Christmas 2024 Event Guide: Winter's Jest

Happy holidays, and welcome back to another guide. In this guide, we'll be covering all you need to know about the Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia. Something sinister is about this season, and it's not poor sweater choices. Work towards a community goal by collecting hidden jack-in-the-boxes. Have a great time and a wonderful holiday <3

Introduction

Happy holidays, and welcome back to another guide! I hadn’t originally planned to create one for this year’s events, I’m getting old. During this event, much like the Halloween event, a selection of maps are covered in snow, graced by a special visitor—being a Richard (sorry, Richards).
As with the Halloween Event, this is a community-driven event that requires us to visit the participating maps and find hidden Jack-in-the-boxes. There will be three stages of rewards, and after each stage is completed, you’ll be able to interact with the Event Altar to claim the corresponding rewards.

This Holiday Event runs from December 12th to midnight on December 31st.



Following the theme of the last event, we have another community-oriented event. Four maps have been visted by Krampus (Tanglewood, Bleasdale, Maple Lodge and Point Hope) and hid several Jack-in-the-Boxes for us to find.

One notable difference this time is that higher difficulties apparently grant more event points. This means you’ll contribute more to the community pool with a typical run on Nightmare than with a perfect run on Intermediate. Later in this guide, I’ll cover the best strategies for grinding these community points

And don't worry, Krampa-Claus doesn't seem to have any unique hunt effects/buffs!

Krampa-Claus Is Coming To Town

Once you’ve loaded in, you can play as usual—find the ghost room, identify it, and so on. However, keep an eye out for wooden boxes adorned with a red star.

Each map will have between 1-6 Jack-in-the-boxes that spawn randomly at fixed locations. For example, one might occasionally appear in the Tanglewood living room, but it won’t always be there. Being thorough and checking all possible spots is key!

• Point Hope: 3 - 4 Jack-in-the-boxes
  
• 6 Tanglewood Drive: 1 - 3 Jack-in-the-boxes
  
• Maple Lodge Campsite: 4 - 6 Jack-in-the-boxes
  
• Bleasdale Farmhouse: 2 - 4 Jack-in-the-boxes

All you need to do is open the Jack-in-the-box (default: E) to get the points. Once you opened up all boxes, you can leave: but you got more to gain if you stick around:

You dont just get points for opening boxes. Doing extra tasks also gives you community points:

Identify Ghost Correctly	10 pts	Correctly identify the ghost for a huge boost in points.

As mentioned earlier, you earn more event points based on the difficulty level. For every X reward multiplier, you receive one additional point. For example, a difficulty with an X4.00 multiplier will grant you an extra 4 points, and so on.

This means you’ll contribute more to the community pool with a typical run on Nightmare than with a perfect run on Intermediate.

ㅤ6 Tanglewood Drive

There are 10 Jack-in-the-boxes to be found on Tanglewood.
A max of Three can spawn per investigation.

Boy's Bedroom	The first Jack-in-the-box can be found by the bedside and next to the computer on the drawers.
Nursery	The next Jack-in-the-box can spawn in the Nursery. Follow the hallway down and the last door on your left. Near the back of the room on the changing table can be another box.
Main Bedroom	On the bed.
Main Bedroom Closet	Before you leave, check the door on the right, another box can spawn here.
Living Room	One can spawn sitting on the couch.
Dining Room	In the middle of the dining room table. Hard to miss.
Kitchen	On the worktop (counter) is another.
Basement	As you enter, look left, between the fridge and the shelves, on some boxes is a krampus box.
Utility Room	As you enter, on the right on top of a dryer.
Garage	On the near-back right on a tool drawer can be the last box

ㅤBleasdale Farmhouse

There are 8 Jack-in-the-boxes to be found on Bleasdale. A max of three can spawn per investigation.

Rewards

The Holiday 2024 Event offers three types of rewards. First, there are the standard rewards, including ID cards and a trophy. Second, you can earn XP via the challenge of (personally) contributing a certain number of community points. Finally, there’s a 10% bonus to all money and XP earned on Krampus maps. While the bonus might seem small, it adds up over time, especially if you’re grinding or regularly playing on higher difficulties.

Main Rewards:

There are 3 stages in total, each with their own reward. If you're unsure to how close to a stage being complete, you can head over the event board. Once a stage reaches 100% completion, you can claim the reward by interacting with the Christmas Tree in the warehouse.

It is speculation, but you may be getting a bonus on all XP earned after the community reached Stage 3.

Well, that's all for now! Sorry it took so long—it turned out to be a huge pain dealing with the random spawns and trying to get all the photos. I was starting to consider not doing these guides anymore because they really take a toll and stress me out. Like I skipped the last event (halloween) because I found myself constantly fussing over the formatting, wording, and other stuff.

That said, depending on how this guide does, I was thinking about putting together a quick guide on getting some of the other Phasmophobia achievements. What do you think? Would it be worth doing?

Why are my points not working!!! Been stuck on 12/300 for a couple of days - this is really annoying when my friends I play with have nearly finished it - just then I had the perfect game (Tanglewood) and still no budging!!!
Where do I report Bugs like this??/
