How to dominate as Goliath - No Rock Throw!

This is my guide on how to win as Goliath. I use no Rock Throm so if you want to use it i'd go for another guide if i were you :D

If you have any questions, go ask them! :D

Starting the game

Before you even start the game you have to pick your abilities. As stated before I don't use Rock Throw at all. So you won't see it anywhere in this guide.

To start of i take a point in every other skill, as i like to spam abilities if I have to fight the hunters early on. And each of these skills serve a need for me.

• Leap Smash This covers a great distance if you are running and allows you to get to places fast. It's also one of the most useful skills in a teamfight for me. Using this allows me to just go for 1 hunter without him being able to run away.
  
  
• Fire Breath A high damage dealing skill useful in both 1on1 fights or in group fights. Also useful to kill wildlife fast!
  
  
• Charge This is my main damaging skill. I love to charge into hunters and knock them away. One of the best things of this skill is knocking down hunters who are reviving others. Also one of the best early skills to get away form hunters if you are in a tight spot.

Goliath has spawned!

Run run run run run! You spawned! Go for it! Run as fast as you can!

I never ever run away. NEVER!. Yes you have to get away from the spawn as fast as possible. But don't just run for it. They can see your footprints and will just follow you. Try to mislead them! Jump straight from the spawn towards a direction, after a few seconds press CTRL and go stealth! Best thing to do is act as you are going towards a river, and just turn around and stealth the other way. I always use this to mislead hunters at the start to get an early advantage and go for monsters. I pretty much use stealth the entire game. Try to sneak attack monsters as much as possible. This way you are only visible while you attack. But are never visible the time you walk towards it or eat it. You can get to level 2 relatively fast this way.

Don't forget to use your right mouse button all the time! Just spam it! Checking your surroundings for hunters and monsters all the time to see where you can go to eat. Or where you have to flee to.

Leveling up

• Killing monsters If you aren't close to the hunters, just sneak attack monsters as much as possible, DON'T FORGET TO GO STEALTH AFTER KILLING IT.
  
  
• Using wildlife There are some monsters which attack wildlife, or who's droppings you can eat. Sometimes i just follow a red monster as it kills wildlife, and it it's prey while stealth. Doing this allows me to evolve faster without telling the hunters my position. Because of the stealth eating they can't see where you are as you didn't stand up to attack.
  
  
• Eating the hunters kills Some hunter chose to kill wildlife, good for you Goliath! Go eat! I have no idea why they kill random monsters, yea i can get it if they are red or charging you.. But hey! Free nomnom :D

I got caught before level 2!

Don't worry, the game isn't over! Either try to outrun them or just fight them head on! But always check your surroundings before you make a decision!
If I get caught before level 2 (which rarely happens because of stealth) I check monsters near me. Just see if there are any red ones and try to fight the hunters near it. This way you aren't alone! You can use this monster to either help you defeat the hunters, or use it as a bait to run yourself, whatever you think works best for you.
Most of the times I choose the fighting part, as my shield is up because of the wildlife I ate while hidden.

Level 2!

Time to EVOLVE!

First of all, find a safe location to EVOLVE. If the hunter's haven't found me yet, have no idea where I might be, or aren't close I try to EVOLVE!. If they are close, use stealth to get to a safe location and evolve there!

What to level?

• Fire Breath I take 1 point in Fire Breath. It still gives great damage in a teamfight but the main perk is that it can be used while you walk towards someone.
  
  
• Charge Charge is one of my main damage dealers. As Goliath you want to focus 1 hunter at a time. With charge I can get this one hunter away from the group and kill him there. The range also makes it easier to stop hunters from reviving each other.
  
  
• Why not Leap Smash? I use Leap Smash just to get to hunters faster if they jump away from my charge or if I just used it.

Level 3!

If you get to this point you know what to level next!

Level Skills

• Fire Breath Fire! Fire everywhere!
  
• Leap Smash Get closer, do more damage!

Can I choose to do 1 less point in either Fire Breath or Leap Smash and take 1 point in Rock Throw instead?

Yea ofcourse you can! I just don't like Rock Throw at all as you have to stand still to Throw a rock... My playstile is running towards the hunters and knocking them down. Throwing a rock needs me to be at a distance or to stand still. I hate to do either one of them.

Power Relay

Getting the 3th EVOLVE unlocks a second way to win the game as Goliath. You can destroy the Power Relay. The best thing to do now is eat as many monsters as possible to get your shield filled. The hunters will most likely defend the power relay and have traps everywhere. Most people use Rock Throw to get rid of some traps, but why?

Leap Smash and Charge are both able to able to get you freed from those hunter traps. And other traps just don't really much damage if you are this far. If you aren't able to free yourself from these harpoons with your skills, just smash them down. This only takes about 2 seconds so who cares about them anyway? Just go for these hunters and kill them!

If I notice i'm not getting much damage from them while i downed one, i always make sure to kill it entirely so it can't be revived!

@mabus true, i started this guide while still in alpha. Played it quite a lot on my m8's account when he had it. But wasn't worth the money as we play with a 5 man group, and 5 man pre-made's wasn't available then. *no idea when it is now*
