Step-by-step Ending Guide

A step-by-step ending guide for all endings, translated and edited by IDOLxISxDEAD from the official Japanese strategy guide.

Notes/Comments

-Many events and item placements in the game are fully random, as confirmed by interviews with the director. Some, like room and item locations are decided when you start a new game, other events are decided when you click on the interaction point or go through the door, those will be noted as best as possible. Some of the RNG events can lead to unavoidable Dead Ends or to some part of the ending requirements being unobtainable, so they may involve loading a save game or starting over, depending on your version. This is because the Win95, WonderSwan, and SFC versions don't support save states on original hardware and the "Continue" option from the main menu may have already locked you into the undesirable outcome.

-There’s a few elements that are different between the different versions, where the original Super Famicom and Win95 versions differ from the PS1, PC, WonderSwan, Deluxe fan patch, and Rewind versions. However, only one of the changes really affects the endings, involving the Cage Key placement, and those will be noted.

-I’ve translated these guides from the official Japanese strategy guide and they’ve all been tested to be fully accurate, removing much of the guesswork in most of the ending guides I’ve seen. These are generally the fastest routes that avoid unnecessary item pickups or events.

-Room and Item names vary between all the English versions (Rewind, various fan patches,) but ones used here are taken from the map I put together that’s meant as a companion for this guide, which can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3358698516

Ending H

1. Find Laura’s body in the 1st Bathroom
2. Hide from Scissorman
3. Go to the Garage and get the key from the box
4. Use the Engine Key on the car 3 times to leave

Ending G

1. Find Laura’s body in the 1st Bathroom
2. Hide from Scissorman
3. Go to the 1st Floor Scream Hallway and stop a few seconds until you hear the scream
4. Look through a window of the corridor right after the scream
5. Go to the Garage and get the key from the box
6. Use the key on the car 3 times to leave

Ending F

1. Go to the Living Room and get key from the box (If box is empty, just move forward)
2. Get the perfume from the Master Bedroom
3. See Anne killed by Scissorman in the 2nd Foyer
4. Hide from Scissorman
5. If West Wing key was not in the Living Room, get it from the 2nd Floor bird nest
6. Enter the 1st Storage Room and get the Pesticide and Black Robe
7. Use the Pesticide in the Kitchen to get Gold Key
8. Go to the Phone Room and get Silver Key
9. Enter Religious Study. Examine the bookshelf for Demon Idol info or mural behind the bookshelf for Staff info
10. If you got the Demon Idol info, go get it from the statue in the right-most section of 2nd Floor West Wing corridor, if you got the Staff info, go get it from the Music Room
11. Get the Ceremony Key in the Child's Room chest
12. Go to the Ceremony Room and use either the Demon Idol or Staff, go to cavern
13. Use Perfume and Black Robe on self at the dog (Do not talk to your friend here)
14. Search the Cradle Under the Star and panic to fend off Dan
15. Exit via the elevator

Ending E

1. Get the West Wing Key from the Living Room (If box is empty, just move forward)
2. Get Perfume from Master Bedroom
3. See Anne killed by Scissorman in 2nd Foyer
4. Hide from Scissorman
5. If you didn’t get the key from the Living Room, get it from the bird’s nest
6. Enter the 1st Storage Room and get the Pesticide and Black Robe
7. Use Pesticide in the Kitchen for Gold Key
8. Enter the Phone Room to get Silver Key
9. Enter Religious Study, examine the books on the small table, then the bookshelf for Demon Idol info or mural behind the bookcase for Staff info
10. If you get Demon Idol info, go get it from right-most section of 2nd Floor West Wing, otherwise get the Staff from the Music Room
11. Get the key in the Child's Room chest
12. Use the Demon Idol or Staff in the Ceremony Room to go underground
13. Use Perfume and Black Robe at dog
14. Talk to Lotte to the right of the dog
15. Search the Cradle Under the Star and panic to fend off Dan
16. Go to the elevator and select the 3rd Floor

Ending D

1. Everything is the same as ending E, except select the 2nd Floor at the elevator. You should be able to just hit "Continue" from the main menu after getting Ending E and choose the different floor to get this ending.

Ending C

1. Get the West Wing Key from the Living Room (If box is empty, just move forward)
2. Get Perfume from Master Bedroom
3. See Anne killed by Scissorman in 2nd Foyer
4. Hide from Scissorman
5. If you didn’t get the key from the Living Room, get it from the bird’s nest
6. Enter the 1st Storage Room and get the Pesticide and Black Robe
7. Use Pesticide in the Kitchen for Gold Key
8. Enter the Phone Room to get Silver Key (if you run into Mary here, you’ve lost the ability to get this ending, reload a save or start over)
9. Enter Religious Study, examine the books on the small table, then the bookshelf for Demon Idol info or mural behind the bookcase for Staff info
10. If you get Demon Idol info, go get it from right-most section of 2nd Floor West Wing, otherwise get the Staff from the Music Room
11. Go to the Secret Room behind the 2nd Storage Room’s fake wall, view all items in the room, including Walter’s corpse
12. Get the key in the Child's Room chest
13. Use the Demon Idol or Staff in the Ceremony Room to go underground
14. Use Perfume and Black Robe at dog
15. Talk to Lotte to the right of the dog
16. Search the Cradle Under the Star and panic to fend off Dan
17. Go to the elevator and select the 2nd Floor
18. Panic against Mary, then quickly run into the arch in the next area
19. Climb the ladder to the Clock Tower then panic to kick Mary off

Ending B

1. Same as ending C, until you get in the elevator.
2. Select 3rd Floor on the elevator
3. Panic to fight Mary at the Clock Tower

Ending A

1. Get the West Wing Key from the Living Room (If box is empty, just move forward)
2. Get Perfume from Master Bedroom
3. See Anne killed by Scissorman in 2nd Foyer
4. Hide from Scissorman
5. If you didn’t get the key from the Living Room, get it from the bird’s nest
6. Enter the 1st Storage Room and get the Pesticide and Black Robe
7. Use Pesticide in the Kitchen for Gold Key
8. Search the Fridge in the Kitchen to get the Ham
9. Drink the Wine in the Kitchen until you get the drugged wine and get captured by Mary (This is random, item can only be interacted with once)
10. Give the Ham to Simon in the shed and escape
11. Use the piece of wood inside the shed to hit Mary when she shows up
12. Go to the Phone Room and get the Silver Key
13. Enter Religious Study, examine the books on the small table, then the bookshelf for Demon Idol info or mural behind the bookcase for Staff info
14. If you get Demon Idol info, go get it from right-most section of 2nd Floor West Wing, otherwise get the Staff from the Music Room
15. Go to the Trophy Room, make sure the lights are off and get the Dagger, Use the Dagger on the zombie in the Trophy closet to get the Cage Key (Ignore this step if playing SFC or Win95 version, Cage Key will be inside Cage Room in these versions)
16. Use the Cage Key on the cages in the Cage Room
17. Get the key in the Child's Room chest
18. Use the Demon Idol or Staff in the Ceremony Room to go underground
19. Use Perfume and Black Robe at dog
20. Search the Cradle Under the Star and panic to fend off Dan
21. Select 3rd Floor on the elevator

Ending S

1. Get the West Wing Key from the Living Room (If box is empty, just move forward)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this guide is not only incomplete, but also wrong. I followed the steps precisely for ending F and got ending B/C route. If the rng is so huge in this game, then guides like this are useless. Also, just becuase you don't include such steps as get Ham/Rope just to have "fastest routes that avoid unnecessary item pickups or events", doesn't mean you have the fastest guide! This just wastes players time.

Also. In your steps for guide C, running into Marry in the phone room, does not lock you out of the C ending, like you write.

When I went for ending A, I got B instead. After looking for what I did wrong, it seems you must NOT poke the crow nest when you try to get the west wing key.

@Hengeyokai the guide is correct. For S ending any of the girls need to survive. If you follow the guide you get S ending with Laura

Some steps on the S guide are absolutely incorrect. You're not supposed to see Anne die in any way to achieve the S ending because she survives with you in the S ending

I'd might add that you can get ending E and D after F without playing through the whole game again.
Just press continue after booting back to the menu.
After that go back and talk to lottery before entering the elevator.
Select the 3th floor and wait till you boot back to menu.
Hit continue ones again to select the second floor.

Cleared 3 endings in one go.

@SuperParkourio Meeting Mary there is a random event. If you load your save several times, you'll eventually go into the room and she won't be there. One time it took me 7 or 8 tries to get her to not show up there.

Ending C was the second ending I got (after H). Running into Mary most certainly doesn't lock you out of it.

I've met Maty in Phone Room, still got Ending C

I kept trying to follow the S route described here, but Mary kept showing up in the phone room and killing my run. I ultimately had to explore the secret room before going to the phone room to prevent the event with Simon from happening.

Fantastic guide! My friend and I played the hell out of this game on a snes emulator in middle school. I think I wound up stumbling upon all endings just by playing it over and over. Ir's so cathartic seeing all of it laid out methodically like this!
