Description
"Ok Freeman, be adequate!"
"What the hell does that mean, anyway?"
"Ah, I dunno, sounds like something the Vorts would say."

Official port of my Gamebanana mod.
Gives an unique look to the BEST two characters in the entire franchise, Griggs and Sheckley!
It also changes the male_06 generic medic appearance for a new one so Griggs is even more unique.
Griggs lost an eye and Sheckley is older. Sheck unpacked some old stuff from his glory days to survive in the Victory Mine! A helmet and a kevlar.
This is meant for EP2, but the new male_06 will also appear in Base HL2 and EP1 if installed.

Griggs:
His clothes are sightly darker
He lost one of his eyes and wears a bandage over it (its a bodygroup so it can be removed)
Resistance logo on his vest (inspired by Rebel concept art)
His blinded eye has some blood around it and it's white now, also a scar
Wears a grey beanie
Has eyebags

Sheckley:
He's older now, so more white hair.
Wears a kevlar instead of a stolen metrocop vest
Has refugee clothing underneath his vest
Wears has a helmet (is a bodygroup so it can be removed as well)

Generic male_06 medic:
New facemap which is a mix of the sandro facemaps with a new skintone
Light Green eyes (cause why not?)
Gloves

This replaces the generic male_06 medic and ep2_outland_02.

Yeah, you might see it with the arrival of the next wave of addons (compability fixes, and some other stuff.)

I just wanted to have new facemaps for Griggs, but I just couldn't picture him as anything else but the Sandro medic face. So I modified the base one (btw the new male generic medic is named David! Since most facemaps have a name, I thought I'd give him one too.)

Id love to see a version of this that doesn't modify male_06 medic, i think the bandages add just enough to make griggs unique enough from the rest.

Then it was probably something Valve did when they made the map, it isn't too big of a problem.

Good to know, though I'd like to take a look at the source code of HL2 to see how the game determines which lines a model uses.

As for the specific line thing, I have no idea. This only modifies two entities, the Griggs and Sheckley NPCs. This changes their citizen type to be 4 and their models, citizentype 4 is needed so npc_citizen can use custom models, it is used in NPCs like Odessa. So yeah, it doesn't mess with any scripted lines or important names.

Just tested it again without the vocal diversity mod enabled and had no issues with wrong lines, although I am 90% sure the line asking if Freeman has ever seen an antlion is supposed to be said by Sheckley, not Griggs, but that is probably a mistake by Valve.

I thought I had seen that before, but I guess forgot about it. Unfortunately that mod hasn’t been updated to the 20th anniversary version of the map so I will wait until it gets updated, but I can respect you not wanting to reupload someone else’s mod and I look forward to the fixes you do make. When I get some free time I will test the map a few times to see if I hear any female lines or if it was just that other mod I had installed.

It already exists, just not in the workshop. And it is also compatible with this, Sector C mods and Bad Cop in the episodes.
I'm afraid I can't upload it myself since it's not my work, and reuploading things that aren't mine is just not the way I like to work.
I'll add compability fixes for the mods that are ON the workshop. This means: Black Mesa Sector C, Sector C remaster (normal and disaster lighting).

I thought the lines problem came because they use unique citizen models, and the game might not be able to recognize their gender since the path to their models isn't hard coded like I assume the others are.

I think it was because of a mod I had, I was using the vocally diverse citizen mod (which doesn’t work properly in the episodes) when I disabled it and played through this section again I tried to listen closely to the dialogue and I didn’t notice any female dialogue, but I saw Griggs use a Sheckley line, “Hey doc, you even seen an antlion before?” Maybe Griggs is supposed to say that, but it sounded like Sheckley’s voice. If I had the time I would test it a few more times myself, but I have been a bit busy lately and forgot about it. Also, if you are making compatibility fixes, could you please make a fix to change the soldier in the Gman cutscene to Bad cop from EZ2?

However, I'm working on compability fixes. So soon you may see compability patches for all those mods that replace the Sector C cutscene in ep2_outland_02.

You must be having a conflicting mod, another mod that replaced ep2_outland_02 like G-Man Sector C cutscene or similar.

I never really encountered this before, if I had to guess it's because the game can't determine their gender. And sadly that's probably hard coded, so I don't know if I can find a workaround for it.
