FIX for: Failed to set up alias

Have you ever had the annoying message "Failed to set up alias: HD0" popping up when you try to boot the game and you don't know what to do? In this guide I will show you how to fix that

Solution to the problem

When installing the game and trying to run it, you might come across a message on screen that looks like this:


Apparently, the problem is related to your anti virus software, but, unlike what the message suggests, I personally found that the problem lies elsewhere.

Basically the problem is that the game, for some reason, couldn't find its install files in the proper windows profile in your computer, so you will have to manually change that.

Here's what you will need to do:

Go into your Neverwinternights folder in documents through writing this %userprofile%
and open the nwn.ini file in a texteditor.

Change whatever it says after C:\Users\ to your name.
Mine was set to "min dator" or "my computer by default in the ini file
Like this HD0=C:\Users\min dator\Documents\Neverwinter Nights

So I just changed all the paths to my usename and BAM! it all works now.

Спасибо за помощь. По ходу это из-за того что я сейвы с настройками руками перекидывал, а имя пользователя в этот раз после переустановки венды сменил на другое

This has been bothering me for a week, messing with anti-virus software. as you pinted out, that was not the issue. the issue was in the ,ini file, I changed it to my profile, perfect solutuon.
