Ultimate Guide to Playing Among Us (With Official Roles!)
De FlankoTanko
Welcome to Among Us
In Among Us, you’ll work with (or against) others in a battle of wits and deception. Whether you're a Crewmate, Impostor, or one of the new side roles, this guide will help you master the game and outsmart your opponents.

Game Basics
Crewmates
As a Crewmate, your main goals are:

Complete all tasks to fill the task bar and win the game.
Work with others to identify and eject the Impostors.
Impostors
As an Impostor, your goals are:

Eliminate Crewmates until the Impostors equal or outnumber the remaining crew.
Use sabotage to cause chaos, split up Crewmates, and secure easy kills.
Official Side Roles Overview
The Role & Cosmicube Update introduced official side roles to enhance gameplay. Each role has unique abilities that add complexity and fun. Here's a detailed look at each one:

Crewmate Side Roles
Scientist
Ability: Access vitals from anywhere on the map to check who is alive or dead.
Goal: Identify suspicious behavior by monitoring deaths in real-time and relay information to the team.
How It Works:
The vitals screen shows all players and their current status.
Your tablet has a battery that depletes over time. Recharge it by completing tasks.
Tips for Scientists:
Check vitals frequently, especially after sabotages or long periods of silence.
Use your ability strategically—don’t waste time staring at vitals constantly.
Be cautious about revealing your role too early, as Impostors may target you.
Engineer
Ability: Use vents like Impostors for quick movement around the map.
Goal: Complete tasks and gather evidence to help the crew win.
How It Works:
Engineers can vent anywhere, but they cannot stay in vents indefinitely.
Vent cooldown ensures you can’t abuse the ability.
Tips for Engineers:
Use vents to escape from Impostors or shadow them to catch them in the act.
Avoid venting in front of Crewmates—they might mistake you for an Impostor.
If accused of being an Impostor, explain your Engineer role carefully and try to prove your innocence.
Guardian Angel
Ability: Protect a living Crewmate from being killed temporarily.
Goal: Use your protective ability wisely to help the crew survive.
How It Works:
This role is assigned to the first Crewmate killed.
You can activate your shield to protect a Crewmate from a single Impostor kill.
Your shield has a cooldown, so timing is critical.
Tips for Guardian Angels:
Observe player behavior to identify likely Impostor targets.
Shield players who are gathering evidence or leading discussions.
Avoid wasting your shield too early; wait for situations where it can make a difference.
Impostor Side Roles
Shapeshifter
Ability: Morph into any other player to create confusion.
Goal: Use your deception to eliminate Crewmates and avoid being caught.
How It Works:
Use the shapeshift menu to select a player to mimic.
Transformation lasts for a limited time, and you’ll leave behind “shapeshift residue” (visible to nearby players).
Tips for Shapeshifters:
Use your ability in low-visibility areas or after sabotages to avoid being seen.
Frame others by transforming into them and committing a kill in front of witnesses.
Always have an alibi ready—pretend you were far from the crime scene.
General Role Strategies
Crewmate Role Strategy
Stick Together: Work in pairs or groups to make it harder for Impostors to strike.
Be Task-Oriented: Focus on completing tasks quickly to advance the task bar.
Communicate Clearly: Use discussions to share information about suspicious behavior or evidence.
Use Tools: Take advantage of cameras, admin maps, and vitals (if available) to gather insights.
Impostor Role Strategy
Act Like a Crewmate: Pretend to do tasks and blend in. Learn common task lengths to avoid looking suspicious.
Divide and Conquer: Use sabotage to separate groups, obscure vision, or force Crewmates to specific locations.
Plan Kills Carefully: Avoid making kills in high-traffic areas or near security features like cameras.
Control the Discussion: Steer conversations away from yourself and onto others. Be subtle with accusations.
Advanced Gameplay Tips
Understanding the Maps

Familiarize yourself with the layout of maps like The Skeld, Mira HQ, Polus, and The Airship.
Know task locations, vent paths, and camera zones for strategic movement and observation.
Mastering Tasks

Visual Tasks: Tasks like Medbay Scan, Weapons (Asteroids), and Shields provide visible confirmation. Use these to prove your innocence, if enabled.
Common Tasks: Everyone has the same common tasks (e.g., Swipe Card). Impostors pretending to do these tasks too early may expose themselves.
Sabotage Tactics for Impostors

Lights: Disable lights to reduce Crewmate vision, making it easier to isolate targets.
Oxygen/Reactors: Force Crewmates to split up and focus on fixing the crisis.
Doors: Trap Crewmates to isolate them or delay their movement.
Effective Communication

As a Crewmate, use evidence and logic to guide the discussion. Avoid emotional accusations.
As an Impostor, stay calm and deflect suspicion with plausible explanations.
Game Settings Overview
Adjust game settings to customize the experience:

Role Count: Choose the number of Scientists, Engineers, Guardian Angels, and Shapeshifters.
Task Settings: Balance short, common, and long tasks to create a fair challenge.
Visual Tasks: Decide whether tasks like Medbay Scan confirm Crewmate status.
Anonymous Votes: Enable for added mystery during discussions.
Final Thoughts
Adding side roles to Among Us changes the game in exciting ways. Whether you're trying to outsmart Impostors, protect Crewmates, or sow chaos, the key to success is strategy, communication, and adaptability.
