why did i make this guide? CUZ I HATE USING SMOKE SHELLS WITHOUT KNOWING WTF WAS LOADED IN THE FIRST PLACE! ffs
anyway... some of this info might be obvious, but here's a way to standardize setting up and calling in artillery that i hope you share with your fellow Helldivers;

Remember to collect and place the ammo beside the loader before booting up the terminal because the gun may attract nearby enemies.
As you may know there's always 5 rounds required to load into the artillery gun, but you should prioritise the explosive ones first (black, yellow, green),
then the rest (red, blue, grey).

What i like to do after finishing with the artillery's set up is typing this into the chat;
"arti _ _ _ _ _"
and each underscore is filled by a letter
V V V
m = mini-nuke (black or noir tip)
y = high yield explosive (yellow)
x = regular explosive (green)
r = napalm (red)
b = static field (blue)
s = smoke (grey)
For example -> "arti y x x r s" = highyield, explosive, explosive, napalm, smoke.

Part of the reason i chose these letters is because they all look different and is a lil easier to differentiate them from each other on a chatbox, especially when they're spaced out.

Another way you and your team could communicate what rounds are loaded in the artillery is saying in the chat something like;
"arti ♥♥♥♥" = all the rounds are either smoke or static.
"arti good" = all the rounds are either the black, yellow, or green ones.
"arti rando" = no time to organise rounds, just send it.

Obviously you and your team should be communicating in a way that is tailored to your needs, but I just wanted to make this guide to at least try to find a way to standardise arti-comms with randoms with no mic's.

PRO TIP:
If there's an arti-piece on the map, your pre-drop loadout menu will display it as a mission asset stratagem, and you can call in artillery on automaton strat jammers, during ion storms, and after the mission timer reaches zero. The arti will either look like a singular or double donut on your minimap. If you find it, ping it or mark it to let your mates know. I also like type in the chat something like; "arti marked" or "arti on my wp (waypoint)".
If this guide helps, pass it onto ur fellow divers :)

funny, ive been doing this for a long time. Also- not everyone remembers the shell color so i tend to shorten or abbreviate the munitions to:

NU (nuke)
HE (normal explosive)
HYE (Hi-yield)
SF (static field)
SMK (smoke)
and
INC (incendiary).

just helps people know whats loaded without having to sort through colors in their brain and only takes you a second longer to type out

edit to the pro tip - you can also call the artillery in after the time runs out while you wait for the extract to arrive, helpful as you no longer have strats

Avoid smoke unless you really have, static is just "okay.", the others are all good save for mini nuke and HYE which is S+ tier and S tier respectively.

The protip at the end alone makes this guide worthwhile. Thanks!

for randoms i prefer to say
nuke = mini nuke
hy = high-yield
exp = explosive
nplm = napalm
sf - static field
smk - smoke
a bit easier to understand by the "uninitiated" i think
