Co-Op Achievements Solo Guide

A brief guide on how to achieve Co-op achievements on Borderlands: GOTY without another person.

Can't find anyone for the Co-op achievements? Are you sad because Borderlands didn't bring splitscreen to PC?

In this guide, I will show you how to achieve each of the Co-op achievements without needing another person.

Requirements:
- Steam version of Borderlands: GOTY

Step 1: Open "Borderlands Config Editor" and over "Graphic Settings", tick the box beside "Enable windowed rendering" and press "Apply"



Step 2: Open "SmartSteamEMU", drag & drop your Borderlands.exe from the path below:

Step 3: On the next page, add the SteamID (found in the URL of the game's Store Page): 8980

Step 4a: If you have a second monitor press save, then launch Borderlands from Steam first. Once open, host a LAN Game then wait in lobby. Have this instance on your main monitor.

Step 4b: if you don't have a second monitor and can't fit both into one screen, then launch Borderlands from Steam first. Once open, host a LAN Game then start the game

Step 5: Open Borderlands through SmartSteamEMU. Once loaded LAN Game: Join Game, find your lobby, or game, will be the only one there. Pick characters and join.


TIP: Once in the game, on the EMU client, press Shift+Tab to unfocus from this game and Alt+Tab over to the Steam Client. This means you can fast travel without having one instance leave.

Speedrun Strats

I am 90% sure you could go into a singleplayer session, complete the objectives of 15 (side-)missions open and simply Turn-in them after you have brought your second account in. You can also kill a "re-spawned" Hive Mind, Krom etc. If you've got a finished playthrough just jump into Trash Coast and kill Hive Mind.

I believe SmartSteamEMU may not work very well with Anti-Virus software. Try disabling AV and clicking "Inject SmartSteamEMU" box. Any mods running will also prevent you from loading/joining games.

When I start BL through EMU I get an instant crash. The base game instead works fine. Any tips? Is there any additional setting to take care of?
