Description
Welcome to Religions & Cultures Expanded
This mod aims to change and add religions, cultures, culture groups and mechanics.

Currently Added
Currently the following religions are changed or added:
  • Bogomoilist
  • Hindu (Vanilla, changed mechanic)
  • Jainist
  • Nestorian
  • Manichean
  • Nang Chos
  • Vidilist

Currently the following new culture groups are added:
  • Aramaic

Currently the following new cultures are added and the following Vanilla cultures are swapped to different groups:
  • Avshars (Iranian)
  • Farsi (Iranian)
  • Parthian (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Iranian)
  • Azeri (Altaic)
  • Kalmyk (Altaic)
  • Oghuz (Altaic)
  • Qashqai (Altaic)
  • Coptic (Sudanese)
  • Assyrian (Aramaic)
  • Babylonian (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)
  • Chaldean (Aramaic)
  • Hebrew (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)
  • Manichaean (Aramaic)
  • Phoenician (Vanilla, moved from Lost Cultures to Aramaic)

Detailed information about the added content can be viewed in-game via a custom startup screen, which can also be opened again later with a button in the top right near the date controls.

Converting to or away from the new or changed religions by console should be avoided, because that can break things. To convert to the new religions, if you want to cheat, you can trigger the event rce_events.1 with the console.

Localisations
  • English localisation included
  • German localisation included
  • French localisation included (English language)
  • Spanish localisation included (English language)

Compatibility
  • EU4 Version: 1.37
  • should be compatible with any DLC
  • playing with mods adding content specific to certain Vanilla religions or cultures may lock you out of that content when those were changed or the starting situation of countries with such content were changed in this mod
  • there will be major compatibility issues with mods that (Expanded Mod Family mods excluded, since those are compatible):
    • add or change religions
    • change Vanilla cultures
    • change at least one of the following files in the interface folder: countryreligionview.gui or topbar.gui
  • there will be medium to minor compatibility issues with mods that (Expanded Mod Family mods excluded, since those are compatible):
    • add or change religion icons
    • change Hindu deities in the common/personal_deities folder
    • change at least one of the following files in the interface folder: alerts.gui or provinceview.gui
    • change at least one of the following diplomatic actions in the common/diplomatic_actions folder: giftaction, guaranteeaction or insultaction (exceptions: Force Revoke Guarantee & More Favor Actions)
    • change the file in the common/governments folder
    • change at least one of the following scripted functions in the common/scripted_functions folder: can_claim_defender_of_faith
    • change at least one of the following static modifiers in the common/static_modifiers folder: devotion, innovativeness, prestige, religious_unity or republican_tradition
    • change at least one of the following files in the decisions folder: GreekNation.txt, IsraelNation.txt, Ottoman.txt, PersianNation.txt, TibetanNation.txt or TurkishNation.txt
    • change at least one of the following files in the events folder: Hinduism.txt or flavorKLM.txt
    • change at least one of the following events in a file in the events folder: MEE_Byzantine_Events.7
    • change at least one of the following files in the missions folder: DOM_Ottoman_Missions.txt, KoK_Persia_Missions.txt and Tibetan_Missions.txt
    • add the tag NPA
Major compatibility issues here mean that the mod will be unplayable for the most part. Mods that change or add religions will most likely clash with the religions added in this mod, same applies to mods editing Vanilla cultures. Mods replacing the mentioned interface files will lead to many new mechanics not being usuable.
Medium and minor compatibility issues here mean that the mod will be playable for the most part, but certain features will not work correctly. Some things might be missing or not work as intended.

Credits
  • some graphics were taken from Crusader Kings III and then changed

I'd really like to use religion part of this mod, but I cannot deal with how limited cultural part is. Is there an option those parts will be splitted into seperate mods in the future? Seeing germanic Pomerania and Polabia just makes my blood boil.

Huge fan of this mod, question though: any chance QQ could get a government reform for being nestorian or something? In the mission tree it switches you to the turkoman federation govt reform but since you're nestorian it doesn't work, and you end up losing your original unique govt reform too.

@Castillomars: That event is only the notification about having become the controller, it doesn't make you the controller. Fire the event rce_religion_mechanic_nestorian_patriarchy_events.3 instead (province event for Constantinople, so ideally fire it there). How exactly did you become Nestorian? If you normally convert to it, there shouldn't be such an issue. Did you use the console to convert or make a country that is Nestorian from the start somehow?

I just did the event "rce_religion_mechanic_nestorian_patriarchy_events.1" to get it to fire and it said I have become the controller, but still not luck

The patriarch Controller for Nestorianism is just stuck as no one controls it. Is this because to one can die to then pass on the control?

@davidnoldevalls2000: Sounds like you had some other mod active that isn't part of the Expanded Mod Family but may have Expanded in the name that isn't compatible, like for example Europa Expanded. Cause RCE is compatible with the EMF mod collection it's part of.

I used only the expanded mods, but once I turned them all off it worked again.

@davidnoldevalls2000: Strange. Any mod active that may change province cultures?

I'm playing as qara qoyunlu and as I start the game my assyrian provinces convert to kurdish so i can't form assyria. Any idea why and how to fix it?
