This is for the ORIGINAL VERSION of Metro 2033, and not for the REDUX version.

This is to help players help 100% the old version of Metro 2033. This game is unlisted on steam, so I am helping like, 5 people!

Intro & General Fixes
This is to help players to 100% the original Metro 2033 game. This guide will go by each achievement chapter by chapter like it's one playthrough. Usually I don't prefer this, but I did this, because I genuinely believe this is the most efficient way of doing these achievements.

Old games come with old jank. Metro 2033 is no exception, you need to compromise with graphics and play ability. The Metro 2033 Config Editor will help streamline the experience:

https://www.nexusmods.com/metro2033/mods/1

Boot up the config editor and you can run the game from steam on there.

Here are some rules for the graphics:
  • As far as I know, YOU CANT CHANGE THE VIEW MODEL
  • If changing the FOV with dx10 or dx11, the entire game will have artifacts (as show below) UNLESS you have the game on medium settings. Dx9 works perfectly fine with the fov on very high.

  • Motion blur CANNOT be turned off individually, unless you run the game at medium settings.
  • If you have an AMD gpu, turn off physx. The game hates AMD gpus.

I recommend running the game at dx9 with 90 fov at medium settings to prevent motion blur. You can run the game at the stock fov with high settings for graphics.

Sometimes you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and can't fit through holes (according to my wife's boyfriend, it's usually the opposite problem). Like this crate maze right here:

There's some fixes to it and it seems to vary from person to person, so I will list the fixes right here:
  • Look down, crouch, and wiggle your mouse to force yourself to fit in
  • Turning on V-Sync
  • Forcing the game to lag to fit yourself in (if the game is performing bad)
  • Turning on DX11
  • Going to your Nvidia control panel and switching your refresh rate to 50 or 60 hz
Apparently the only reason why I think this happens is that the game increases Artyom's size with the Frame Rate.

The game also has a mental breakdown when you don't have it at the base fov at the last level. Change it back to the base fov or you cannot beat the last level.
Hard-to-Miss
First blood
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

If you somehow miss this, HOW???

Nosalis hunter
Kill 30 nosalises.

You will naturally get this over the course of the achievement hunt.

If it's hostile, you kill it.
Become a true ranger.

Story Related

Achieve the bad ending of the game, on any difficulty. Hard to miss if you're playing blind for the first time and if you missed too much moral points.
Achievements that you need Guides to follow like the Bible
For these, I'd recommend you to have steam overlay with these guides and achievements in mind for like 90% of a single playthrough.

Enlightened
Find the truth.

You need the good ending to get the good ending you need to get 50 of the 91 possible Moral points. You can get or lose moral points for random actions in one playthrough of the game. Here is a guide for following the possible moral points:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3458863642
Sherlock
Found all gold ammo, hidden throughout the stations.

A very annoying but simple achievement. This can only be done in one playthrough of the game, so here is the guide for it:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=116007262
Explorer
There is no place in metro you did not visit

This is a stupid and buggy achievement. You have to loot (literally) everything, do (literally)
everything, a find (literally) everything. Moral points, Ranger stashes, gold ammo, EVERYTHING. Here is a walk through that helped some people:
http://web.archive.org/web/20111220083821/http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/935091-metro-2033/faqs/59427
I, luckily gotten this on my second playthrough on the level 'Library' picking up some stray shotgun ammo, so either the buggy nature of this game was in my favor, or you can do this across playthroughs. I think it's the first one because the second play through was progresion towards the good ending, and I have never achieved it before. So good luck!

Scrooge 1/3
Save 500 military-grade rounds.

Wheeler-Dealer 1/2
Exchange 500 Military-Grade 5.45 rounds at Exchange kiosks.

You don't have to follow these two achievements as a bible, but if you are trying to minimize as much play throughs, you can. I did these at Ranger Easy, so if you roughly follow this guide, it shouldn't be that hard. Just conserve bullets, and try to minimize your medkits, weapons, ammo, and your gasmasks. Following the Ranger and the Sherlock achievements will obviously help.
Weaponsmith Achievement
Some important things to say is that this has to be done in ONE PLAYTHROUGH, and Prologue kills DO NOT count, but weapons obtained from the prologue still count.

Turrets do not count towards this achievement, and weapon Variations (such as a Tikhar with a scope) count as the same gun.

Weapon list:

Knife:
Your knife

Throwing knifes:
More common than Grenades, and reusable. would be surprised if you had difficulty finding this.

Grenade:
Can be looted from most human enemies and be bought from most shops.

Sticky grenade:
A slightly less common item from the normal counterpart, but relatively easy to get.

Revolver:
Fairly common in the Metro, but you can get one from the red box on the wall on the level 'Hunter'

Bastard:
A Carbine/Machine pistol that found be fairly common with humans. You will get this one for free in the level 'Exhibition'

Duplet:
The most common shotgun and the second-most common gun in the game. You'll get one for free in the level 'Chase'

Automatic Shotgun (Uboyneg):
A common shotgun that can be found easily. Not as common as many others, but fairly common. You can find this one for free on the level 'Dry'. Remember; if you HOLD the reload key instead of TAPPING it, you will load 4 shells then chamber a round, letting you load all 6 shells.

Heavy Automatic Shotgun:
There's only 2 that spawn in the game as far as I know:
In the level in the 'Armory' and in the sparta base.

Kalash:
A common assault rifle, that can be found and purchased in some places including: the prologue level, purchasable in the Armory, and can be picked up from Red Line and Fourth Reich soldiers. You can find this one for free on the level 'Dry'

Kalash 2012:
Another common Assault rifle that can be found in later parts of the game. Specifically when heading to and in D6. Can also be bought at Polis if you desire.

VSV:
A sniper/DMR that can be found farily common from the Armory onwards.

Tikhar:
Only a handful spawn in the game, you can find one in the levels: 'Lost Tunnels', Dead City 1', 'Dead City 2', 'Frontline', 'Defense', and 'Black Station'
You can buy a scope variant from vendors in the levels: 'Market', 'Armory', and 'Hole Station'

Helsing:
Only a handful spawn in the game, you can find one in the levels: 'Dead City 2', 'Frontline', and 'Black Station'
You can buy a scope variant from vendors in the levels: 'Armory'

Hellbreath (Volt Driver):
You can find only 3 of these in the game in the levels: 'Lost Tunnels', 'Armory', and 'Sparta Base'
Don't forget to use the alt fire!

Prolouge
Quick Draw
On the level 'Hunter' kill the nosalises before they break through the ventilation grilles.

When you get your first revolver, just kill the mutants that are coming through the four vents (the vent on top doesn't count). I did this on ranger easy, and conserved ammo by letting my teammates kill the mutants and killed the mutants my teammates weren't focusing on.

Cowboy
Kill 30 enemies using revolvers.

Use any Revolver variant, preferably the revolver from the 'Hunter' level so you can also get the Quick Draw achievement too. Just hold on to the revolver until you kill enough enemies to get the achievement to pop.
Chapter 1
Metro dweller 1/3
A true metro citizen. You know everyone and have seen everything.

Starting from the level, 'Hunter', speak and listen to everyone, interact with everything, and keep doing this sometimes in repeat until you make it to the bar in the level 'Riga". This is a very buggy achievement, some players haven't gotten this achievement until it pops for talking to the guy chopping wood and some people have even gotten it in the level 'Exhibition'. It's literally just a matter of spamming things/people.

Generous 1/2
Help the poor, a coin for the kid, medicine for the sick. You help everyone you see.

In the level 'Exhibition', after going up some stairs, you'll see two adults with a teddy bear, and give them some Military ammo.

Chapter 2
Metro dweller 2/3
A true metro citizen. You know everyone and have seen everything.

Starting from the level, 'Hunter', speak and listen to everyone, interact with everything, and keep doing this sometimes in repeat until you make it to the bar in the level 'Riga". This is a very buggy achievement, some players haven't gotten this achievement until it pops for talking to the guy chopping wood in the ranger base and some people have even gotten it in the level 'Exhibition'. It's literally just a matter of spamming things/people.

For me It popped when I got some bullets at Riga when I picked up some bullets from a neighboring table after taking some shots.

Realist
A coin for a hungry kid? Get a job.

On the level 'Riga', following down a set of stairs you'll find a kid who will take you to your objective for A military bullet. Refuse to give the bullet. After the achievement pops, reload to the last checkpoint to finish up the Generous achievement.

Generous 2/2
Help the poor, a coin for the kid, medicine for the sick. You help everyone you see.

On the level 'Riga', following down a set of stairs you'll find a kid who will take you to your objective for A military bullet. Give him a round.
On the same level, under the bar there will be four beggars asking for military bullets, and give one bullet to one beggar.

Stunning 1/2
Get 25 kills with alternative fire of Volt Driver.

In the level 'Lost Tunnels' the HellBreath (or Volt Driver) can be found in the area where the first bandits are met near the campfire. Use the right click to use the alternative fire.

Scrooge 2/3
Save 500 military-grade rounds.

I would keep the Volt Driver until the level 'Armory' for the simplification of this achievement.
Soft Touch 1/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Lost Tunnels' level:
  • The derringer at the bandits' camp.
Ninja
Kill 10 enemies with throwing knives.

Stunning 2/2
Get 25 kills with alternative fire of Volt Driver.

Slice & Dice
Kill 20 enemies with the knife.

Sterling Effort
Kill 50 mutants with your knife

On the level 'Bridge', after you follow Bourbon and have to use the mask first time, you will go up the first set of stairs. Take the mask off and walk in front of the train until around here:

Then turn around and run towards your spawn at the end of the tracks. A mutant will climb up and jump to that area. The mutant is not hostile and will try to reach Bourbon. While it's trying to reach him, kill the mutant. Proceed to walk to Bourbon until you get between the train and the support beam, and run back towards the edge. The mutant will respawn like before. You might have 1-3 laps for him to respawn, but he always respawns. Use this method to grind these achievements. If the mutant runs on the train and tries to kill Bourbon, let it be. Bourbon will kill it and then you can restart the trick again. I did this on Ranger Easy, so I will give tips with this in mind.

For the Ninja achievement you only need one throwing knife. More is nice, but you only need one stab on the mutant to kill it. Make sure the mutant is on the platform though.

The Slice & Dice and Sterling Effort achievements are little more tricky but not the hardest thing in the world. It takes about 2-4 stabs to kill a mutant. THROWING KNIVES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THIS ACHIEVEMENT.

The Stunning achievement is a little trickier, but still fairly possible. It takes 2 stabs to kill a mutant, but you can time and keep a rythym going with it. As long as you keep it overcharged, land a stab as soon as he is on his legs, then a another quick stab before he even runs away, it should be easy. You can also try aim for the head for the insta-kill, but don't expect you hit all the time.

You can also do Cowboy and Air Bender here if you can.

You can get the Shocking achievement if possible, if not keep the Volt Driver until you unlock the achievement, only 3 spawn in the game.

Old school
Kill 30 enemies with the double-barreled shotgun.

You can go to Bourbon and wait for the Hansa train to pass, while you are waiting switch out your Volt driver for the Duplet. If you have enough ammo, go for this achievement or at least progress through it with the method above. The method above will still work, but the mutant will spawn less consistently. If you run out of ammo I recommend to try to kill with the duplet afterwards if and when you get more ammo.

I ended killing half of the mutant race right here lmao

Sticks like a bur 1/2
Kill 15 enemies using sticky grenade.

On the level 'Market' buy and hold onto the Sticky Grenades. Hold on to your normal grenades too.

Soft Touch 2/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Dead City 1' level:
  • The derringer at the hotel's ranger cache.
  • The explosive right before the level exit.

Ranger
Find all Ranger stashes in Dead City 1 and 2

Here is a guide showing all the Ranger Stashes:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=120289218&searchtext=ranger
Chapter 3
Exorcist
Complete levels 'Ghosts' and 'Anomaly' without dying.

Just follow, stay behind, and listen to Khans instructions, throughout these two levels and it'll be easy!

Ka-Boom!
Explode 10 enemies.

Sticks like a bur 2/2
Kill 15 enemies using sticky grenade.

Towards the end of the level 'Ghosts' there are a few groups of rats in in a series of rooms. Run ahead of Khan to cook and throw the grenades before he activates them. There are 5-6 rats per group, so reload the checkpoint to get the other achievement. Here's the picture of the door leading to the rooms on the left.

Heavy Metal
Kill 15 enemies using stationary machine gun.

To do this, you can boot the level 'Cursed' on easy, and when Khan tells you to blow up the tunnel, ignore him, stick close to him, and hop on the turret. You have about 50 bullets on the turret, but you only need about 15 kills. Hence why the difficulty needs to be easy. Each enemy needs 1 or 2 shots to die, and if out of ammo reload to the last checkpoint. Just aim at the most left and most close hallway (as shown on picture) and shoot whatever comes out. 3-5 mutants only come at a time, so with enough patience you can get this no problem.

Shocking
Get 50 kills with Volt Driver.

In the level, 'Cursed' you will be instructed by Kahn to blow up the tunnel. Pick up the bomb, follow the marker to blow up the upstairs part. Pick up another bomb and and place it on one of the wooden supports. Then for your last bomb, go to the left tunnel. Without blowing up the left tunnel, stay at the beginning of the tunnel for infinite mutants to kill. And Remember, you will lose the count if you die!

You can alternatively do the Air Gunner achievements here, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I also did the Old School achievement right here since there's a duplet right by the explosives with a fair bit of ammo.

Demolitionist
Blow up the tunnel and airlock at 'Cursed' station.

On the level 'Cursed', Kahn will tell you to blow up the tunnel. Pick up the explosives and head back to Kahn.

Look back at the other side of the room and walk forwards while looking to your right until you see a set of stairs. Head up the stairs while putting on your gas mask. You will also find some bodies with some loot if you care about that.

You should be able to place some explosives and blow up that room. You can then proceed to beat the level as normal.

Fugitive
Complete level 'Armory' without getting caught.

On the level 'Armory' you can't die nor run into any guards. Just follow the merchant, and when he gets cornered run up the stairs quickly. If you die, quit to the main menu then reload to the checkpoint from there for that easy exploit.
Chapter 3 PT.2
Air gunner 1/2
Kill 30 enemies using pneumatic weapons.

Air Bender 1/2
Kill 30 humans with only pneumatic weapons.

Achievement general information:
Both the Tikhar or the Helsing will work for these achievements. You have to get both 30 kills on one playthrough and can be earned at the same time. The kills do not need to be consecutive nor with the same weapon. THE HELLBREATH (OR VOLT DRIVER) WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS THESE ACHIEVEMENTS.

Achievement guide:
At the end of the level 'Armory' buy a lot of ball bearings. You can buy a Helsing with a scope in the Armory Station. You can also find both a normal Helsing and the Tikhar in the level 'Frontline' too. So just get A LOT of ball bearings if you haven't gotten the Volt Driver kills with the pneumatic weapon kills.

OR

Gunman
Kill 50 enemies with heavy automatic shotgun.

After escaping the reds, you can pick up the Heavy Automatic Shotgun and carry it to the level 'Frontline' for the easy kills. I wouldn't reccomend this unless you haven't done the Volt Driver kills.

OR

Shocking
Get 50 kills with Volt Driver.

Stunning
Get 25 kills with alternative fire of Volt Driver.

If you have been ignoring the guide so far, you can get the Volt Driver right by the Heavy Automatic Shotgun, if you haven't done the Shocking and Stunning achievements.

Scrooge 3/3
Save 500 military-grade rounds.

Wheeler-Dealer 2/2
Exchange 500 Military-Grade 5.45 rounds at Exchange kiosks.

On the level 'Armory', after the chase you will spawn in Kahn's friends room with a Volt Driver and a Heavy Automatic shot gun. If you have been following this guide you will need around 140ish military rounds and another Volt Driver in your inventory. Go to the trader, trade your Volt Driver in for a Duplet for 178 Military rounds. Trade the Duplet for the other Volt Driver in the room, then sell it AGAIN for another 178 Military rounds. If need be, sell the Heavy Automatic shotgun for another 75 MGR. You should have more than enough Military rounds to get the Scrooge achievement.

"HWAT IT DIDN'T PAWPPPP!?!?!??!"
Remember this game is as old as yo mama. So you might have to pick up an MGR outside of the map or you can just sell and buy assault rifle bullets until it pops.

To get Wheeler-Dealer it's a little different than how you think you'd get it. You don't buy things worth 500 MGR. You specifically exchange 500 MGR worth of BULLETS. So after you get 500 MGR, just hold left click on any bullet type and buy all of it until the achievement pops.

"♥♥♥♥ YOU, YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MY ECONOMY"
Just reload to last checkpoint and you get to have both the achievements and the Volt Driver/Heavy Auto lol.

Metro Trader
Make 10 deals in weapon shops.

If you have to reload to last checkpoint for this go ahead. Just keep buying a expensive gun, then trading it in for a cheaper gun over and over until it pops!
Chapter 4
THESE ACHIEVEMENTS INVALIDATES THE INVISIBLE MAN ACHIEVEMENT.
Air gunner 2/2
Kill 30 enemies using pneumatic weapons.

Air Bender 2/2
Kill 30 humans with only pneumatic weapons.

Achievement general information:
Both the Tikhar or the Helsing will work for these achievements. You have to get both 30 kills on one playthrough and can be earned at the same time. The kills do not need to be consecutive nor with the same weapon. THE HELLBREATH (OR VOLT DRIVER) WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS THESE ACHIEVEMENTS.

Achievement guide:
At the level 'Frontline', when you reach the frontlines, go forwards passing a cart until you see an old wrecked train. Go on the train and you will find a Tikhar. Keep killing enemies with it until both achievements pop.

This would also be a good level to do Shocking, Stunning, Cowboy, Old School, and Ninja now would be a good time to do so.

Hedge-hopper
On the level 'Frontline' kill all of the enemy Red Army and Fascist Soldiers.

Might as well do this while grinding kills. Just kill every living thing. Don't forget the two soldiers behind spawn, the wounded on the left tunnel when crossing the bridge, and the prisoners at the bottom of the map near the end of the level. You don't even have to complete the level, just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ murder everyone. This obviously invalidates the Invisible man and the Rescue Ranger achievements. So you have to repeat this mission again for those two.

Heavy Metal
Kill 15 enemies using stationary machine gun.

There are Machine guns everywhere on this level, use them to progress this achievement if need be, and use the next level 'Trolley Combat' to finish up this achievement.

Soft Touch 3/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Frontline' level:
  • The explosive under the bridge, Nazi side.
  • Explosives in the poisoned water. Nazi side.
  • Explosives in the poisoned water. Nazi side.
  • Explosives in the poisoned water. Nazi side.

Invisible man
Complete 'Frontline' level without killing anyone.

This is tricky, but very possible. Just avoid everyone, do the level stealthy, go underneath the bridge to ground level and above the last room of enemies, and unless you haven't gotten Rescue Ranger ignore the Reds at the last section.

Rescue Ranger
Save a group of 'Reds' from Fascist captivity.

At the end of front line you can free reds by killing all the Nazis in the room. When popped you can reload to checkpoint to keep the achievement, Invisible man

Tank Buster
Destroy fascists' Panzer.

On the level 'Trolley Combat', A Nazi tank will show up and drive parallel to yours. When instructed to shoot the support beams, shoot it. The bridge will then take the tank down and the achievement will pop.

Soft Touch 4/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Depot' level:
  • Explosives around the traincar before the exit.
  • Explosives around the traincar before the exit.
  • Explosives around the traincar before the exit.
  • Explosives around the traincar before the exit.

Raider
On the level 'Depot' silently kill the first guard and break into the Fascist station unnoticed.

At the beginning of the level 'Depot', kill the first human you see before he alerts the station (preferably from a distance before he even notices you). Reload checkpoint and repeat until the achievement pops.

DJ Artyom 1/2
On the level 'Outpost' reach the radio tower and broadcast the commander's message.

On the level 'Defense', after fighting through the waves of mutants you'll have to talk to the dying commander. He will give you a tape, that you need to pick up. Then playthrough (Yes you have to play though in one session) the levels 'Child' and a good chunk of 'Outpost'

Soft Touch 5/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Defense' level:
  • Explosive in the traincar past the entrance

Fire in the hole
Kill 20 lurkers.

On both levels 'Defense' and 'Child' there will be a lot of mole rat mutants. Kill 20 of them. As long as you're not intentionally skipping them, it shouldn't be hard at all.

And uhhh, don't accidentally fall into their holes. It's an insta-death
Chapter 4 PT.2
Inquisitor
Kill 2 demons.

DJ Artyom 2/2
On the level 'Outpost' reach the radio tower and broadcast the commander's message.

On the level 'Outpost' skip or kill past the first area of Nazis. Climb up to the top and start walking to this building:

You want to go to the area with the excavator hitting on the building:

Climb up the excavator and climb on the ladder:

After going on top there are two demons, I personally killed them with sticky grenades, but you can kill them any way possible for the achievement: Inquisitor

After you're done with the demons, just pop the tape in the radio for the achievement: DJ Artyom

Sniper
Make 25 headshots.

On the level 'Outpost' I did this buy switching the game to easy, and used the scoped silenced VSV and the scoped Helsing, and started getting headshots. You don't need the loadout I had, but the achievement is easier with a scoped weapon.

Soft Touch 6/6
Disarm 10 wire traps.

There are only 15 traps throughout the game, but you only need to disable 10.
Traps in the 'Outpost' level:
  • Explosives on the Nazi Outpost's top floor.
  • Explosives on the Nazi Outpost's top floor.
  • Explosives on the Nazi Outpost's top floor.

Merciful
Complete the level 'Black Station' without killing any Fascist Soldiers.

Avoid the generator morality points, and try to shoot as much lights as you can. Will take you a few trys, but it's really possible.
Chapter 5
Quick-witted
Break the support and activate the chandelier in less than 20 seconds.

On the level 'Library' you will be trapped in a room waiting for your teammates to get you out.

As soon as they open the doors for you, go left walk all the way to the door, look right, shoot through the door.

Walk up the pathway and shoot the highlighted chandelier. If done in under 20 seconds the achievement pops, if not reload to checkpoint and repeat.

Heavy Reader
Kill a librarian.

Librarians are this big ape-like mutants that can take a fair bit of shots. You know when you'll see one because they kinda look like you. Librarians only appear in the levels; "Archives" and "Depository". This can be missed because the game encourages to run or sneak from them. But despite their size and thoughness against normal bullets, I found using hellsings, Volt Drivers, and the Heavy Automatic shotgun does wonders if you keep aiming for the head!

Gunman
Kill 50 enemies with heavy automatic shotgun.

At the level 'Driving To Sparta' pick up the heavy automatic shotgun from Vladimir. If using it heavily, you'll no problem getting 50 kills with it onwards.

Metro dweller 3/3
A true metro citizen. You know everyone and have seen everything.

Some people have seen this achievement pop at the level 'Driving To Sparta'. More specifically the dialog from the guy chopping wood.
Chapter 6
Pyro
Kill 5 enemies with a flamethrower.

On the level 'Dark Star' at the start of the level you will be on a train defending your companions. soon mutants will get closer and you will be able to use the flame turret to get this achievement. There is only one turret on the train, so this achievement would be really hard to miss.

Pathoanatomist
Kill 5 amoebas

Amoebas (or what I call my "Aura bubbles") can only be found in the levels 'D6' and 'Biomass'. This is a really easy and hard to miss achievement, and you will end up killing like 30 of them with Miller near the end of the level.
Difficulty Related Achievements
Last Man Standing
Complete the game in Ranger Mode Hardcore.

Survivor
Complete the game in Ranger Mode Easy.

Ranger Mode Easy isn't that bad, the hardest thing I had to desperately find gas masks at times. And mostly because I was trying to get the other achievements on this game. Ranger Mode Hardcore, doesn't sound fun though. But with an exploit, You honestly can get both in one playthrough with an exploit by doing these steps:
  1. Beat the game getting the good ending on Ranger Mode Easy
  2. When you get back to the title screen, click on continue and switch the games settings to Ranger Mode Hard
  3. Then Exit to main menu, then exit to desktop
  4. Boot up Metro 2033 and continue
  5. Beat the game and get the bad ending
  6. The achievement should pop
That's how I did it and how it works for me. You might have to mess around with the game a bit more, but you get the idea of how you can mess with the game.
Closing Remarks
For the random 5 people who I helped, thank you for reading this guide. I hope I made the guide useful for you guys! If there's any advice to improve this guide LET ME KNOW!

The worlds most backwards part of this guide: The Q&A

Q: CATH-HER-REN....
A: Wh-who's that? hahahaha

Q: Why did you make a guide for a 15 year old game that's unlisted on steam?
A: Because I got confused with the REDUX mechanics at times and decided to make a clear line between the two games achievements completion.

Q: Will you make other guides for the Metro games?
A: No, there's perfectly good guides for both the re-releases and the classics.

Q: How can I repay you for this guide?
A : Three things.
  • Spread this guide around to others who need it.
  • Help me update, upgrade, and refine this guide in the comments.
  • Steam points :P

Yeah it's not common knowledge. If I remember right it's one of the mechanics the game never teaches you about and the Metro wiki doesn't mention it at all. I only discovered it by accident.
Menthol Reward  [autor] 24 kwietnia o 4:26
People didn't know this???
AncientRaig 23 kwietnia o 18:26
Something you might want to add to this guide, because I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned by any other guides for the original 2033 and I want to share it, is that there's a "secret" reloading method for the Uboinik. When the gun is empty, if you HOLD the reload key instead of TAPPING it, you will load 4 shells then chamber a round, letting you load all 6 shells.
ExecutorGCW 22 kwietnia o 10:48
Oh, I didn't even realise that bug existed, lol. I must have done five playthroughs and the only bugs I can recall are the physics one due to higher FPS and Bourbon not progressing in Dead City.

I also found out after the fact that to get the Sherlock achievement, you have to play up to the end of Chapter 3 'Armoury' on one session. If you quit the game or reload a checkpoint, it blocks you from getting it. Anyway, I've now got 100% thanks to your guide. Many thanks again.

No problem! I am glad I can help!

For the chapter 2 'bridge' level, two duplets, I didn't see to add them into the guide because my game was glitching out and any dropped objects/dead bodies just kept falling through the floor. And I didn't want to have anyone lose something important for something really simple.

Hey man, this is a great guide! I seriously appreciate your moral points guide and the link to the Sherlock guide. Thanks.

I've been using your exploit on Chapter 2's 'Bridge' level to get a few of these achievements that I missed before. I am likewise playing on Ranger Easy and you can get the 'Old School' achievement before moving on from this area. There are a pair of Duplets inside the train at the far-end of the carriage towards Bourbon. Assuming you have enough ammo, you can pick one up and go to town. The nosalis should keep respawning as usual.
