1. Creating and Uploading Custom Car Liveries
After launching the game, choose either Rally Mode or Time Trial and go to the car selection screen.
At this point, you can open the in-game Workshop menu by pressing the Y button on the Xbox controller (Triangle on DualShock/DualSense) or the C key on the keyboard.

  • Press the [Export] button to export the template as the base of your creation. The storage path of the exported template will be displayed in the upper right corner, with the default path being:
    C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Frozen Lake Games\Old School Rally\CustomLiveries

  • You will find the corresponding folder and car livery template in this path.

  • Now, you can just edit the template directly. After editing it to your preference, make sure to save it in the original path, ensuring that the file name and dimensions remain unchanged (256*256px).

  • Return to the game, and press the [Apply] button to preview the car livery you just created.
    * Please note that you cannot use it in the game by pressing [Apply] button.

  • Once you are satisfied with the adjustments, press the [Upload] button to upload it to the Steam Workshop.
    * Don’t forget to give it a cool name!

  • After a short wait, you can view the livery you just uploaded via the in-game Workshop browser.
    * The wait time depends on your network condition.
2. Downloading and Applying Custom Car Liveries
Whether you are the creator of a car livery or you just want to enjoy the custom liveries created by players from the community, simply can follow the guide below.

Same as before, simply launch the game, choose either Rally Mode or Time Trial and go to the car selection screen.
Open the in-game Workshop menu by pressing the Y button on the Xbox controller (Triangle on DualShock/DualSense) or the C key on the keyboard.

  • Press the [Browse] button to start browsing the available liveries for the current car selected that is available in the Workshop.

  • Find the livery you want to use, and press the X button (Square on DualShock/DualSense), or simply click on it to subscribe to the livery.

  • Exit the Workshop browser and return to the car selection.
At this point, you can apply the subscribed livery by pressing the X button on the controller (Square on DualShock/DualSense) or the R key on the keyboard.
    * Please note that the [Apply] button here is only for preview and cannot be used in actual gameplay.

  • Enter the game and enjoy your new livery!
Thank you for your continued support. We hope to see all your coolest, wildest, and craziest creation in the Workshop!
Do remember, this is just the one of the first major updates, with plenty more to come. Stay tuned!

Is there a template to see which parts of the texture goes on the car specifically? I know some are obvious like with the Taurus/Impreza, I'm going through trial and error to figure out where certain cutoffs are with the Totem/6r4

Hey Valteim, simple saying, just export the template and edit on it, save as the same name and the same format, then upload to Workshop and subscribe it to use it in game.

Silly question: how to create my creativity? Where could I do it?
qachalot Sep 25, 2024 @ 2:58am
I already figured out the problem. I tried to put the name of the car in the name of the livery, for some reason it is not allowed

Hey Qachalot, it's probably because you didn't input the name of the custom livery. It should be okay if you upload after you name it!

Is there a way that you guys could make it straight through the game instead of steam workshop? That would make it much more user-friendly, and more simple. Thank you so much.
