VSS Dhalberg CB-10

Description
The Large Cruiser Dhalberg CB-10 was one of the last wartime cruiser projects undertaken by the Vedaken States. In KKY 1938 a new design was ordered for the raider fleet to support the growing fleet of large cruisers and heavy cruisers. With the first Large Cruiser VSS Admiral Schroden having been completed in KKY 1935 Dhalberg represented the newest and strongest raider type cruiser of the Vedaken navy with a focus on stronger armor and engines. Dhalberg would be launched in KKY 1943 and completed a year later, named for the northern port city of Dhalberg the city's crest would adorn her bow.

Dhalberg's wartime experience represented the dying attempts of the Vedaken fleet to fend off the Tsukoyian navy but in late summer 1945 her career and the last of the Vedaken fleet's attempt to stave off the Tsukoyian and Intarian fleets was ended as the carrier RTNS Kaizen would strike her cruiser task force quickly and swiftly resulting in Dhalberg taking three torpedoes and four bombs across the ship. After a day long fight to save the ship she would begin her journey limping back to safe harbor. Four months later the war would end and Dhalberg sat in severe disrepair along with the many other surviving ships of the Vedaken Navy, Peace deals brokered by the four big nations commenced and Dhalberg along with her sister Schenkern were attempted to be taken by the Tsukoyians though the Vedaken states offered several far distant island territories in exchange for no seizure of the remaining naval ships by any of the major powers.

Four years after the war a new program was started to resurrect the navy starting with the remaining capital ships and screen vessels. Dhalberg was the first selected along with the fast battleship Branholden, work was done and three years later Dhalberg was once again recommissioned into the Vedaken States Navy having received several new upgrades. But this would only be the first of many refits she would undergo and by KKY 1981 she was in her newest and considered 'Drei' refit. Having lost her 105mm secondary battery but keeping her 152mm fore and aft secondary guns she was the second most heavily gun armed unit in the fleet second only to Branholden. These upgrades added a new mast structure aft of her conning tower complimented by the rear most tower added in KKY 1959. Despite her approach to no missiles her sister Schenkern would actually receive missile batteries in place of her 152mm guns but Dhalberg retained three CIWS systems as opposed to Schenkern's two.

Dhalberg became the Eastern Theater Flagship stationed in the allied country of Fremlik operating with the 21st Cruiser battle squadron under the 10th Fleet. She is has received 5 unit commendation awards and two foreign service medals for her service to Fremlik. Schenkern and Dhalberg operate on a 5 year rotation as Eastern Theater flagships with Schenkern who is in a projected rotation date sometime in KKY 1986.

Thank you for reading my excerpt on my newest one of of the nicest ships I have created recently. About 22 hours of work has been put into Dhalberg at this point and I can't say I'm unhappy with the result as she looks downright amazing to me. But thank you again for reading this and I hope you enjoy a kind of alternate universe P-Class cruiser.
