How to change: The language settings (Menu & Subtitles)

Since I played a good amount of Rockstar Games until now (RD 2/GTA SA/GTA VC/GTA III/GTA IV/GTA V), I was playing around with the though of playing L.A. Noire some day for quiet a while now. I have also heard a lot of good things about the game and have never been disappointed by Rockstar Games games.

Well I wanted to play the game today and the language was set to English, but since I am a native German speaker I wanted at least German subtitles to experience the whole game and understand everything.

Sadly there is no language changing setting in the game and I needed to dig around a bit to find a solution.

First Fix (Steam Start Options)

Search for L.A. Noire in your steam library and right click it, got to ->properties and then
go to ->general, then click in the text field under Start options and write -L German.

You can also do this with the following languages:

-L French
-L Italian
-L Russian
-L Spanish

Just copy pasta your language in the text field, simple as that.

Second Fix (Changing Rockstar Games LAN-Settings)

You can also resolve this issue by changing Rockstar Games LAN-Settings. If you do not allready have Notepad++ installed you might go for the first solution since you need this program or a alternative program like Notepad++ for this one.

The setting document you need to work on is located under the following path:
Documents -> Rockstar Games -> L.A. Noire.

Open the settings.ini file and rewrite the existing language you want to change to your language, but remember there are only the following ones available:

German, french, italian, russian spanish and english of course lol..

This guide is just meant to be a short summary of how I got the language in the menu and subtitles changed since there is no option to do that ingame.

And yes, I am surely not the first guy writing a fix about this.

Ich danke dir sehr. Mit diesem Guide ist das Game auf Deutsch eingestellt. Die Audio-Sprache bleibt auf Englisch, weil Rockstar-Games üblich.
