touch EXCEPT FOR Dr. Sozo. This may be different for your save file. I have no idea what causes a follower to become uneditable but I do know that as long as you don't try to edit them on this website there are no issues.

Now Onto the Fun Part!
Start by uploading your save file into the save editor. The saves are slot_0, slot_1, and slot_2 don't ask me why because I don't know.

AGAIN PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR SAVE FILE!
You are going to CTRL+F and find a few different lines of code.

The following steps are going off of a save file I have where I gave them to Forneus without editing my save.

The first lines you are looking for are "HasReturnedBaal" and "HasReturnedAym" you are going to mark these both as true. There is a line called "HasReturnedBoth" leave this as false.

This makes it so if you bring Aym and Baal on a run again she wont try to take them.

Next look for a line called "ShowSpecialBaalAndAymRoom" and set it to true.

Small spoilers ahead:
This allows you to trigger the room where you see Aym and Baal after they have been reunited with Forneus.

This doesn't do anything for gameplay so if you have already seen this secret in another playthrough you can skip this step.

Finally, unlocking the relics!
Look for a line that says "PlayerFoundRelics" and copy + paste your most recent relic twice. The numbers on the left are how many relics you have found and should change automatically. The numbers on the right are the specific relic you found. Make sure you don't accidentally change or delete a relic you have previously unlocked.
You are going to change the first one to 31 and the second one to 30. Please note that the numbers in our save may not look the same because they show up in the order you unlock relics.

Download your edited save and replace it in your saves file (not the backup file).
Thanks for Checking Out My Guide :)
Congrats! Assuming your save file loads correctly and your followers are all in order you should still have Aym and Ball, the achievement True Love Found, and both of the relic unlocks. You can double check that the relics are there by going to Claunek or Chemach.

I found this method 100% on my own after scouring the internet and not finding anything helpful besides "you can't do that sorry" so it might not be the most efficient way.

This was my first ever guide and I had a lot of fun making it! Thanks for checking it out and I hope it helps you in your playthrough : )

Let me know if you have any (reasonable) questions and I'll try my best to help out or if you have anything you think I should add to this guide !
Also back up your save!!!!

Nice guide but most people will not reunite Aym and Baal with their mom because we are players and we evil.

hellu^^ i was able to get everything in order, but now that i've gone and added my altered save file into the game, it runs great, everything is in order, but the game just won't let me save? i can press the button, but it just brings up the little save icon in the bottom right (persists even after leaving the menu) and the button then says Saving... but never actually ends up doing it- i tried putting my vanilla, unaltered backup in as well, same issue, also also tried to validate files, unsure what else i could try- is there any ideas or suggestions? i wasn't finding anyone saying this issue anywhere online
