The architecture of the prison in Stardeus
This guide explain how to build the prison and manage prisoners in Stardeus.
This prison logic is written in around bio verse updates( compatible with v0.11.20.2289 [2024.08.29] or later )

Description
At first, Unfortunately disadvantage is bigger than advantage.
The reasons are written in below section.

This is for experimental play style and role-play purpose or something,
so please keep that in mind if you try it out in your practice.

Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages
  • They can make bit electricity on treadmills.
  • They can take foods and use toilets and showers. you can get biowaste.
  • You can wait their organ is self-healing without medical facilities(AutoDoc, etc).
  • You can use them for combat practice.
  • You can make them to encounter raiders who are different faction of these prisoners for fight each other.

Disadvantages
  • They will not be friendly even if you maintain them for a while.
  • It's much inefficient strategy for both of the food and electricity.
  • They don't maintain the rooms theirselves. In the other word, Humans and even if cleaning bots of them don't clean the floor.
  • If you happen combat occurrences of different causes from prisoners, then you need once fight prisoners and knock down them for finishing combat.

Main strategy
I'll explain how to keep these in next sub sections.
  • Manage oxygen, temperature, and food.
  • Keep left robots and colonists of our faction from them. Keep out the line of sight passes between us and them.
  • Keep not make them run out from prison.
  • Try not to kill prisoners or raiders(if you are capturing) when you knockdown them under combat.
  • Avoid the combat as possible while you keeping prisoners.

The architecture
You need build the room which you can maintain and supply the oxygen and heat without facing prisoners.

Food, clothing, and cleaning cannot be handled with prisoners present,
so explains will be written in next sub section about maintaining the prison rooms.

Basic architecture
Prisoners need almost same environment as our colonists.
Make the rooms with the some floors and some walls.

However, in this case you need care the points about
"you can't step in the rooms if prisoners present."

Important points are:
  1. Reduce the chance of making a hole of floors causing by the device broken events.
  2. Make supplying oxygen from the outside of the room to make easily refilling water.
  3. Specific combination of the doors and floor vent for blocking the passage of prisoners.
  4. Put the teleporter for make them one way to another rooms. (explanation is in next sub section about maintain.)
  5. Put fluid cannon loaded water.

1. Light on floors
It is for this reason there is a "Light Block". The devices required electricity are often broken by events and exposed the space, and lost heat and oxygen.
However, you can't easily step in the prison to repair them, or you need trigger the combat and need knockdown all of them.

2. Heaters and oxygen generators

Please put the main heater and oxygen generator to outside the rooms over the vents.
If heaters has to be replaced if it broken for the same reason,
This is better to even though it is less efficient.

It goes without saying, refilling the oxygen generator with water.

However, vent is too slow to exchange the oxygen and heat.
You can put first the some additional ones in the room for setting up the prison.

3. Airlock and floor vent
Note: Before you do something, DO NOT OPEN THE FLOOR VENT WHEN SOME BEINGS ON IT.

This can't prevent for the flying drones.

As you know,
the beings of other factions often smash and break the doors for moving to other rooms.
But they don't smash the doors that are set permission to pass prisoners/raiders through.
So, please put the air lock that has permissions.

At the moment, prisoners/raiders can go through out from air lock.
You need put floor vent to handle it.
If you strip human raiders/prisoners the equipment (jet pack gives them to ability to fly.)
Then, they can't pass over on opened floor vents.

Finally, you can control they go or not.

Notes: Don't build air lock on floor vent.Air lock override the Walking Difficulty of floor vent. like this:
This green is meaning "Beings can pass through without abilty to fly." in Walking Difficulty overlay.

Notes: Don't make prisoners stay on tile of air locks if they don't equip the helmet and suit.
These air lock tiles don't have heat and oxygen if it's exposed to space.

4. Teleporter for one way

I explained "Food, clothing, and cleaning cannot be handled with prisoners present."
This would be required for solve these problems.

And you can move prisoners to other rooms. I absolutely recommend put the teleporter.

5. Fluid cannon

Please don't forget to turn off when you don't use it.
TAKE CARE FOR RELOCATING IT, It's automatically turned on after relocating.

When you unfortunately encounter in combat, the fluid cannon is useful.
If your drones shoot them with rifle, they'll accidentally die.
On the other hand, fluid cannon can deal small damage to knockdown them bit safer.(but, often happen accident and they die.)

Cautions & Check points
  • Carry foods and clothes in before taking prisoners to.
  • Lock the mid air locks or doors to block the your beings step in there.
  • Open the floor vent to avoid the prisoners run out from room.
  • Connect electricity to air locks. if you can't well manage please put another door and walls inside
    for prisoners run in the air tight area.
  • If you put Wardrobe, check the filter denying jet pack or not. You should deny jet pack.
  • If you put the beds in the prison, please turn off their settings of automatically assigning the colonists. And remove assign from colonists. Colonists can't reach there and lost their mind.
How to maintain the prison
If you wanna refill foods, clothes, and cleaning up the room,
then you need kick away prisoners out from room without gotten sight.
This section explain how to do this.

Build the another room
At first, you need the room where you send them to.
Please just build a similar survivable room and your faction beings can't reach it.

Please don't forget lockdown room.
  • Lock outside doors.(to block beings of your faction step in there)
  • Open floor vent.
  • Set permissions to internal air lock.

Set teleporter to link another rooms.
Next, set teleporter to link another teleporter of built room.

The key point here is not to make it a two-way connection each others.
In Stardeus, you can create a one-way route by setting up the Teleporter to link in only one direction.

Gently kick prisoners out of the room
Then, there are multiple methods.
(In the words. make them wanna move themselves to another room.)
Please choose some or try your own methods.
  • Turn off playable devices.
  • Vacuum the air from room.
  • Shoot them a few times by fluid cannon
  • etc...

I often turn off the juke box or karaoke ones.
They try moving to the room has devices turning on.

and, now please wait for the leave.

Unlink teleporter
This is important.
if not, your drones accidentally step in room where prisoners in.

Now you can step in prison
After all prisoners left, now you can unlock the doors.
And drones can step in and start cleaning the room.
How to arrest and capture prisoners from raid events
In this section, explaining how to get prisoners from some raid events.

Common part and basic method
Common part are below:

In combat
  • You need kill or knocked out all of raiders, crawlers to finish combat.
  • Don't kill and don't make too injured to be recoverable.

After combat
  • After finished combat move them to air tighten and warm area.
  • Strip all of their equipment. (You need remove jet pack and ability to fly.)
  • If they are too injured, you can't carry them to some of AutoDoc. (They can move and use our AutoDocs themselves after waking up.)
  • You can just only replace body parts without waking them up carefully. (Note :If their heart or lungs, or some important organs were too injured or lost too many blood, then they'll easily cross the rainbow before complete self-healing.)
  • If raider is infected crawlers, replace Stomach and Intestines. like this:
  • Finally, you relocate them to your prison before waking up.
  • Keep waiting for self-healing them.( Single severity of theirs body gonna get back to "Moderate", they'll wake up for 3days ~ 1week. if it's too long, they'll die cause of starvation.)

How to knock them out gently
Unfortunately, there are not the way to safely knock them out.
Please note that they often accidentally died. (ex: by your drone energy rifles.

Case1. Hit and pull them to range of fluid cannons
Inflict damage until a healing mark (baloon of green cross) appears,
then pull them and attack with the fluid cannon.
Ofc, you can use direct order to drone and relocate charged fluid cannon to frontline directly.

Case2. Just shoot down them
The simplest is to just pick up survived beings who were knocked out after combat.
Full shoot and beat them up and pray.
Afterword
As you know Stardeus is still under early access.

Please keep your mind,
These logic may not be focused by developer and these play styles are out of main line, at the moment.

Currently not well worked things about building prison in game :
  1. There is no way to heal raiders who have been knocked out.
  2. Actions like arresting, stunning, or using a trap to incapacitate the target without causing harm are not available in the game, at the moment.
  3. Raiders do not perform certain tasks, such as cleaning the room, sleeping, drinking coffee, or refilling water for the oxygen generator.
  4. Even attacks by different factions/crawlers are treated as a single combat situation.
  5. There aren’t enough benefits to keeping them in prison.
  6. Enemies never turn into friendly without Obey Chips.
  7. Prisoners AI alignment are reset after save/load.

(But, they can produce the tiny electric power.)

I wish to adding the feature of the quest or story event, something to take prisoners or VIP to other station/place the future.

Ok I love this type of post, you have gone above and beyond.

I have a request: Can you do this format, but with our Colonists.
Lets say they're "Ignorant Prisoners" who don't know they're prisoners.:cursed_eye::cursed_eye:
