Beholder Nextbot

Know my gaze. You don't see me, but I see you.
Beholder is a nextbot that must be played with in darkness. There is a guide below on how to make your map dark for the perfect experience with him.
He is located under the "Spoon Nextbots" category in the NPC menu.
He will not conflict with any nextbots that currently exist publicly.
He does not support multiplayer.

If you want to go in blind and want to find out what the nextbot does for yourself, I would highly suggest you do not read anything below. Except for the guide. You should definitely read that.

This nextbot can get loud. I cannot be held liable if you go deaf or damage your hearing. Probably.

This nextbot does not make your map dark! You must use the guide provided below to darken your map to use him.

GUIDE

In order to use Beholder, you want to have a nice, dark environment first. Here is a short step-by-step on how to use the Light/Environment Editor to make your map look like its in the abyss.

Step 1

Go to the entities tab in your spawnmenu. Locate the "Editors" category. The Light/Environment Editor should be there along with the Fog, Sky and Sun Editors, and any others you may have downloaded.

Step 2

Spawn in the editor. A small black cube should be in the world now. Now hold down the C key (or whatever key is bound to the context menu) and hover your cursor over the cube. It should highlight. Right click it.

Step 3

When you right click the cube, it should open a dropdown. Click on where it says "Edit Properties".

Step 4

A small window should open, and at the top there should be two sliders, one for ambient light and one for sunlight. Slide both of those down to 1 (the minimum), and your map should now be dark. You're now officially ready to spawn in Beholder!

BEHAVIORS

Beholder acts similar to Terminus and Reminos. He's even learned some things from his buddy, Nightmare Terminus.

Pre-Search Hiding

The nextbot will hide in the darkness, waiting for the player to stumble across it. You might only see eyes or teeth, or maybe both, but rest assured, you want to be nowhere near it regardless.

Searching

Once it finishes the pre-search hiding, the nextbot will begin to search for the player. Sometimes, it'll be sneaky, but sometimes, it'll bore its eyes into you. Once the nextbot has caught sight of the player, it will initiate one of the behaviors below.

Staring

The nextbot will stop to stare at the player. You will know it is in this state when its sprite has eyes. You do not want to look at it in this state, as doing so will result in Beholder immediately attacking you. If you do not make eye contact with it for long enough, it most likely will leave, although there's still a small chance it won't fall for it and still attack you!

Watching

This is the opposite of the staring state. The nextbot will stop to watch the player. You will know it is in this state, when its sprite has no eyes. When this happens, you want to look at the nextbot until it retreats. If you don't look at it for long enough, it'll attack you.

Chasing

The nextbot will chase after the player with a wide open smile. As inviting as it is, it is ill-advised to go inside.

Charging

The nextbot will charge at the player to jumpscare them. Upon touching them, it will teleport away.

Running

The nextbot will retreat into the darkness to a random spot.

Disappearing

The nextbot will disappear from sight. Gone. Reduced to atoms.
